Figured I'd finally do another one of these. This one has been covered by others a bit more often than other songs I've tackled have, but I thought it was worth a shot to get in a different bassist and artist that you don't always see me play - Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse.
There's some details a lot of covers tend to be missing I think, such as the ascending root, harmony, octave, harmony part during the first verse starting at 0:31. In addition, there's the chords at 1:45 and 2:20, which really help make those mid tempo sections even heavier and snappier.
Always loved Alex's work on the whole album. It's the last one of theirs where a four string bass is used alongside the Eb tuning. As a result, it really speaks to me to hear Alex's more technical playing style combined with the earlier tones and stylings that the band had. Always thought a lot of his licks on this one are Roger Patterson inspired (I've heard him mention Roger's work in an interview, so I figure that's the case). As well as probably some Sadus inspired bass parts too (after all, he had their sticker on his P bass! And don't get me started on how badass Alex is on a P bass, you know why 😁)
