Canvas - 3D Capture Spaces Within Minutes and Convert Them Into 3D Files

Ғылым және технология

Canvas allows you to create an accurate 2D and 3D model of a space in minutes with simple devices such as iPhones and iPads. Then, you can submit the scans to Canvas for the processing which returns different 2D drawing formats (CAD) and 3D files for SketchUp, Revit, and other 3D modeling software.
Watch this video to find out the capabilities of Canvas and how it can help your site surveys and time spent making the as-built models.

Thank you for greatly simplifying the process… I’m convinced! In the distant past creating as-built drawings I have easily spent 3 to 4 days getting measurements, going back and forth, etc which is a real pain!😢

I just started a new journey this week, with a goal to create a really cool detailed 2D and 3D model of my entire home inside & out with accurate measurements that can be converted to a file that can be exported into a program like Sketchup where I can then play around with various remodel designs (after I learn Sketchup of course). After watching your video I see it's entirely possible to do the things I want to do. Now I just have to figure out how to go from where I am today, to where you are. I'm not looking to do this for a living, I just want to put together a bunch of 3D remodel videos for my wife and I to ponder for retirement in 6 years.

@@JosephKim I would love to see a video or hear how you'd approach a project like this. I have my original home plans/blueprints. I could easily start scanning rooms and whatever else I'd need to do using the Canvas app, and paying their fee's to convert them to the files necessary to use in Sketchup. Have you ever thought about collaborating with someone like me via zoom to create a 3D model of my home? There are a lot of homeowners like myself who'd love to play around with remodel ideas but need a working model to start with.

Our customers are typically remodelers/general contractors, interior designers, or architects working on a remodel. The first step of most of those projects is measuring the existing conditions and then modeling them in their design program of choice. Canvas cuts out the measuring and initial modeling, so they can get to designing the remodel faster.

Hey Joseph, great video. I'm an AT as well. As-built site measurements take me on average about 3 hrs. I saw your video on using a 360 camera and matterport for capture realtity. In your opinion, would Canvas with a pad be a quicker process instead of using a 360 cam?

Hey Joseph, great job. I have the I pad pro with lidar. And I work Houzz and they have a 3d program but it doesn't do what I need. If I scan the room. Ones I have done that I can change the flooring, wall color, but not the cabinet style and thats what needed most. I have to remove one cabinet at a time and then use a drop down box of default cabinet style and then thats not the true cabinet and comes bad. I would love to find a program that I can show true changes of there home , cabinets, floor. Backslash counter top , eather from lidar or an d uploaded picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi. This space totaled 1,443 square feet. At $0.15/square foot for a 3D file, a Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or 2020 Design file of this space would have cost $216.45 and a 2D AutoCAD and PDF file would cost $144.30 at $0.10/square foot.

Unfortunately, there are very few Android devices with a LiDAR or other depth sensor. Canvas needs that sensor to provide CAD files with 99% accuracy. Many of our customers purchase an iPad Pro just for scanning with Canvas.

  • @JosephKim

The front-facing sensor that unlocks your phone does not have the range of the LiDAR sensor, which has a range of about 15 feet.
