Im from tampa. I can confirm.
I rented this game ONCE back in the day, and it was a thorn in my side for nearly my entire life. I was finally able to beat it recently, so I'm glad I was able to close out a part of my childhood. Incidentally, I also beat the arcade version, and found it to be a chunk of cheesy, delightful retro fun. "NOOO!!!!"

Did you use save states? I tried to beat it with save states, but I eventually had to save a couple of times a minute. At that point, playing became more of chore than being fun.
Damn I love when my one hundred power stones give me a power boost
I remember getting this as a rental and being so disappointed it wasn't an arcade port.
Another great video, Travis Touchdown! I remember renting this one and liking it, but never getting far.
That Avengers arcade cabinet was pretty cool, I played it a lot before Street fighter II took over my life
After completing werewolf: The last warrior, I went straight to this game. I'm certain that the same designers were involved. It feels like a spiritual sequel to werewolf

You are probably right, since Werewolf was also developed by Data East. Also, I think werewolf was supposed to be a Wolverine game. All that said, I feel werewolf is a better game.

@@eelobrian6727 oh yeah absolutely. Werewolf is a better game. I just wanted more of a similar game. Yeah, the final boss in werewolf is literally Magneto. Also, there's Juggernaut as a boss. I always thought it was just a designer's having a hard-on for the X-Men

@@shipped_my_pants_3000 "hard-on for the xmen" literally made me laugh out loud!🤣
This is a great NES game. It’s gotten a little pricy in recent years but if you’re a NES fan, you need it for your collection.
Man I used to rent this all the time back in the day at blockbusters! Such a great game and one of my fav nes games. Just got this today to add to my collection and can’t wait to re-live the memories!
Weird to think this game was from a time when characters like Capt. America and Hawkeye were considered "lesser known" Marvel heroes. This looks like some good middle-of-the-road NES fun, though. I absolutely would grab it at a thrift store for $5
I remember this game because I have played this game that was on a bootleg 4 in 1 multicart.
I rented this one aware that it wasn't the same thing from the Genesis/Arcade version and I still had a lot of fun playing it. Maybe it hasn't aged too well but it was a solid adventure back then. I can't stand the SNES port though, in which the enemies have invicible frames after every punch you land on them

And the constant voices - “Noooo!”
2:28 I was going to joke about the map of America portrayed here, but after thinking about it it isn't too bad compared to other portrayals. Better than Formula One : Built to Win's but not quite as good as Zombie Nation's
This is indeed a decent game and could have been alot worse. Props to them for trying something different but a NES port of the arcade game would have been interesting.

Nintendo had a mandate that developers couldn't directly port arcade titles to the NES without altering them. Which led to drastic changes like those in Ninja Gaiden to minor changes like extra levels in double dragon and TMNT 2. That's why every other system got a port.
Tampa. Why's it always gotta be Tampa?!?
I loved the arcade game from that time so much, and this one is not nearly as good lol
I had your same feelings. Middle of the road at best, though we've seen superheroes treated much worse. I feel this franchise could have had success in the hands of a developer like KID... I see you're well versed in Ocean slipperiness. Did you attend Darkman or RoboCop 2 university?

So slippppery
I had the SNES version - never knew this existed. This looks superior. The SNES version was sooo disappointing. It felt like some characters were like floating when they jumped and oh my god the voices… I can’t get “Noooo!” of my head whenever I think about it:
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Never.
don't know about the other versions, but the snes port was a hell shit
I remember this game 😮😮
How is the GG version? Looked interesting from the clips
This game is on a "different level" than the SNES version. The NES version is on the level of forgettable arcade ports where the developers try something different from the source material but end up with a forgettable result. The SNES version is on the 2nd circle of Hell where the players are "buffeted back and forth by the terrible winds of a violent storm, without rest."
It's fun for a casual play, but a real slog to complete. The fatal flaw is cap being sent back to Tampa when he dies. Which is pointless, because you have to use a continue to just begin where the game starts. I just end up reseting it to not waste continues. Also, having Hawkeye and Cap travel separately is tedious. You should start the game being to swap between throughout the stages. Lastly the power up system..wtf. Why make the player stop the action in its tracks to spam a target continually in order to farm unclear and arbitrary items. Wolverine for nes did a way better job with the clarity of power ups and continue system.
