Cape Wrath Trail Leg 2 day 2. Maol Bhuidhe to Craig

Day 2 and the heat and humidity continues. Got to Craig in a poor state , really ill, could have been heat stroke, dehydration , food poisoning or a failed water filter, any of the above! Had to call it there as too dangerous to continue. Beaten again by the Mother of all trails!

I got to Kinlochewe last Wednesday morning and decided I had, had a great time and walked the 9 miles to Achnasheen to catch the train home for me to pick the CWT up at Kinlochewe at the same time next year. The midges are getting bad or I'd pick it up this year. Doing it in two parts is the best way to enjoy it for me. It's enjoyment I'm after, not a challenge. It's a fair old slog to Craig after all. Well done!

Having completed the trail two weeks ago I know it has its ups and downs. Yes you can Wizz through the trail, you can take hard options and easier options but the trail is your trail and it’s still there waiting to kick your butt again as it does all of us. I’m thinking seriously of doing it all again but using alternative routes 😊. My KZread is nearly completely uploaded if it helps.

Hi Shaun, oh dear, such a shame, maybe, Just do stages like you have, and be happy with that, it’s no good if health suffers, Get well soon and think about a two night trip Cheers Adrian

Well I never saw that coming mate. You were flying along. As you know, I know that feeling all too well. As you say, lick your wounds, let them heal, and think about going again. A great, honest video Shaun. Well done mate.

That is in no way a defeat shaun. You got out and did some amazing miles and saw some stunning scenes. 😍. I'd be very proud if I was you. And you definitely made the right decision to go home. ❤🎉

Hi Mac, don't admit defeat mate. There are no rules to say you have to complete any trail in one go. Its all about the journey. Come back again to go again. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us again. All the best mate, Dave

Bless you Shaun, doesn't matter how many times or how quick you do it, the trail will always be there. Me and Sandra started about the same time as you but unfortunately Sandi had a bad fall in Knoydart. I wouldn't say we are experienced or experts at hiking but when the trail decides your done your done. Sandi is having MRI scans this week and has a brace on her leg for now. I'm going up again next month to do it all again from the start a bit better prepared with less kit! Take care pal and hope to see you on the trail again! ATB Al 👍

@@macinthewild8116 my flights booked for the 12th June to Glasgow and I will be starting that day at the Corran Ferry. I've dropped a ton of kit and got my pack down to 10kg. Looking for lighter footwear but can't see any with ankle support I need. When you looking at going back up?
