How can merely five people create such beautiful music and dance? Our Western Civilization has created so many wonderful things of which we can be proud. Great work, Slovenia!
Truly delightful to watch and listen to every time. Makes me long to learn to do the same. So graceful, so elegant! Modern life has lost so much of what was one prized beautiful in music and dancing.
Magnificent music and superb dancers !
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

I, too, would love to dance this way, but who would ever teach anything so rare and exquisite here in southern Tasmania, Australia? This is the wrong part of the world, I fear, I fear! O, woe, alas for me!
That was lovely to watch. Intricate, fast and yet elegant as well - and the high five at the end was unexpected! 😄

Thank you! It was pleasure to dance, and the high five was spontaneous :)
Hurdy Gurdy - heard this instrument at Festa Italiana in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA one year and went out and bought a CD of English hurdy gurdy music. Like seeing the dancing to this music too.

Thank you for these words, Jarl of Swot :)
The author of this song/dance is the French Pierre Attaingnant (1494-1551).

Yes... and not. Attaingnant published this song (and many other tunes), but it is not sure that he wrote it.
Ok, since I liked the dancing as well (those music were made for dancing primarily), I 'll give you out the story so that you can change the title ... : it was PUBLISHED by Pierre Attaingnant . People keeps on saying Author is anonymous and guess what ; the author is Claude Gervaise, who was indeed the ... assistant of P. Attaingnant. Cheers.
Felicitaciones !!! Excelente desde todo punto de vista .
A beautiful performance all round. Thank you.

Great dancing. I just would like to see them in rehearsal clothes so we could see what their feet are doing.

Even Tudors would want that !

This dance remembered me of a scene to the court of King Henry where a dance band would come to entertain the king...and dissatisfied with the dance of women because he could not see the steps behind the skirt he hired pages men at his court wearing buffant trousers so he could enjoy learning the steps himself...New bands appeared of men dancing in buffant trousers....rather than women ...That explains the suspicion of him being gay...
tourdion or irish dance?
Where are you from, if I may ask?

Word of advice; The long skirts hide the leg work of the dance. Shorter skirts would be much more impressive!
@blek7547

But this is clearly a (excellent, by the way) reenactment of the dance, which is from XVIth century. Shorter skirts wouldnt be suitable for this :)
@jochentram9301

Precisely. For an instruction video, short skirts or pants would be better, but for a reenactment, historically accurate costume is the way to go. Which is one of the several beautiful aspects of this video.
This folk dance is from wich country?
@tanjaskok1

More than folk dance it is a reconstruction based on the Tourdion and Galliard steps of 16.century France. We assume that these steps were used both in court dances as well as popular dances. Unfortunately we know less about the popular dance. But some description of more sophisticated dancing survived till today and can be understood and reconstructed even today- 400 years later.

Thank you so much for the explanation ... it´s beautiful
