The Caterpillar ride is a vintage flat ride engineered by the inventor Hyla F. Maynes of North Tonawanda, New York, who dubbed it the Caterpillar when it debuted in Coney Island, New York in 1925.

Brilliant! Thank you for this information although a big part of me prefers Carpetbaggers description of "a ride for people who don't like scenery" 🤣 it's such a delightful ride 💖

Man, I thought that was bs, but they literally just filmed in front of the canobie corkscrew (not featured) and nothing else. How bizarre. It appears that the marketing firm the company hired was Boston based. They must have simply looked up the most intimidating coaster in the area, with the best filming angle and decided to film there.
the young dudes being so enthusiastic about an old coaster was awesome. love to see it.
That dark ride is like Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and The Mummy combined!

The commercial for that game was filmed at Canobie Lake Park, that could be why.
"What is a Psychodrome?" Everyone in northern New England grins evilly, knowing exactly what you're in for. Funtown in Saco, Maine, used to have the same ride, called the Stratosphere, except that one featured deafening heavy metal music and random terrifying images projected onto the inside of the dome, along with the flashing lights. (Chicken being beheaded, anyone?) Those rides are an experience, for sure.
Hey Jacob! Thanks for coming to visit my home! Was a pleasure meeting you! - the antique autos guy
Jacob your reactions to the rides are more fun than the rides themselves lol Love your child-like enthusiasm :)

I love that you are in NH & that you actually went to & featured Canobie Lake Park. I go to Canobie Lake Park at least once every summer. Soon they'll be transferring over to Halloween there too. It's called Screamfest as you saw & it's amazing. I could be wrong, but I think Labor Day weekend is actually the last weekend that Canobie Lake Park is open for the summer. I think once they close after this weekend, that's when they start to transfer over for Screamfest which actually opens just in a couple of weeks.

@@spookymummabaker9678 Oh awesome! Thank you for letting me know! That me & my husband's wedding anniversary! I think I know how we're going to spend our anniversary this year. Best part is we have relatives who live 5 minutes away from Canobie Lake, so we'll probably stay with them that night so we don't have to drive home to Boston once the park closes for the night.

I used to go ever summer when I was a kid. Love that place! 💗💗💗💗
This was my hometown amusement park. My class went there every year before the last day of school. You basically went on every ride that I was afraid of going on when I was a kind, sans the corkscrew. Thank you for this blast from the past!
That Dark Ride looks awesome (The Egyptian Tomb bit is quite random, but so cool), also the Caterpillar ride is rather distinct. Finally loved the reactions to Turkish Twist, Psycho Drome, Untamed, and Yankee Cannonball!!!
Yay you’re up my way! I always went there every summer with my camp as a kid. It’s amazing how much it has expanded and changed in just the past few years! If they are doing it this year, you should go in October for the haunted house!

Same here! Haven't been to Canobie in like 9 years since they unveiled Untamed.
I never laughed as hard at any of your videos as you on the Psycho Drome! 😄😄😄 That was awesome, Jacob! I'm a proud patreon supporter and you never disappoint! 💯😄👍🏼
Drome is a suffix, means “ running course “ is in Hippodrome. (Greek chariot and horse racing course)
You are the creator of bucket list. Love the older parks. Great job again Jacob !
Finally in my neck of the woods!! I’ve asked for this video forever so glad you came!

My Wife was epileptic, and it makes me happy when I see people actually putting flashing light warnings before videos.
So fun to see vlogs in all of my childhood parks recently - hope you're enjoying your time in the North!
I was just there with my daughter! Had a feeling you would be in the Northeast soon. Too bad we missed you. We love canobie.
Those kids on the roller coaster were hysterical...

When I was a child we went to Belle Vue amusement park near Manchester England . They had a caterpillar ride and I was sick as a dog 😂😂. Oh and hello from northern England xx
Went here a few years back with my girls, I’m a huge dark ride fan so that was my favorite ride, beautiful clean park
Please please please come back for screamfest!!!!!! There’s many different haunts with different themes, I’ll actually be working there this year with my friends who are avid watchers of yours! I think you would enjoy it!
Jacob, in the Mine of Lost Souls, at the very end when the guy says “you thought you were safe, think again”, there used to be water that rushed down that trough to the right making you feel like it was going to pour on you

I miss some of the features of Canobie that don’t work/run anymore. I also remember right after Michael Jackson passed, they had a huge MJ statue at the front of the park. My whole family took photos posing with it that summer. So many good memories at this park.
this trip was vicious to you ride-wise haha, especially w the surprise/hidden carnival rides!
The two guys on the coaster were great. This was a great video. Thanks for the fun.
I love how he goes on rides he hates just so we can see what the ride is like. You're the best Jacob!
I went to Canobie many times as a child and I went on school trips there at the end of every year. After high school I worked there one summer in the Kiddie Land area as my first job . The Turkish Twist is one of my fave rides. Kids use to try and stand upside down or in cool poses but operators make you stand straight these days . if you stand on the bridge of the Boston Tea Party and get splashed you will be soaked for the rest of the day and on a hot day it’s a relief and you will dry quickly .There is slight scent of molasses piped in the Boston Tea Party area to reference The Great Molasses Flood . The Yankee Cannon Ball was my first big rollercoaster as a kid. I’m so glad to see this and relive childhood memories even thought I’m late . I’m gonna try to go again this summer !
Hey there Carpet bagger ! So i went to the mine of lost souls last week 08/31/21 and i went on youtube last week and searched to see if you came here and you didnt. Today i see that you just came over to my neck of the woods to ride my beloved mine of lost souls. its a great ride, i love how the bolders just scare the crap out of you and the ghosts are just pretty chill. Ive been a resident of MA and have been riding this dark ride my whole life. Thank you for coming to visit and documenting this WONDERUS occasion :] . This seriously has made my day. I think this may be the best ride in New England. thank you again

This is where my husband and I had our first date. I love this park.
I always loved the caterpillar ride at the Clark County fair and the Ohio state fair many years ago!
Excellent quality of props in Mine of Lost Souls. Actually, what a great park in general. Jacob, look up "Green Man" That's your guy made of vegetables.
What a cool beautiful park! Loved the dark ride!

You make haunted houses and roller-coaster rides so much better to watch
Thanks Jacob. When we used to live in Mass, my family would take me up their to Canobie Lake Park. In fact, I had my first date there with my late wife and her two boys. (I have one boy myself). Thanks again.
The scrambler was always my favorite ride!!! Times in our country are so low right now so thank you for the much needed distraction. I feel a whole lot better 😁❤️😁❤️
I’m crying. Finally a video at my favorite place on earth. Wish I got to meet you! ❤️❤️❤️
I haven't been to Canobie in forever. The Lost Souls is my favorite haunted house of all time. Good to know that the Turkish Twist is still there. I might have to take a trip out sometime this summer.
So glad you could visit our local amusement park! Great wooden coaster!
I grew up in NH and have been to Canobie Lake many times. We always pronounced it Can-O-Bee. I live in NC now and was back in NH this summer and heard an ad on the radio and they pronounced it the same way you did in the intro. I was shocked to hear the way they said it on the radio but then thought ok maybe we have been saying it wrong all these years. Thanks for the great video bringing back to the days of my childhood. Cheers.
Hi Jacob! Yes chickens can fly a short distance and a drome is a large structure at an airport where aircraft can be stored and maintained
every summer growing up and school field trips, Love Canobie! Yes chickens can fly, somewhat, not like those though... so much fun! Thanks for sharing
I really love you Jacob you stick by your guns don't use profanity and are positive thinker very kind it's always a pleasure being around you
Love it! Very old school. They had a caterpiller ride at old Norumbega Park in Newton, MA You made my day!!
Impressive rides here.... Especially Psycho Drome! Never found one like it before... Untamed was one wicked little coaster!
I haven’t been to Canobie Lake Park since I was a child! I remember the Caterpillar well! Oh yes, Scrambler in the Dark! That was a favorite too! 😂 it may have had a different name, back then, but glad it’s still there! ❤
YES this is my childhood theme park! And love the trolley park lesson - I had no idea 😲 I love seeing pics when the park was new and everyone was wearing gowns and suits 🥺👏🏻
when i was a kid i would ride that mine like five times in a row but the shooting gallery used to scare the heck outta me. that buzzard on the tree hehe
This park looks like so much fun. So many unique rides and a really beautiful lake. I live so far away. But it's in my goals list to visit there
Wow, in New Hampshire. I went back in the very early 90's when I lived there. Cool place.
Thanks for all the fun,joy and laughter you've brought to us.
The Turkish twist has been a right of passage for teenagers in New England for the past 40 years... It's no joke
Thank you once again, Jake, for subjecting yourself to torture for our amusement. PSYCHO DROOOME!
That is an awesome park. It has to be one of the best I have seen you feature . The dark ride was spectacular. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
Welcome to NH!! I love Canobie and have been going there for 30 years!!
As someone who gets dizzy easily, that human spinning ride looks horrifying
Ive defintly searched your channel for this park before!!! Its the only one ive been to in the US. Soo happy to see this! Thank u!
Never been there but looks like a nice little park to have a fun day at. That carousel and swing ride were both beautiful.
I recognized the caterpillar as soon as I saw the cover. Used to ride one at Idora Park in Youngstown, OH back in the day. The ride is best at night as the cover makes it pitch black inside. It's a make-out ride, once the cover is on, you go to fun town.
Sigh... memories, my Childhood was spent Here 3 Summers... but dang had a chance to run into THE Carpetbagger n never even knew he was up near Massachusetts, oh well hope you enjoyed your visit Jaccob!!!
Thanks for sharing Jacob, I spent a lot of time inside that park as a teenager with friends and this brought back a lot of great memories. Keep up the awesome content
My parents took me and my brother here when I was really little. I remember us calling it "Canopy Lake Park and Sale" because that's what my brother and I thought the commercial said.
That's funny Jacob! I was just there at Canobie today. I took the boat ride, the Psychodrome, the train ride and the Cannonball rollercoaster. It was wonderful weather. I just happen to come across your video. I enjoyed it. I just wish the park didn't close so early at 7pm. I remember it open much later.
It's so rare anyone comes to NH I love when you're here! I went to Canobie once, it was very hot and a girl had heat stroke and fainted on my shoulder 😬 definitely a fun memory for it hahah
i can’t believe you’re there that’s my favorite amusement park!!!!
So glad you were able to check out Canobie, it has always been my favorite park to go to closer to Maine. I just took my family on the mine of lost souls and they loved it. I hope you can come back for screeemfest sometime, they have awesome scare actors and lots of haunted houses, not just the clown one.
Heck yea , 10 Mins from my house ! So glad u went !!!
The Psycho Drome takes the Scrambler to the next level. One of my favorite rides, made in Jacksonville, IL about an hour away from me.
Hey that’s my states park! So awesome to have you in NH Carpet Bagger :)🤘🏻🌲 also the mine of lost souls is my all time favorite to go ride at the park ⛏💀
I love that dark ride! Been going to this park since I was a kid!
I have know idea how I missed this video in September but this place is on my list just for the dark ride.Their animatronics are insane and that is a long ride.Very cool.
Lol I love the two guys at the end coaster. Awesome vid and I definitely love how unique the rides are for sure.
My favourite park! Screeemfest is super fun and scary! We often go down to visit Canobie and Nightmare New England during haunt season!
I have grown up going to Canobie and I love the paintball game i’m not a rollercoaster person so the little games are my favorite and Castaway Island is amazing so cool seeing you up in my next of the woods!
It is so cool that you made your way back to my home state NH! I've been to Canobie Lake Park many times! I live on the coast of NH so I'm not far from it. I hope you'll make many more visits to NH, there's so much more to see here!
There's another caterpillar at Idewild Park in Ligonier PA
The Turkish Twist is just like a ride I used to ride at my hometown park World's of Fun, our version was called The Finishing Fling. I knew exactly what it was as soon as I seen it on your camera! Lol.
They had a ride like the Turkish Twist at Astroworld in Houston, Tx called the Barrel of Fun and they had a ride like the Psyco Drome called the Orbiter. I loved them way back in high school.
The caterpillar is an old amusement ride found at the trolley parks years ago. I grew up riding one at Kennywood park.
My home town park! We used to call it Cannibal lake park ! WOW it has changed a lot since I've been!
This is like the rotor ride in the New York park that was closed when you went great channel been enjoying for a couple years
Jacob with our favourite theme park history today! Love ya!
AAAAH CANOBIE!!! I’m sitting here this morning wearing my oversized hoodie from a field trip there years ago and watching this. It brings back memories I didn’t realize I still had. I’m glad you got to make it out there!
Idlewild used to have a Caterpillar just like that - canopy and all - back when I was a kid.
What a great Dark Ride! Love the concept of going through a mine and it turns into an Egyptian Mummy Tomb! Love your Channel! It's great!
Those two guys on the roller coaster towards the end of the video were great lol
We have been to Canobie 12 times this year. Glad to see you were there! Stay safe. - Jeffrey
