I realize he is like that, but he keeps try to compete with everything... not in serious way... the one that confuses me... is that sometimes he’s hot sometimes he’s cold.... like we have a really good time, laughing, talking for hours, but and then suddenly few days later he goes quite, reserved... after quite sometime i know he wants some time alone....but man...sometimes it makes me anxious, and can’t help thinking that i might do something that upset him without me realizing....

Its not that confusing. If you give them the room to be honest with you they'll probably tell you what you want to know. The main thing is to not be judgemental about it....ask lots of questions....not " so what youre saying is" questions because that means you misinterpreted what was said and we dont like misunderstandings. In most cases unless its just rrally hard talking to you what was said is what was meant hiw they meant it and not how the person recieving it would mean it if they said it. I hope that was helpful. The man you are describing seems to have no confidence in his abilities to attract women so he's hanging on for dear life to someone (you) he obviously does not see to be worthy of his trust. He's basically in a fight with his own intuition and the love he possibly has for you.......understand we are very observant ...he may have seen qualities in your personality or character that he felt were not a very solid foundation for a long healthy and prosperous relationship(with him atleast) I dont think its necessarily the mentioning of another man in itself that set him off but more so the things subcommunictaed....we can be over thinkers and if you leave enough bread crumbs we'll find your bag in the neighbors trash can.....but not all of us go about it the same way....
