I think this is the buff that it needed. No way someone was gonna pay for that and it just felt like a "pay to lose offer"

I wouldn’t say it was pay to lose because it was pretty decent in a lot circumstances surprisingly. But, it was kind of the fact that the princess tower is reliable at what she does compared to the cannoneer of which makes no reason to really use the cannoneer.

Cannoneer is not part of the card pool, is a tower like the princess. So theoretically the healthiest state would be 50/50 usage rate for both towers.

it should theoretically be 25/75 in favor of princess simply because princess is MEANT to be more versatile and usable but 6% is just outright dumb. I won’t lie the fact that it’s currently pay to win is dumb but if it wasn’t it should be 25% to 75%

As long as it isn't stronger than princess towers Idc. It should be a viable alternative option, not a replacement/higher level to the F2P stuff like evolutions ended up being.

Evolutions the idea is technically balanced, but since not every card has an evolution yet thats the problem. I think other than releasing op cards to sell them, supercell is going the right direction with this game. Evolutions and tower troops bring much needed heterogeneity to the game that wouldve been boring and cyclical.

While it was needed, i dont think this should be called a buff. More of a fix. Doesnt make sense to have the same listed range as the princess without the same interactions with troops regarding kiting and building placement

This was exactly the buff I thought it needed to be on par with the princess. Having less health makes sense because the cannoneer takes less damage from almost every non-swarm interaction.

And then you can make your deck cover your tower's swarm weakness and your reward is his strength helping you defend medium/large units way better, especially now with the range buff.

I've been against a Cannoneer buff to keep it from wrecking the meta, but this seems tame enough.

I think the current meta could use some wrecking tbh. It would be fun to mix things up and force the top players to try new things in order to adapt

Oj mentioned Ice Golem pairs extremely well with the cannoneer. 2.6 players are gonna have a field day with that one😂

@@pvzmariosonica8fan 2.6 became really op with cannoner rn, replace fireball with poison and ice spirit with electro spirit (to help with swarms) and you can get some extremely powerful defenses with him

I've gotten 4 tower troop packs and all princesses love it

tbh i think cannoneer is perfect now. i mean we'll have to wait n see but now it feels like a good trade-off thats actually worth using in some decks that are ok at dealing with swarms but struggle against tanks. the hp should probably stay lower tho, that way it doesnt become better than the princess tower and makes it less p2w. i think most tower troops should be like that too so the princess tower is always the best overall but the other ones are good options for specific niches

A bit random but I was having a really bad day yesterday so I watched the whole of the global tournament stream boss did a few days ago. I would really recommend it to anyone who’s not seen it yet. Is much less intense on stream so boss has time to be himself a bit more and interact with his chat. I found it really entertaining and honestly quite hilarious. I managed to get 23-5 thanks too your guidance. Thanks boss, you really cheered me up yesterday🙂

If all tower troops were acquired equally, there would be little prejudice for which is the strongest. If cannoneer was not pay to acquire, few would care if it became the strongest tower troop.

Yesterday I was trying to see the usage stats for tower troops on royale API. Maybe I missed something but I couldn't find it anywhere

I genuinely cannot understand how they would implement a whole new mechanic regarding the princess towers, when CR can’t even keep up with balancing normal units. The first ever change to princess towers turned out to be Pay to Lose and an emergency buff, clueless game company.

It's more of a "bug correction" than a buff but yeah really needed that one for sure

I think the tower troops should work as sidegrades to the princess tower, i dont think the princess tower should always be slightly better, I think it should be just as good but a more consistent option as the sidegrades fill more niches than the princess tower.

Everytime i think about coming back to this game. There's always some outrage in the communy that holds me back

I would call that a necessary fix but the cannoneer still needs another buff to be viable.

I feel like the Cannoneer needs another buff, adding splash damage (even reduced damage so it can deal with Skeletons easier). Would it make it completely overpowered? Likely. Would the community outrage be funny? Certainly.

The splash should be the one of an ice/heal spirit so it won’t one shot the minion horde or anything like that

When people say range they mean by how far their attack go, eg. Magic archer shoots farther than he sees while knight sees farther than he can attack

I think the new towers should be a way to mitigate hard counters to your actual deck and they should pair with certain archetypes.

Lets need a small splash buff for it to be decent tower troop. Either that or attack rate increase.

As someone who's run Royal Hogs Queen EQ since 2022, your pigs deck varient deck doesn't have fire spirit is wild to me. As a genuine question, why are you running Ice Spirit over Fire Spirit? So many key interactions come from comboing Fire Spirit (Killing Royal Hogs, Flying Machine, and Skeleton Dragons w/ Delivery and countering most swarm units/countering barrel in tandom with skeletons.) I'd love to hear your thought process.

The cannoneer paves way for buffs to the furnace as now we'd have a universal counter. Maybe increased spawn speed more fire spirits overall = more damage on princess towers = more reason to use cannoneer.

Even with a deck like this which is better at taking care of swarms, I still think normal tower is better. It for sure is gonna get another buff.

I kinda hope this change doesn’t do to much, it’s not cause I hate the cannoneer and hope it fails. It’s just that I hate the very idea of tower troops, it’s like supercell was trying to think of an idea to both deter new players and annoy veterans by forcing them to learn over 100 new interactions.

The only buff i think he needs now is to have the same or more similar health as the princess
