Thanks so much! Completely replaced a jammed lens! Only comment which might help is that the copper heat shield has a tab that wouldn't sit in the bottom of the replacement lens as this was very slightly different to original lens which had a seat for the tab. I (gently!) sawed off the tab and it all fitted perfectly! great video!

Very useful video! Thanks! I even disassemble the lens barrels and cleaned it, hoping that will fix the error. No luck. The replacement piece is like $70 now and my wife's S110 is from 2013 or so. I hate to say it but it may be the time to get a new camera.

Great video! I have and love my S110 and bought it new when they first came out! My only issue as of now is the lens seems to be dirty from behind..if that is possible? There is a spot on the lens that is annoying when zoomed in on objects. I am assuming it is behind the lens since I have cleaned the lens numerous times to try and see if it would clear up....but no.

Found a new lens on the internet but there it said without CCD (sensor). Does that mean that I have to take the old lens apart and put some kind of sensor out of it or can I just swap the lens out as showed in the video?

What screwdrivers did you use? I was doing fine until I got to the smallest screws and even though the screwdriver seemed a good fit, it just mangled the heads and I had to drill them out.

Very likely to be JIS standard screws, not Philips. Subtle differences.

Thanks for the great video, I used it to replace the lens in my S110. Its now working great. Note, If you planning to do this job, you will need Phillips 00 and 000 precision screwdrivers. Some screws were very difficult to remove. Canon quoted me a flat rate price of $150 to do the job.

Hi, I replaced the lens and it worked for two days. Then the lens stuck again and I couldn´t get a picture. Only when pressing play I managed the lens to go back in. I tried to redo the cable as you said, several times but the problem is still there. Any ideas? Holger

Tengo una Powershot SX50 y le pasa absolutamente lo mismo. Error de Objetivo, reiniciar cámara 📷. La cámara la tengo 10 años, la he cuidado como oro. He visto que varias personas dueñas de Canon tienen el mismo problema. Es una vergüenza 😡 de canon considerando el alto valor económico de las cámaras. Debe ser obsolescencia programada... Y esa reparación es muy difícil para una persona con escasos conocimientos y habilidades de electrónica.

Gee, I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard "Let's go ahead" or just "Go Ahead". I can't figure out why every Yank uses the phrase, They can completely drop it altogether, eg. "OK let's go ahead and remove the screen" ........ "Let's remove the screen" It means exactly the same, the message has been understood. I've actually heard one say, "Let's go ahead and back up" WHY, it's not a rarity, just about all of them say it, some more than others, just like this guy. It's bloody irritating.
