Canton, Ohio is also where President William McKinley is buried. His mausoleum is on a hill across the highway from the Football Hall of Fame.

My hometown! I never realized how hard my upbringing was until I moved away and would tell people my stories of growing up my friends would be like wtf that’s Canton? 😂 We had nothing to do but run the streets, smoking and drinking, partying etc.. Now I’m in New Orleans and seeing how these kids grew up here we didn’t have it so bad. For the size Canton is crazy as hell but it was waaay worse growing up.

@@KettleBell-se7wl as someone who grew up in Canton I don’t find it as bad as others. Especially after living in Toledo, Cleveland and Detroit. Canton sees less than 10 homicides a year. It’s not perfect but it’s not horrible either. The worst thing about Canton to me is the mentality of some people not the crime. Small town mentality.

I was born in Canton July 14, 1955, I finally left Canton in 2000 as I had enough of what Canton had become. At that time 14 known "Gangs" had been identified by the Canton Police and were openly operating. I had a good friend who lived across the street from a "Whore house" that operated 24 hrs.a day, he called the Police multiple times and they did nothing. Crime was and is out of control there, carjackings, drugs and all manner of Gang activities. There was a clash between two Gangs in Canton Center Mall that turned into a riot throughout the entire Mall and another Gang war in the Downtown area Hotel " The Hilton" that took officers from the Stark County Sheriff Dept., the Canton Police and Ohio State Troopers to bring under control. I had to get out and I never looked back. I loved Canton when I was a kid, it was safe and a wonderful place to raise a family which was long before Stark County in general took a "Nose dive into the dumpster". I could go on but I won`t..........

One sided. Canton has plenty of nice homes in all 4 sections of the city. It's the birthplace of the Roller Bearing, which makes the world go around, the ATM machine and the Bloody Mary. Where is Benders, the Sparta, Kennedys BBQ, Taggarts Ice Cream? And while it took time, both McKinley and Lehman have been restored and repurposed. Consider that hardy souls, who can handle the 4 seasons, have opportunities to buy incredible homes and buildings, full of hardwood and leaded glass, all these towns should make material retailers closer . Downtown is not perfect, but is much improved and also not show. Thank you.
