The reason is Islam is the native religion in the country unlike western countries. Government of Russia recognised Orthodox, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism as such.

met an exchange student as a uni student decades ago. in a students gathering, i was waiting in line to take wudu before performing magrib. behind me was a Russian girl. i straightforwardly told her that the toilet is just across the room. "no, i want to take wudu too," she said. back then i've never seen caucasian muslim, so i asked her, "a convert?" "no, my grandparent and before them are muslims. all my families, my uncles and my aunts are muslims. we also fast just like you." being a student who never had a chance to see the world and thought that muslims didn't exist in Europe, i had the longest waooow in my life. Albina, if you read this, i hope you lead a super happy life! hugs from Indonesia.

You are missing the bus. Since you are neither clear with Islamic ideas nor with vast Indian religious texts, your apprehension taunts. India is the best place for Islam to flourish than any other country. Last known prophet of India Adishankarar taught Indians not to worship other God than one God. Looks like surprise, u have to read it. By traveling various places of India and learning various scripts available he suggested names of NARAYANAN, VASUDEVAN, VITHTHALA, ... all names existing those times those places. Ask your Brahmin friends, priests, Vedic scholars. Only Muslims need to prepare to welcome them. Prepare means prepare, like how you prepare your house to welcome guests. That's it. Do not worry. (How idolatry entered such saints mutts is some sortof history. )
