Episode Notes:
1. Games included:
Power Stone (1999)
Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (1999)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1999)
Giga Wing (1999)
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (1999)
Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein (1999)
Street Fighter III: Double Impact (1999)
Resident Evil 2 (1999)
Tech Romancer (2000)
Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000)
2. Most games captured via the Framemeister using the Sega Dreamcast PACKAPUNCH RGB 480p SCART cable.
www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/s...
3. I hate the Dreamcast controller for fighting games. I really do advise a Total Control 3 or arcade stick for them.
4. Every one of these games saw a western release, a refreshing change from the days of the Saturn.
5. This was the last great era of arcade games with genuine ports to a console. Most of the stuff we saw after the Dreamcast, were just emulations. I actually appreciate the idiosyncrasies of ports. Sometimes it meant that a game played just different enough to have an identity of its own.
6. A few of these games are still DC exclusive and very much worth owning. In particular, I recommend at least trying Tech Romancer and Plasma Sword.

Capcom definitely had Segas back til the very end with the DC. DC had a multitude of fighters.

Capcom keeping the Dream alive
The Dreamcast being released kinda hit home for me that the arcades were dying in the States. I used to play Soulcalibur and Marvel vs Capcom in the arcade just about every day after school and suddenly I have a better than arcade perfect port of SC that looked TONS better and a perfect copy of MvC. Why continue to dump money into the machines when I had infinite play at home? Capcom had a lot of great titles and I still count myself fortunate to have owned a Dreamcast right after launch and continue to own one today.
the footage of powerstone alone got my interest really good

Alpha 3 was the definitive SF to me and still is I loved all the Capcom and SNK fighters that were brought onto the Dreamcast, this console was a godsend for me, I still have all my games and the DC, not even finished watching your video yet but I'm guessing you're gonna mention Project Justice here or in the next one, I played the crap outta that game, I want to see another Rival Schools sequel. There was another Capcom giant robot fighter I'm trying to remember... Tech Romancer, I think that was it, I didn't get to play it much but I remember liking the designs of the mechs. Tech Romancer had many famous mecha designers work on the designs such as the Macross designer. All the mecha were based on many famous anime series and even had Gundam's Char's Japanese actor playing a masked character Char-type. :)
I find it amazing that back in the Genesis days, Capcom took 4 years to become an official 3rd party publisher for the Sega Genesis, despite licensing many of their hits directly to Sega to port over themselves. Flash forward, and Capcom was Sega's top publisher for the Saturn and Dreamcast, even using Sega's Naomi board for all of their Arcade games of the period.
Capcom:Made a popular arcade game. Sega:we Bring arcade expirience at home. Meanwhile Capcom:here the first 25 games, Next month Will arive other 3 games.
After Genesis, Capcom was a great Sega’s third-party.
I have many consoles ,but the dreamcast brings me a tear of joy... I swear that dreamcast was better in the graphic department than the ps2.

What I wonder is the same thing I wonder in regards to Saturn.... which is how much further could it have been pushed. Homebrew coders like XL2 show it was capable of some neat 3d stuff. Saturn that is. Again, I wonder how much further DC could have been pushed.

@simon woods its was the dvd player that made that system sell like hot cakes..i was one of them too..in those days a dvd players were expensive...so it was a no brainer not to buy the ps2. If the dreamcast had a dvd player , i believe sega would be in this console generation not microsoft. Ic sega didnt die ..xbox would have never have lived...o.g. Xbox have many dreamcast games on it..in my opinion sega console death made xbox possible.

@simon woods I had my DC and played Sonic Adv, SC and NFL 2k until the disc ran out. But, I think people were just burned by Sega. I don't even think a DC with DVD capabilities would have made a difference. Don't matter! To me, I loved the train I was on. Sega was making all the right moves.

Vader Gamer and SLX indeed. The problem with PS2, is its horrible composite image quality, even on a good CRT it's a blurry mess. Like vaseline smeared all over the image. Whereas DC composite was rich and colorful despite the fact the composite sucks in general. PS2 looks razor sharp and clean however with component video via CRT, it's pretty much the only way for that system to look great. It also took developers a solid year+ to figure that complicated system out, 2001 is when stuff started looking good, Ace Combat 4, Gran Turismo 3, DMC, MGS2. Prior to that, PS2 was embarrassing for a system 2 yrs newer, as most of us didn't have component cables for it.
Yes perfect way to end my saturday love your channel man!!!
It took me a while to notice that a lot of my favorite Dreamcast games come from Capcom. There’s still hidden gems and other titles I adore that aren’t from Capcom, like with Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventures 1/2, Jet Grind Radio and Crazy Taxi 1/2. But then you have my other games that I constantly replay and love that come from Capcom. Games like Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2, the Street Fighter series, Capcom vs SNK, Power Stone 1 and 2, Dino Crisis, Resident Evil series and even Spawn. The Dreamcast will always have a special place in my heart.
Nice vid Sega Lord X.👍 2:27 I would love to agree. But after playing both, I would say Powerstone 2 was good, for 4 player fun and content, despite the fact that alot of combos, moves, characters and abilities were missing. But I would give the star points to Powerstone 1, because it had more moves, combos, specials, super moves and stages for each character, that added to the story and characters personalities. And it also had some memorable stages, and stage music, and cheap yet memorable final bosses.
Mars Matrix I bet is in part 2. Still my favorite Capcom shmup to this day. So many excellent games shown here and will be looking forward to part 2.
Never seen Code Veronica's Japanese limited edition before, love how it looks like a music album cover.

In terms of graphical capability, the Sega Dreamcast is AMAZING. One of these days I'm going to invest in buying one. It's yet another console that I missed out on in my childhood. Great video, my Lord!
RE: Code Veronica on DC was the first RE game I actually played. After that one I went and played most of the others that preceded it. I wasn't a huge fan of the ORIGINAL release of Street Fighter III in the arcades, but man did I like Double Impact and particularly Third Strike. It's still got some characters that are a little too wacky for a "regular" Street Fighter game IMO. Capcom support for the Dreamcast was definitely huge and appreciated back in the day. I have to say, I was not a fan of some of their more "popular" DC games but I was glad they were there helping the system along.
Love all your content and I just binge-watched them this weekend!! Keep making more, please!
SO glad that Capcom supported the Sega Dreamcast! Loved the Sega Dreamcast! SO Hoping that Capcom releases/remakes/re-releases some of these games for the Nintendo Switch! Would buy these classics instantly! Thanks!
Another truly great video. Reminds me how special owning a Dreamcast was. To this day I still miss Tech Romancer. That game was never released anywhere else. Keep up the great work!
Oh this brings back memories ❤️♥️. Capcom definitely showed major love for the DC. I'm going to say, even though it's been awhile, that the vast majority of fighters, all Shmups and action games on my DC were by Capcom. Having the agetec or DC arcade stick made these games even more divine to play!! Can't wait for part 2!!
Many fond memories of Capcom DC games ... power stone, re:cv, mvc 1&2... they brought it!
The support of CC for the Sega Dreamcast was enormous. It´s hard to believe that the Dreamcast is nearly 21 years old.

Can’t wait for the continuation of this. The Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles. I love Plasma Sword and I’ll play a few rounds every so often. Gotta say that Power Stone 2 is indeed it’s a better overall game than the original but the original’s gameplay tops it imo. I always wished they made a 3rd one with 1’s gameplay and 2’s everything else.

Omg it's hard to decide, I would choose 2 over 1 but I agree with you that Powerstone 1 was still very good. I really agree with you that they should've made a 3rd game. I played the heck out of both of them and made me wanting more. They were so fun. Played both a lot and liked both a lot. As far as the 1st one, I don't know, I think it could have been just like the case with me, I enjoyed it a lot because of the novelty factor.

Love your vids, binge watching them at work. Found a boxed Sega Dreamcast Sega Sports edition in the wild a few weeks ago at a local game store. I think Capcom put out more games on the Dreamcast than Sega themselves.
Capcom releasing their games on Sega was the best thing ever. We got Resident Evil 2 and 3. Dreamcast did get big releases contrary to popular belief.
What an amazing first year or so for the Dreamcast and Capcom! So many high-quality games!
I never fully appreciated my original DC till it was long gone. What surprises me now is that about ten years ago they were still selling sealed DCs for like $99.99 and I jumped on it immediately. It felt so good to expand my library of games, something I never really got to do as a kid. I still had a few more to get including Power Stone and its sequel before times got tough and I had to sell it. Sigh... here’s to hoping the third time’s the charm. Of course it’s gonna be pricier than before, especially if it’s the US versions of these games.
It always makes me happy to see Dreamcast getting some love :)
in the mid to late 90s when XMen vs SF, Marvel VS SF, Marvel vs Capcom, Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Rival Schools, and Marvel Super Heroes War of the Gems came out i became a Capcom junkie and i'm happy to see i'm not the only one.
The Power Stone series turned me into a lover of video games. Forever love it and crying for 3 lol
Man Resident Evil 2 on the Dreamcast was one of my favourite games for the system. Even now I like to go back and play through it every few years.

Very neat video. Indeed, the Dreamcast had excellent ports of Capcom games across the board. SFA3 is the high point for me, since it has so much extra content on top of all the quality one would expect out of it. Not sure if you are saving it for the second part, but it's also worth noting that the DC also had the best port of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
