This video explains the similarities and differences between batteries and capacitors. Both are energy storage devices, but the are very different devices. We discuss that and show an experiment.

I have to say it: THIS is an EXCELLENT video. I have been waiting for someone to explain this clearly, literally for years. Thank you so much for this detailed discussion.

I have a question to ask, for 48v, 3Kw DC motor I wanna make a backup capacitors pack, when I switch from one line of electricity to another, in that moment I don’t want to stop motor during switching, for that purpose how many caps, how many capacitors in pack required?
Good balance of practical questions and theoretical background.
i have watched several videos and found this to have the clearest explanation. thank you
Nice job, I'm looking forward to the next capacitor video..! :)
I don't think you need to debunk the capacitance of the super capacitor, Lasersaber already started his car with six 350 farad capacitors coupled in series, at one time he did it 3 times in a row, he also started his Honda Pilot with a self made hand crank capacitor. I have also noted that you're able to create your own capacitor with unlimited possibility's and storage capacitance. I'm going to try making a 5 kilo farad capacitor eventually, you should do the same!
BRILLIANT DESCRIPTION! Extremely clear. I can totally understand the difference now :)
4:05 Scared the hell out of me!
Ludic Science can you please explain to us why are resistors used in a circuit? Your videos are much appreciated :)
Very helpful and informative! TY for sharing with us!
Very informative video. Good job.
3:10 - now I get it! Now I know why they use huge capacitors for solenoid cannons!
Good video, explanation, narration.
Excellent video, thanks
Thank you for this video, it was really clear

can a battery and a capacitor current be compared to a cross country runner and a track runner, the cross country runner being slow but running for a longer time and the track runner running fast but for a short time?
thanks for posting
Excellent!!
Sir,Is the capacitor hold the charge like a battery.such as if we do charge capacitor today after one week able to use. Please reply me as soon as possible sir
3:20 how was the I=60A occured? It wasn't by using ohms law right? Doesn't I=C*dV/dt for a capacitor?
excellent class.
Inverse of impedance is a momentary conductance particularly for direct current operation of capacitor. We actually assign such conductance with imaginary figure to distinguish from intrinsic resistance because a capacitor is actually having high resistance rather than lower resistance. If direct current can persist for long to conduct direct current of relatively high amps, then the capacitor should be faulty.
Hon.can you tell me easy way to capacitor charging and discharging time how to calculate.?
Will they both have to be replaced when they run out?
dude you are and amazing person well beyond your time
How do you make a taser out of a capacitor? Can you do a video on this please
That baam! was real scarry.
nice lesson!!!!
thank you for this video.
Very nice.
If the 4700 micro-Farad capacitor has a maximum voltage of 25 volts, wouldn't that mean that the theoretical maximum current it can handle is 1000 amps? The calculation of 60 amps holds true at 1.5 volts, but to calculate the maximum possible you should use the maximum safe voltage, right?
Nice :) Thumbs up :D Alex
very usefull info thank you for it. its just wath i loking for. Another detail wold be nice its to say the form of storage the energy inside. The batery its stored by electroquimic elements ...one reaction of diferent elemento of periodic table and in the capacitor its stored in static curent pozitive electrons(right?)

+SLEVIN SHAFEL In the capacitor is stored in the electric field.
What is the replacemant of 3.7 volt battery
Cool - perfectly balanced tree of LiPo + supercapacitors should be effective in theory. Diodes could be applicable or some advanced commercial balance equalizer.
Thank you great video

Hm. it seems the problem is the use of electrolytic capacitors. They have a faster response due to low internal resistance, but much lower capacity than regular or even super capacitors. Electrolytic capacitors are intended for use in microprocessor circuits and will leak if used for energy storage.
What the hell man, I also discharge voltage multiplier often and just for the short stimulating experience that the discharge phenomenon is. I actively subject myself to the observation and read the comments pertaining to the discharge before hand.......... Still got me with the jumpscare that really isn't a jumpscare but is that which delivered similar results.
Can we please see the video of how you made the capacitor bank?

@ludicscience

+P0tat0_craft I made two sets of like 20 photoflash capacitors (330 V, 160 uF) in parallel, then I put the two sets in series.
so if we connect a resistor of the value of batt.-resistor of cap. to the capacitor it may provide lowvolt for certain time

Nice Video, But, why didn't you short circuit a 250 volt battery bank to compare.? It's would be violent too. and btw, You draw your "T" wrong. It looks more like a backwards "J" .
which one is better?

It would cost alot with current technology, but capacitor does have some advantage over battery as energy storage. For starter they have a charge/discharge cycle durability of 1 million making them last much longer than batteries. With the development in graphene technology, it'd be the matter of time until capacitor can be cheaply use as energy storage.
You punched a superhero-mask!!!
Great video! But those gloves man - not cool!
capacitors shouldn't have any resistance right?

+Ludic Science do you mean impedance ?
but... I=v/r is ohms law doesn't necessarily battery deliver 10 amps. it's too much current

Do yo explain. The compasitor releases its energy much quicker than a battarie. Which slowly releases its energy. Only difference.

One point 'SIXTY FIVE' I am like Dude 😶
You have a 25v capacitor in the picture but you only charge it to 1.5v. What if you have a high voltage/farad capacitor at full charge. with a 1.5v voltage regulator? Would that help regulate the output to a degree? Since you will do a super capacitor I assume you might mention a something like this 9v battery super capacitor. app.box.com/shared/n2ko4f9qln

these are all different components. a capacitor is as shown a rapidly discharging storage of energy, a resistor is a resistance introduced to the circuit that reduces the flow of current , while a transistor is a semiconductor used in computers and stuff (idk much about them)
