When I travel light for a shoot, I bring my r5 with the 28-70 f2 and 24 1.8 if it's heavy on video. Or 28-70 and 85 1.2 if heavy on photos. I prefer primes but when flying I've learned to go with less especially for hectic shoots when I don't have time to change lenses. I will be swapping out the 24 for the 10-20 when it finally comes

Great video as per usual, and as someone who also would reach for the FX3 for most professional situations and would love to play with something like the r5c (for sharpness and evf) but worry that the poor battery life and micro HDMI would complicate things. Yet, your rig looked simple to set up and fairly compact... on top of all the footage looking fantastic! Also, I feel like your drone skills aren't talked about enough, I'd love to hear your approach on flying and editing that footage as well one day.

Beautiful footage! I have a c70 and R5c and go back and forth on selling my c70 and just going all R5c. As you’ve demonstrated with your footage, using clog3 doesn’t have to be a negative. If it looks great, it looks great!

Thanks Dustin! Both are great cameras. The extra dynamic range of the C70 and Clog2 is definitely helpful in some situations, but you can get a lot done with the R5C and Clog3.

Great images. I love seeing what creators/pros actually shoot besides talking head. I love that you got "Comedy Mothership" in there! I had a small part in a movie with Joe Rogan. Great dude. Besides the battery there's a ton to like about the R5c. I use the same mic but I also bring the Comica wireless mic. That's a good fix if you need distance from the talent. I might even grab that bag. I have a hard back pack that the zipper just sucks. Good stuff bud. Well, if you find yourself back in Texas I'd be happy to loan you C70's/R5c for easy travel.

Thanks for sharing. Gotta say, ballsy move not taking even a micro kind of tripod but the interview stuff looks great in the clips you show. Hand held video always scares me but I don’t like gimbals either. That and no external light source. Ballsy #2. Speed on b-rolls is paramount, in a factory or Corp event. You never think you have enough, at least I don’t. I helps to know your gear and use it to its best ability. Looking forward to your next post!

You're welcome! Well I was working with some friends on this project so the gear we brought was kind of their call. We really needed minimal gear and a light kit because we were constantly moving around. A small tripod would have been nice for the interview shots. The final project will be fairly fast paced and the interview shots will only be used as short clips, no long form. So I think it all worked out really well. Thanks for watching!
