Amazing tip! I have this exact model the Canon MX492 and I thought it had broken completely because it would barely print anything at all despite having good levels of color and black left. I soaked the bottom of my cartridges in windex and warm water for about a minute then thoroughly dried off and put them back in and my printer is finally printing flawlessly again! Thank you so much!

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I hope you get it to work. Sometimes also a reason for one color running out faster than the others is because of printing more of that color, in your case printing more yellow. Anyway, I think you will see yellow after cleaning.

@ 303 Electronics. Have a few simple questions here to help me better understand. As well, little back history from me to help you understand me and the topic here. About me- been in the repair audio and electronics for decades. Just my own stuff now. So I understand some things here. I run a Lexmark X3470. Yes, a 3470 which is old as dirt. But only takes one cartridge and they are cheap till they are long gone. I spent months in study on how to refill a cartridge on this. After much error and finding right ink I master minded that long ago. On that cartridge. However I have learned you will trash the printer in a few ways over time when doing this. Also then try to put a orig back in it and ha ha. It ain't printing that quality from that orig cartridge because the refill done messed all up prior. I would say about 4 years ago I brought a new Canon MX490. Course the sample ink in it was low and when I ran out of ink that was it. Being ink is high dollar I left it sat since with cartridges in it till this day. Who knows if that wrecked stuff and dried out. I guess I will find that out on my own. I never did study this printer yet. So I have the following 1. I know alot of printers have the chip and or block if it is not a factory orig spec cartridge. At which the printer will error and not let you bypass. I see in the vid you used some 2nd grade cartridge. So have you ran into any issue of this exact printer blocking a 2nd grade cartridge? 2. Lastly I want to know can I run only 1 cartridge or it is gonna make you have both in it to operate printing? What I mean is say I don't want to shell out for color. Can I put just a black and white in it and print in such color with the color cartridge NOT installed? Thanks, will await reply before I go and buy a original anything.

My color cartridge is good but black grid is missing at lower part :( I followed ur step of cleaning with window cleaner and still my BK grid is missing in streaks :(... what can I do? the canon support guys asked me to clean the grey strip at the cartridge with q tip and rubbing alcohol. I am yet to do that. I have PIXMA TR4520

This is exactly what's up with mine. I have no magenta. I ran cleaning ..I am gonna try this and let you know

to save you from time and ink this does not always work, especially if you manually refill your cartridge, if you stamp the cartridge on paper and see a continues line but after some cleaning and still prints poorly it is time to replace the cartridge (for some reason it has only a limited number of prints and the chips gets toast.) -- been using canon for 15 years..

Boss, I have the TR4520. I was already using the refill cartridge for the black one without any problem. Then my color catridge ran out. I topped up both the catridge black and colour. Now I get the ‘blank ink volume unknown’ error and it won’t let me print. I tried nozzle check, deep cleaning, data reset, pressing the stop button for more than 5 seconds and nothing seems to be working. Any advice?

I refilled my cartridge and it worked fine. I had to refill again and am getting a “black ink unknown” message. I tried to reset but did not clear anything. Can’t remember what I did the first time to bypass the message. Any tips?

Sir what will i do with my canon pixma ts3480.. ive done all the cleaning, and wven checked the cartridge, stamped it on a tissue, theres no clog, but still when i print it, it still has so many white lines..

I've tried all of the cleaning. I've installed new cartridges but my Pixma MG3600 still prints a nozzle check (in portrait) with two white lines vertically 3.5cm apart through the horizontal lines of colour. On prints this shows as 2 cyan, yellow and magenta lines through the print, the lines are also 3.5cm apart and about 5mm wide. Can anyone help.

Have cleaned extensively but still getting a very thin blank horizontal line through the middle of text spaced about 1.5 inches apart.

That usually means ink cartridge going low. If not, then just let the printhead soak in about 1/8th of an inch in warm water mixed 50/50 with windex.

I cannot refill the cartridge, I have already cleaned the nozzles and the cartridge sponge and the printer head sponge. But I print figures with lines, unless I have set the printer to the high quality print option, so I print better.

There may be air in the cartridge. After you refill the cartridge, shake it down a few times to push ink down.

@@303electronics I've pulled out the air by a siringe and the specific tool after refilling.

No color is on the page and it stopped printing color nor long after I had it ,I printed the nozzle check all that was on the page was the very top line that’s on yours where it says BK and in the middle of the page it says “total 145 pages” under that “print 144 pages” and under that “blank 1 pages”

I am working on a Canon MX452 that uses 240 & 241 cartridges. Nozzle check started out blank but by using the deep cleaning function (many times)nozzle check is almost perfect except the 2nd cyan bar doesn't print and the short vertical black boxes on either side of the 2nd C, 2nd M & 2nd Y are orange instead of black. I've printed some color copies and they look fine, but would need to print more to judge quality. Any idea what's going on?

what do i do if it only print in a blue but barley any yellow i tried this but it didn't work for my problem.

Hi. Empty or dry ink cartridges or printhead is clogged with dry ink.

If you tried cleaning the ink and it isn't improving, unfortunately you will need a new ink cartridge. If you have vertical lines, see this video for fix: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mK58x8qjfrLThNY.html

Change cartridge, see if that's the issue. I even use aftermarket cartridges from ebay and Amazon and they work well.

It is possible that your cartridge ran out of magenta.
