Didn't work for me. When I connected the camaera to the APP, it didn't recognize the model and no firmware info was displayed. I updated the firmware using the old method, using a Camera memory card.

Hi, Dan. Thanks for your video. I'm still on the original firmware version (1.0.1) and I would like to back it up (it's not available any more on Canon's website) before updating to the latest, just in case of. Could you tell me how to do it, please ?
does this firmware do anything for the rolling shutter? I wanted to upgrade from my 7dmk2 but it seems the r7 isn't the way to go, being forced to use basically the same mechanical shutter speed or suffer from their lazy sensor.
Canon does not treat their APSC camera customers with any respect

apsc is just to bait customers into the ecosystem. i had r6. r6mk2 then r5 so i guess its working

R7 is an underpowered perhaps premeditated camera from the beginning and a new firmware won't fix it, we have to wait for gen2 with 2x faster sensor readout :(

No new features. Just "fixes minor issues". Since I am not having any issues, I'll likely pass.
I updated the R7 to the newest version 1.4 today jan 17, 2024 but I thought I was going to be able to touch OK on the touch screen to get it started but no I have to use the set button, click right to get to the ok to continue then i hit the set(ok) button to get started. Dang, live and learn but hate learning the hard way. Ha
