This is a great video, thanks! Quick question in case you have a moment, why does this only occasionally work when I set the camera to TV mode? It works just fine in TV mode UNTIL I try it outside in the sun and then, it takes 5 shots, but the exposures are identical. In AV mode it's wonderful, does what I want every time...just not in TV mode. I'm trying to create a waterfall hdr shot, and TV mode is what I need to work. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I recommend Av mode. Simply because auto exposure bracketing works better when the camera is auto changing the shutter speed on its own. If you use Tv mode ( shutter speed priority) it will adjust the cameras aperture attempting to adjust for the bracketed exposure. Which may or may not always work and if it does, you very likely will end up with photos not stacking up well due to the brighter ones having a shorter focal plane due to using a larger aperture. So M or Av is what I recommend the most. BTW, in Manual mode it will still adjust the shutter speed on its own. Hope this helps.

Joe, great video! I'm having some trouble with the shutter on AEB mode. Everything is in full manual mode with my 80D. I'm bracketing 3 images (0,-2,+2) at 1 second exposure. The camera will always expose the images like: 1 second 4/1000th of a second 4 seconds My end result is an HDR timelapse and i was envisioning: 1 second 1 second 1 second Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or am I wrong to try and achieve this? As a follow up, is there any way to reduce the time of the 3rd exposure? I was hoping for a 5 second interval.

The camera will always adjust the shutter speed. Is not much way around it.

Hey Joe- I just Maya pro-looks like I need to switch to 7 shots to utilize it fully-it is training wheels for luminosity masks. Ever use it?

Hey Maxim, nah I never used it before. I purchased Aurora HDR a while back and it allows me more options then Lr with layer mask as well. 7 Shots can be good, but most of the time unless your camera has no dynamic range it can be overkill. Unless your trying to expose for the sun and the bottom of a cave at the same time :-D

Can AEB be used in Manual mode for shooting multiple RAW images with different exposures to be used in Lightroom for HDR? Set up the AEB the way you just explained? I don't shoot in JPEG, so the HDR mode is useless. What are my options other than manually adjusting the exposure for each shot?

Hello Michael. Yes you can use AEB in Manual mode shooting Raw. It will still function the same as in Av mode as it will adjust the shutter speed to bracket your images. So if you use manual mode, you will just need to set the exposure for your normal image, then the camera will simply adjust the shutter speeds for your over and under images. Hope this helps.

Joe's Photo & Video Channel What other software is available? I tried Photomatix for the PC today, not impressed. I would prefer to use an app with my 12.9" iPad Pro, but could use a PC if necessary.

There is also Googles Nik Collection that is free for PC and Mac. For you iPad try Pixelmator out. Luminar is for Mac, but PC version is in final testing phase from what I understand. Also there his Darktable which is a free open source Lr clone in a way. Try these out and see if you like any of them. Cheers, Joe
