    Since so many of you have suggested that a better way to begin my journey into the MCU is to watch the movies in the release date order, that's what I'll be doing from now on! Thanks for letting me know. I'm watching these movies on Disney+ and they have an area that lays out all the movies in chronological order. Originally, I thought that would be the easiest way to dive into the MCU...turns out it's not! Thankfully, Captain America is still part of Phase One so I'm not too off track ✨ Thanks for being a part of this journey! ✨

    Captain Marvel, for example was released in 2019 but it takes place before many of the films and you would not get the references to the older films. Release date order is the best way to go.

    Good points here. Also, just look at the end of this movie. It's right before The Avengers. Jumping forward in our time to go backwards in their time, going to the 80s to watch Captain Marvel is kind of weird. I do understand that you're in a difficult situation now and have to bounce around a little. You'll get back into the groove. Another good reason to watch these movies in order of release is the extra scenes in the end credits. They always make sense in order of release, and never in so called chronological order.

  • @fullmoonprepping4024

    @fullmoonprepping4024

    That is very wise of you! Marvel released them in the order the full story follows. Those that think the chronological order is the way to do it are misguided . . . . . after watching the entire 24 movie list then maybe as a fanboy/chic it would be cool but on first watch release order is totally necessary

    @@SchulzEricT Thats a great point. I've heard people say that doing "boyscout" characters in this day and age would never work. Snyder seems to agree with this, so he writes the most iconic boyscout comic character of all to be all dark and broody. Meanwhile Marvel absolutely nails the trope with Captain America. He's literally the text book "aspirational character" that Superman was. Even before his transformation, he's shown to be brave, smart, selfless, perseverant, idealistic and shows a toughness that belies his small stature. To be fair, that did depend on who was writing him, Whedon just couldn't seem to pull it off, making Cap out to be a boring square of a person. But in this one, and inthe Russo's portrayal of him, Cap's arcs are interesting. By pitting his values and principals against a world that held them to be pase, they were able to craft interesting stories for him. This is why Steve Rogers as Captain America is my favorite MCU character by far

    The second Captain America movie, The Winter Soldier, is widely regarded as one of the best superhero movies ever (and rightly so), but I think his first one often gets overlooked. Steve Rogers' initial training was so inspiring to me back in those days. Back then I was training to be a police cadet and I was pretty skinny and not very confident. But I was motivated by my desire to do right by others. So whenever we ran miles at a time, or did sit-ups in the sun or got pepper sprayed and gassed, I just said to myself "I'm Steve freaking Rogers!" and it kept me going.

    The "watch in release order" thing has been beaten to death (I side with them too, by the way, lol), but make sure to watch until the very end of the credits on every movie... nearly all of them have a scene that ties into a future movie (usually the next one, which is a big reason why release order is important). Some reactors miss them from time to time and it's kind of heartbreaking, lol (If you missed the one for Captain America, don't worry cause it's literally just a trailer for the first Avengers movie, lol).

    Steve Rogers has been my favorite mcu character ever since this movie came out. It was iron man, but that was swept away instantly in 2011. I relate to the guy so much. I've always been the "goody two shoes" traditional American boy. I was never popular or strong. I really identify with his character. And it's also why spiderman is my favorite superhero ever. 5:11 Right there in front is Jenna Coleman, from “Doctor Who” and “Victoria.” 6:04 Bravo - most reactors who do Marvel don’t seem to recognize him. 13:09 In the comics, it’s acknowledged that Wolverine was the result of continuing efforts to recreate the original Super-Soldier, Captain America. Wolverine’s code name was Weapon X, but that isn’t a letter X, it’s a Roman numeral - Captain America was Weapon I, and presumably there were Weapons II through IX, with various degrees of success. I agree with the other comments saying to watch in release order. Just to give an example, the end credits scene for this movie is just an early trailer for the first Avengers movie - and unless you’ve seen Iron Man I and II, Incredible Hulk, and Thor, that movie would make no sense to you.

    The reason Cap was able to stay frozen and stay alive for this long is because he is a super soldier due to the serum. Hence him not aging, just like we freeze food it will not decay. Anyone else would die being frozen and if Bucky survived he wouldn't survived being frozen. Unless someone found him immediately when he fell and helped him... but the question is how will he be in modern time aka 70 years later? A question for another day.

It's a joy watching your eyes light up when seeing some great scenes and recognizing great actors (Wasn't Stanley Tucci absolutely incredible in The Devil Wears Prada?). I implore you to watch the movies in release order rather than chronological order. You've seen Iron Man and Thor and The Avengers movies and probably others from what you've said. But if going back through them all, release order is the way to go. Captain Marvel was released and wedged in between the two epic Avengers movies further down the line in Phase 3 and it was fine for everyone watching at the time. I guarantee you that you'll be good seeing it that way as well. The Captain America series of movies are my favorites with the Winter Solder being my favorite of all the MCU movies. These scenes often foreshadow what's happening in either the next movie in release order, or the next movie in that character's chain of films. Great reaction, BTW. I'm glad you enjoyed it. "Where did they get the tomatoes?" is a line that just got me. Like some others on here I'd put in my vote for release order as well, for the same reasons everyone else has said. I've known people that have done chronological order as well and it was fine for the most part, although they were sometimes confused by characters that actually got introduced to us later on. But you know what? Do it the way you feel comfortable with and we'll all be fine, I promise 😝 Anyway you already mentioned you've seen several of the movies previously so I don't think anyone needs to worry about a pristine spoiler-free existence.

    I wanted to answer that question but the horticultural process from seed to ripe tomatoe is quite involved more than I can fit in a comment.

    19:25 "When were bullet proof vests invented?" Not until long after WWII. The closest thing available during this war was the vest for airplane crews that could sometimes stop slow moving metal fragments caused by exploding flak. Bullets go right through those vests. Also, they were so heavy that most military aviators sat on them instead of wearing them. Side note: bullets also go right through the metal helmets soldiers wore in WWII. Those helmets were not to protect from direct bullet hits, but rather from falling junk from collapsing buildings or nearby explosions, or maybe a glancing bullet that only grazes the helmet instead of hitting it, uh, head on.

    Joe Johnson directed this film. Marvel hired him because in 1991 Joe Johnson made another superhero movie that takes place in this time period called "The Rocketeer". Adapted from the comic-book it is about a young pilot who finds a Rocket-pack and starts being chased by Nazi, FBI, and the Mob in 1938 Los Angeles. If you liked Captain America you will love The Rocketeer.

    Love the reaction and can't wait to see your journey through the MCU in timeline order. Like some people have said, the mid and post credit scenes can contain spoilers for upcoming movies but with a little guidance you should be able to bypass major spoilers. If you haven't watched Captain Marvel yet you can skip the mid-credit scene and go right to the end of the movie to the post credit scene. If you have a friend that's seen all the films they should be able to tell you which scenes to skip in which movies. You could also go back and watch them at the appropriate times. There won't be too many scene's you'd have to skip, maybe three or four.

    Kind of odd when you realize that when Cap first joined the Avengers in the comics, he'd only been on ice for 20-ish years, but here it's 70. Unlike some characters who have origins tied to WWII (like Magneto), Cap's origin won't ever have to be retconned, all they have to do is extend his time on ice.

    Strange that you said that. Executives at Marvel didn't think that foreign audiences wouldn't connect to the character of Captain America. These executives thought foreign audiences would think Captain America was just American propaganda. But Steve Rogers became a favorite Marvel character with foreign audiences. The Captain America movies were the highest-grossing Marvel movies in Phase One through Phase Three.
