Hi Leah , Appreciate the information on the R6. I'm a landscape and wildlife photographer from central Ohio. Plans on getting the R6 in the coming months. The eye auto focus obviously for my birds of prey. I'm very excited and believe it is really going to increase my keeper rate. Your doing great things. Keep up the good work.

When it came to image quality, the 5D IV was a beast! In fact it was heaps better than the EOS-R despite them supposedly having the same sensor. I shot both for years and the 5D IV files were clean as a whistle even at ISO 12800, even when pushed and pulled and required almost no noise reduction. I found the R files were far more fragile and showed a fair bit of banding in the shadows if the files were pushed or pulled at almost any ISO (Tony Northrup found this and shows it in a video comparison). I suspect this is a mirrorless issue as I've seen the same issue with the Nikon mirrorless offerings compared to the DSLRs. The only thing I didn't really like on the 5D IV was the autofocus. The R was much better in this regard and was a more fun camera to use - though that didn't make up for the image quality reduction compared to the 5D IV. The R6 looks fantastic but there are few weird things. Of course there is that downgrade in MP. But also the build. The R was built almost identically to the R5 with a metal body, large higher res LCD, and top LCD (which I love). The R6 costs 50% more than the R but is a plastic shell (though it feels good), has a smaller, lower res LCD and no top LCD.

I used to have two 5DIII's and just upgraded to the R6 and I love it !

Good short video Leah, thanks!!! I'm sure that your pictures on weddings will be very nice!! I came from a old Canon AE-1, 35mm to many other Canon DSLR cameras, included the 5D MKIV, R6 and R5. There's a big improvement from the 5D to the R cameras especially on the AF. I love my Canon cameras... Well enjoy your new camera and I'm sure that your clients will be very happy.

@rick ross What do you prefer....MKiv or R6? I've been shooting for 30 years and I just love the lcd on top of the body. Don't care for crazy high ISO...back in the day on film, 1600 was the highest I'd shoot at and it looked terrible.

@@RotterStudios between both the R6 but the R5 it's another story.. All the problems that I have with the 5D MKiv disappear with the R5 and many pictures I shoot with 3200 ISO and they are all clear. Also many of my pictures with 1 second to 2000 no problems. The R6 it's very good in low light, faster and you can shoot in low speeds and have a clear picture if you compare to the 5D. The problem it's the prices. It's up to you since you like me have 30 years shooting.

This has definitely helped with my decision to veer towards the R6. It'll be my main camera (with my 90D moving to the back-up) mostly for sports photography. Even with the lower Megapix and the amount of photos that get cropped, the low light capability and auto-focus system is really appealling.

Even I year later, and I’m so happy and grateful for your video. I have been racking my brain between these two cameras, and you just helped me make my decision. The Canon R6 mark 11 for the win 🥇 Also, fyi I live in Ohio as well (O-H!) Actually planning to upgrade this week. I also use the 5D iv (also Ohio photographer 😊) and last year I got the RP for my second body but its more frustrating than helpful so I’ve decided its time for the R6

The R6 may be slightly better, but you can pick up a used 5Dmk4 pretty cheap if you look around. I just bought a used one in excellent condition for $800 last week. For that price, I’ll take the 5Dmk4 all day long. Plus the lenses are cheaper. Now if I was a pro like you, I would get the R6 or the R5, or one of the newer Sonys. You have to try really hard to buy a bad camera today.

I honestly might look into the r5 for heavy cropping for the best quality. I think it's okay on the r6, but i do see a difference from my 5d to the r6 liking the crop on the 5d slightly better.

Hi! I believe the 5d mark iv has a slightly bigger screen. R6 is 3.0'' and 5d mark iv is 3.2''. I don't notice much of a difference

@@jordanflostroy1068 I am actually not sure tech wise, looking at both I actually find the 5d’s to be a bit bigger than the r6. Almost looks like the r6 is thinner, but again that’s just from what I see!

I started with an AE-1 when they were new; still have a beautiful F1n and a good bit of ED glass. Still shoot film as that approach to photography makes one consider and compose prior to pressing the shutter. Todays camera's are something just short of magic! I bought a 5D MKII new, when they were released plus, I have a good bit of EF-L glass collected over the years. The 5DII has an exposure and autofocus issues and Canon won't repair it, too old. In truth, it's not cost effective as used are about $250 - $300'ish. So, although I looked fairly hard at an R6 w/ RF->EF adaptor, I don't give a whit about video so I chose a used 5D IV from KEH.

I haven’t actually gotten a mic yet, all audio is from the camera I filmed with which was the r6!

I don't like mirrorless cuz the image is too sharp n the contrast is different I just love classic 5d mark4 back then like 5d mark2 🙊😊

I use canon 5d mark iv and i upgraded to canon r3 but the 5d best than r3 , i really love 5d and i can’t get order without it

What lens do you use? Did you keep your same lens and get a adapter?

I kept all of my same EF lenses, and yes I got the control ring adapter!

I’m really torn between these two cameras to upgrade to. I’m coming from a rebel 5i. I’m really leaning towards the R6, as I really like the low light performance everyone is talking about, the per second speeds, and the autofocus speeds

Can you use the same 5D lenses with the R6 with an adapter? Or do I have to invest again?

Yes you can adapt EF lenses with the ef-rf adapter just fine and they work even better on the rf system!

I love my 5d, and do miss the 30.4 mp, but as it ages it shows, especially in the focusing where the r6 excels. Hard decision both are great cameras, but since the photo world is moving in a mirrorless direction I would probably choose the r6, or even wait and look at the r5!

I have the 5d mark 4 and the only reason to really upgrade is the 4k and the focus seems better but for a 2022 the r6 should be far better

Which camera has better build quality and which is more likely to survive harsh shooting conditions and knocks?

Both are solid builds, the 5d is a bit heavier and bulkier but i wouldn't say that makes it necessarily the better one for harsh conditions. Both are great!

When I tested out the r6 the build quality felt cheap to me, but the mk iv is built like a tank it's also weather sealed. I don't believe the r6 is though.

The weather-sealed metal body of the 5D mIV is not "necessarily better?" than a plasticky mirrorless? This is either a joke or they pay this kid to make you buy new expensive stuff. Dlrs can go through hell and back and the MIV was one the best and used by a lot of pros, but don't believe me and just do some research. Also, influencers are paid to advertise stuff so you may be better off with forums where the real pros share their opinion.

How about the 5dsr that's the inexpensive one with big MP

Yes, the R6 is good. Heavy cropping? Don't do that.

Canon 5d mark4 is great

5DIV all day long, you can keep mirrorless.

@@Panotaker The ONLY reason why she succeeded in securing a career for herself as a photographer is because she was born to privileged parents who could afford to lend her the money to purchase photographic equipment. I never look upto those born into privileges, as 80% of their successe are down to the parents they were born to. Underprivileged people possess more talent than privileged people who just got lucky to be born to the parents they were born to.

She literally gives a bunch of reasons why it's better. I have used both, and she's right.

All 5D Series including last 5DMKIV Image Quality and Excellent Build Quality (Alloy Magnesium) are FAR better than this crappy Canon R6 plastic Feel crap. I Can't Stand of R6 and R5 and Don't Care. What a Shame!! Canon figured out they need to cut out money in build quality.

Instead of watching some 19 year old kid read the specs from each cameras spec sheet go out and try each camera to see which one works for you. Unfortunately, KZread provides an opportunity for people with this level of knowledge and experience to influence people new to photography. Rent each camera and test them yourself rather than being influenced by someone like this.
