    Hey I just want to say I really appreciate your support on each of my videos it truly mean a lot to me that you enjoy the content I make, thank you. I’ve been really interested in trying out a flexible tripod, I have little experience with them but they seem like solid options and I believe they would work fairly well to help stabilize footage when holding it. I’ll have to look into one sometime and let you know how it goes!

    Great video and tutorials bro, Planning to get myself a new camera, torn between 60d and 80d, can you do a video on 80d also? What would you suggest of the two for filming?

  • @thejacobbunn

    @thejacobbunn

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks a lot I really appreciate it! I’m actually really tempted to do a video on the 80d. I don’t own one at the moment but know someone who does so I may borrow it for a similar video! For filming the 80d is better because it can shoot 60 FPS, where the 60d can only do 30 FPS. If you’re not trying to spend a lot I think the 60d is more than capable and you can put money into lenses, but if you have the extra money the 80d is essentially a upgraded 60d. It shoots 24.2 megapixel photos has better AF, and the main thing I’d consider is the 60 fps for video. On the other hand though I’ve shot 30 fps and 24 fps and still get great results, just depends where you want to invest your money, both are pretty great!

    Sorry i just paused at the first tip, guys NEVER ZOOM IN AND THEN ZOOM OUT TO FOCUS, common photography lenses aren't parfocal which means that if you zoom in or out the focus point changes, slightly but changes. Just try to get the best focus with the focal you plan to use by using the magnification button, doing it with the optical zoom might seem better for a fast and almost accurate focus but it'll never be perfect

    hi thanks for your video I love how you explain things. I've just bought 60D but haven't been practicing a lot. I do have one question when shooting myself in front of camera I can't get the right focus on my face or body if I stay a few metres from the camera, and 60D doesn't connect with phone, so I need to come to the camera, press it (on countdown) and go to the position but didn't get the focus on my face.

  • @thejacobbunn

    @thejacobbunn

    Hey Suzy thanks for watching! Yeah that is definitely one of the struggles with the 60D shooting alone. I recommend putting something where you will be standing to get your focus on first (for example I put a lamp or a chair where I’ll be sitting or standing) then I move it out of the way and have my focus!

    Such a great and helpful video! Love your down-to-earth teaching style 💪🏻 I actually have a 60D I haven't been using for 5 years - since I upgraded for the 6D (mrk.1). I have a photography job next week and was thinking about testing out to make a short video for their website landing page as an extra service. Do you think I would be better off using the 60D (due to the flip out screen) than my newer 6D? What free pc program is great for editing a short (like 1-2 minutes) video and what resolution, aspect ratio etc. would be great to save it in when I edit it and upload for website use)? Thanks so much in advance - I am off to watch your other videos 😄

    Hey thanks so much for the kind words I really do appreciate it! That’s awesome, I think the 60d would be a good option for shooting a video for your client. I use the flip out lcd a lot, personally I think HitFilm Express is a really solid option for free. I would say though with editing software there is a bit of a learning curve so I’d give yourself an extra day to edit and get used to the editor. For exporting I’d stick with 1920x1080, 24FPS, and export it as a .mp4 or .mov, hope this helps!!

  • @thejacobbunn

    @thejacobbunn

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah so the FPS is frames per second and most movies are 24 FPS it’s usually the standard because this looks the most natural to the human eye. All my timelines when editing are 24 FPS but for example sometimes I’ll shoot “b-roll” footage at 30 FPS so I can slow it down in editing. So in general I’d suggest shooting at 24 FPS for most projects!

    So how about filming on a gimbal while camera folowing a subject or other cam movements? Autofocus does not really work and manual focus you can't see much on the small screen.

  • @thejacobbunn

    @thejacobbunn

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great question, it’s not always the easiest but I personally set my focal length a bit higher (f/8 for example) to make sure if the distance I keep for the movement isn’t exact they don’t go out of focus and if so it’s just the slightest amount, that way I can always lower it more. It is difficult though especially when shooting in low light, you have to be a lot more accurate with the camera movements than someone using say a camera with spot on autofocus. Potential try attaching your gimbal to a tripod for more stability.

    Hi what gimbal you use for canon 60D? Most of the gimbal in market is not compatible with 60D, appreciate if you can advise on this thx 🙏

    Hey thanks for watching! I use the Ronin-S essentials kit. I mainly use it for the stabilization since the 60d is too old for the focus wheel to be compatible. I’ve noticed it really helps to get smooth footage though!

    It’s all up to personal preference, I think a 50mm 1.8 lens is great but also enjoy the 18-55mm kit lens. I suggest use what you have now and then build up the quality of your gear as you can afford it!

    Found a 60d for $300 with a 24-200mm lens… I shoot dirt bikes, cars, and f1 cars, would this camera be good for that. I do video and photos

    Yeah for photos it would be a solid option! For video it may not be the best because it only does 30 FPS but you could still get some nice shots!

    Hey Sandy thanks for watching. It should be able to, you might just be in the wrong settings menu. I’d look around more for the 1080 30fps selection in the menus.

    I’d suggest investing in the 50mm 1.8. Shooting at 1.8 allows you to shoot in very little light without noise. Otherwise I’d suggest adding more light to your scene by getting some sort of portable light source!

    This camera is NOT for video in 2020, it doesn't have continuous focus and that's an automatic deal breaker. Stop recommending it

    I mean it’s not the highest standard for video but it’s not bad at all. I recommend it for how affordable it is, and it’s a great way for people to learn the actual mechanics for videography and filmmaking rather than just relying on autofocus
