I have constantly on the 1.4x III on my 200-400mm. Additionally I can put the internal 1.4x in place and I ended up surprised how sharp the images are despite 2 TCs used. Amazing!

It will definitely work for outside sports, you might struggle if you do anything indoors

@@joewhitnallphotography8819 Interesting, that's what I am looking at too. 200mm too short for birds etc and an extender is a lot better value that going to another lens. Did you try the 2x on that lens as well? Was it any good?

Absolutely no qualms about running a 1.4TC vIII on my 400mm f2.8 IS vI. Also running 1Dx2 and a 5D4
