Canoe Trip Through The Patagonia Wilderness | Solo & Windbound (Part 1)
Are you ready for an adrenaline-fuelled adventure that will take you through the heart of Argentina's Patagonian untouched wilderness? Join me on a solo canoe trip as I brave the treacherous Limay River, pushing my limits as I navigate through class 2 rapids in the midst of remote and isolated stretches.
But it’s not just the rapids that pose a challenge. With water temperatures plunging to bone-chilling lows and daily highs barely hitting 6°C, hypothermia is an ever-present danger. And just when I thought I had everything under control, the wind picked up to a staggering 45 mph, threatening to send me spiralling off course.
But I refused to be beaten. Armed only with my wits and my trusty canoe, I pressed on, camping out in the wild and taking in the breathtaking vistas along the way.
This is not a journey for the faint of heart. But for those brave enough to take on the Limay River, the rewards are beyond measure. So come with me and let’s explore the pristine beauty of Patagonia together. Get ready for this exhilarating adventure!

Thanks Andy - I think you're right buddy, I've actually never tried paddling the pakcanoe with a double paddle but no doubt it could have been a super asset on this trip. I need to test one out and invest in a good one bud. Thanks for the tip!
Patagonia is beautiful. I feel for you with the wind brother. My boy and I kayaked to flatford in Suffolk recently and we hit strong winds boy did I ache the next day. Thanks for sharing mate

Thanks so much buddy! I did actually try that towards the end, but I ran a small rapid that way and felt so weird that it put me off! Was super spiny.. on flat water I guess that would be sustainable though and can see the potential! Thanks so much for the tip!

Stunning area mate! Yeah weather wasn't too bad, just the wind made it v difficult to control and progress! The area is considered a desert given how little rain it gets. Just 50-100km north of that, rain does precipitate, and this river is fed by a massive lake called Nahuel Huapi!

@@EzeAdventurer really looks it! The drone footage and the early morning mist over the water etc, this rivers a good find!! One of your best solo films to date. I'm guessing autumn is approaching Patagonia which I'm also guessing could go either way weather wise with a risk of sunburn one day and heavy snow the next. Either way life is too short not to take the opportunity if it's there...although you should have taken one of your kids to look after you 😉
@EzeAdventurer
Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!!! Exactly right, sunburn or snow could go either way! Definitely needed one of the kiddos to add more responsibility to the trip :-) thanks for coming along for the ride as always bud
Great video. How do you like the Pakcanoe? Deciding if I should buy one for my Wabakimi trip coming up. I am in Florida. Any issues checking it in with the airlines?
@EzeAdventurer
4 ай бұрын
It's an amazing boat! PROPER expedition canoe. No issues checking it in. I bought a long snowboard sort of carry bag for the poles and seats and other bits, and used a separate bag for the skin and the floor, makes me packing and transportation easier in my opinion. Doest take a good hour to build it, also make sure you get a yoke if you're going to be portaging!! PS. Wouldn't you be better off renting a canoe in Wabakimi? I bought this boat because Patagonia doesn't have any open canoes. If a rental option was available, I'd personally prefer to rent. They are lighter weight and no faff to build and unbuild etc?
Hey. What is the brand of that canoe? It looks awesome.

Hey friend its the pakcanoe 150t by pakboats !±
Oh, and next time, when the wind is forecast to be strong and gusty, bring along lots of water for ballast to stop that spinning madness. Three 5 litre bottles would do it. Works for me.

@@EzeAdventurer It really was, oh, and nice big round, smooth stones are also a good form of ballast, too. Try it next time, and then dump the stones when no longer needed. Or even a couple of heavy logs. Always look to nature when the headwind bites.
What a great adventure, pal! Looked like you had a dream one. You're gaining in confidence with every video. I can see it. You'll soon be doing the Yukon solo like The Baird Brothers the way you're going. It's great to see! I've removed all my distractions so I'm out of touch with updates. I'm lost in my own, too, except I've now taken to swimming the places with my kayak and gear as nothing more than a glorified safety float tied to me, trailing behind haha! The curse of buying a modern all-in-one mask and snorkel, and flippers...I'm now starting to understand why I'm a Mad Irishman ;-) Keep on adventuring, bro!

Thanks so much man!! Snorkelling and swimming the areas that sounds epic and intense!! Hope you stay warm buddy but sounds awesome. @@EzeAdventurer Haha - sounds like something I'd do. If it gets you where gotta go it works. I wear a thick 4 mm wetsuit so I'm cosy, along with gloves, head cover, and wetsuit socks. I'm actually warmer in the water than I am in the canoe in the rain and wind. It's the beauty of the waterworld beneath, man, it's has to be seen it's stunning under there.
