„Cântă cucu-n Bucovina” (The Cuckoo is Singing in Bukovina), the lyrics of the song belong to Constantin Mandicevschi written in 1904, Vasile Mucea discovered the song in folklore in the village of Corcesti-North of Bukovina in 1943.
Bukovina is a region of Moldova located in the north.
It was annexed by the Austrian Empire in 1775. After the First World War after the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire on November 12, 1918, it united with the Kingdom of Romania on November 28, 1918.
In 1940, June 28, the Soviet Union took the North of this region together with Bessarabia and Herta, even if the North of Bukovina and Herta was not part of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Romania joined Operation Barbarossa in 1941, recovering the regions ceded to the Soviet Union in 1940, but not for long.
Currently, Bucovina is divided into two parts, the North of Bukovina being part of Ukraine and the South of Romania.

„Cântă cucu-n Bucovina”, versurile cântecului aparțin lui Constantin Mandicevschi scrisă în 1904, Vasile Mucea a descoperit cântecul în folclor în satul Corcesti-Nordul Bucovinei în 1943.
Bucovina este o regiune a Moldovei situată în nord.
A fost anexată de Imperiul Austriac în 1775. După Primul Război Mondial după căderea Imperiului Austro-Ungar la 12 noiembrie 1918, s-a unit cu Regatul României la 28 noiembrie 1918.
În 1940, 28 iunie, Uniunea Sovietică a luat nordul acestei regiuni împreună cu Basarabia și Ținutul Herța, chiar dacă Nordul Bucovinei și Ținutul Herței nu făceau parte din Pactul Molotov-Ribbentrop. România a aderat la Operațiunea Barbarossa în 1941, recuperând regiunile cedate către Uniunea Sovietică în 1940, dar nu pentru mult timp.
În prezent, Bucovina este împărțită în două bucăți, nordul Bucovinei făcând parte de Ucraina și sudul de România.

„Cântă cucu-n Bucovina” (Зозуля співає на Буковині), текст пісні належить Константин Мандичевському написаний у 1904 році, Василе Муча відкрив пісню у фольклорі в селі Корчешти на півночі Буковини у 1943.
Буковина це регіон Молдови, який розташований на півночі.
У 1775 році він був анексований Автсрійською імперією. Після Першої світової війни після падіння Австро-Угорської імперії 12 листопада 1918 року вона об'єдналася з Королівством Румунії 28 листопада 1918 року.

I confirmed the previous user that (a) North Bucovina is now legally Ukraine; (b) any change in Bucovina status should be made ONLY thru legal means (i.e. negotiations and/or an action in an International Court of Justice). Everybody (maybe except Ukraine? - but even the US Congress) agrees North Bucovina was illegally broken apart from Moldova (1774) and then from Romania (1940), just like Crimeea was illegally broken apart from Ukraine in 2014. The fact that USSR imposed some peace treaties does not make those acts just. But war is excluded by all civilized nations.

I pity normal people of Ukraine for this war, I really do, but USSR is a killer state just like Nazi Germany and Ukraine was part of it both military and ideologically.

I love This Romanian Land 🇷🇴>🇺🇦 (Ukraine poorest state in Europe, it's not hate, it's true, of course there is the war but it's been like that even before 2014) Glorie Romaniei! Ukraine inherited the northern part of Bukovina, Hertsa, Hotin, Budjak and Snake Island because of Stalin in 1940. But those lands will eventually return to Romania! 🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴

@@carpathianvlach Romania is the most underrated "big" country in europe, its history and culture is impressive and my personal favourite in eastern Europe, but I have to say, with as much I love Romania and Moldova, Chernivtsi should be Ukranian, my grandma lived in Chernivtsi when it was under Romanian control and then when it was in the USSR, the city was and is full of Ukranians and Russians, the city is also a major Slavic site of the white croats durning the Slavic immigration. Even its name is Slavic because it was created by Slavs... If you ask me Budjak should be in control of Romania, the population is still majorly not Ukranian, the place was in control of Romanians for years and a major part of Moldavia, the land which Stefan fought for, that's why it should be Romania.

@@General_Alch Cernauti is a Romanian city. The name itself is of Latin origin and it is first attested in Moldovan history as "Cernovi", which means New Castle and has cognates in other Latin languages. Up until 1860, roughly 90 years since Bucovina was taken by the Austrians, Romanians were the largest population group in Cernauti. By 1910, Ukrainians had surpassed Romanians by a little. After 1945, Romanians rapidly dropped as they were systematically replaced by the Soviet authorities.
