""Blood Blind" was the first song musically that I wrote for the new album "Chaos Horrific". It all started with that funeral march of a first riff floating around in my head and it took off from there. Heavy and disturbing, it worked it's way into an aggressive smorgasbord of depth and swirling darkness! I thought it would be great to collaborate with Paul and have him write lyrics adding to the dynamics and sickness of it all…" - Erik Rutan
"Blood Blind is about mass mutilations to reset the human race in a genocide that was embraced by the masses." - Paul Mazurkiewicz

BLOOD BLIND
Music: Erik Rutan / Lyrics: Paul Mazurkiewicz
Seas of gore as far as the eye can see
Saturating the vision
Eternal hate this is not a fallacy
Contaminate all that lives
Subjugate the mind
Blood Blind
See no more for the eyes no longer see
Discernible division
Internal flux carnage filled ecstasy
Desecrate all that dies
Left lifeless
In the aftermath of a bargained fate
Torn to shreds
In the genocide that was embraced
Mass mutilations to reset the human race
Predetermined to ensure a future
Blurred murders
This sanguine flood an abomination
Countless bodies that were slaughtered
Violent death the only offer
Rotting in a vile grave was the only way
Worthless beings were out numbered
Laid to waste the only answer
Giving in to savagery most of them were slain
Ruthless manner integrated
Carry out the massacre
Killing with hostility crave to decimate them all
Flawless in the ways of evil
Thriving on malignancy
Pools of blood the earth is covered
Pawns of primal doom
(RUTAN SOLO)
(BARRETT SOLO)
Subjugate the mind
Blood Blind
Mass mutilations to reset the human race
Predetermined to ensure a future
Left lifeless
In the genocide that was embraced

Actually, if you paid *very close attention* to EVERY album they put out, you’ll notice the change in real time. Skull - EP was in ‘89. Eaten was more thrashy in sound. Butchered was a DRASTIC change. It had elements that were experimental, but also some of the sickest riffs as well. Tomb was *subtle* in its changes, but very noticeable overall when you hear “Brutal Death Metal” bands of today. Bleeding was CC best structured. Vile (and Created) had hints of the transformation at work that would appear in later work. Gallery, Bloodthirst, and Gore Obsessed were “signature sound” perfected. Afterward, you had to pay close attention to the content, because those changes were sharpened over the years. Rutan is now with the band (proper), and their sound has that hint of Morbid Angel/Hate Eternal that he is known in. It’s amazing to see this after 30+ years as a band.
Hardest working death metal band in the world! 30 years later and they STILL GOT IT! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

@@marco_m_ Consistent. Cannibal already made their mark on the metal scene. They're 16 albums deep in an over 30 year career. They already established their sound and their legacy. They don't have to prove anything anymore. I don't consider their new stuff too groundbreaking or genre defying, but it doesn't need to be. It's just damn good, the way I like it and imo the way it should be. Cannibal is a legacy band that's been around for 3 decades and have been consistently great since their first album, even with lineup changes they always got the best players to fill in the holes and play the roles. Everyone knows their sound and what they expect from them. They never sold out and never tried to be something they weren't. Always kept their shit professional and always delivered solid performances in studio and on stage - and they never insulted their fans (our current entertainment climate has made a bad habit out of this). That's all you can really ask from them at this point. And honestly, when the day comes where they call it quits and retire, it will feel well deserved and not just like they were washed up has-beens past their expiration date trying to bank on the glory days. The fact that Cannibal Corpse remained relevant after 30+ years and to this day hasn't shown any signs that their music is suffering and lost its touch is truly a testament to how dedicated and authentic they are - and THAT is something worthy of mad respect. You can't say that about every legacy band. Which is why Cannibal Corpse is one of the GOATs of not only death metal, but metal in general.

@@Fausto_4841 Sad but true. I'm also a drummer, and I'm not trying to disrespect the guy, but there does come a point where it's obvious that physically he just can't play the way he does well enough for an extreme death metal band. His technique has always been pretty rough, and I think that's what really has damaged him physically and is holding him back. I wish him no ill will and wish he could remain in the band somehow, but he just doesn't have the speed or intensity required for a band like CC, especially live. Sadly this is physical music, and drums are the most physically demanding element of it, and there comes a time where you just can't physically play what the music asks of you.

Love seeing eric incorporate melodic elements while keeping the heavy chugging brutality the band is known for. Brutal death with melodic solos is amazing

Even their worst is like a 6 or 7. They average around an 8. They're like the AC/DC of death metal. Straightforward, meat and potatoes. Every album, ypu know what ypu're getting. But they're so consistent with it they they couldn't fuck it up even if they tried. They don't have to make a stellar album or die trying. They just keep being Cannibal Corpse, and that's enough.

@@Mr_Nephilim I listen to a fair amount of death metal. What's wrong with appreciating a band that knows their sound and is just fine being consistent? Not every album needs to push the limits, or be go big or go bust. Sometimes it's okay to just put out a solid, reliable album every two years. We have a whole wave of very good tecxh death bands doing the boundary pushing right now. Let bands like Archspire and Psycroptic worry about doing that shit. They're good at it. Let Cannibal Corpse worry about just putting out solid, groovy, riffy OSDM with gory, narrative driven lyrics about zombies, serial killers, blood rituals, and necrophilia
Rutan is just a mass of hair, biceps, and sick riffs. SO happy he's in CC. This is sick.
When I first played this through my speaker, my speaker broke. I’ll happily buy a new one.
I can't believe after almost 40 years ever since 1988 these guys still have it. These dudes have always been Death Metal and never strayed from their vision. They have always been in their prime too no matter what era you look at. And that is why, Cannibal Corpse have, is, and will always be my favorite Death Metal band EVER!🤘🤘🤘
Oh! OH!!! Erik Rutan this is so GOOD! Thank you, Cannibal Corpse, Thank you Corpsegrinder. Thank you Paul Mazurkiewicz for these Amazing lyrics. They are very fitting for this time. Alex Webster thank for keeping Cannibal Corpse alive.

Cannibal Corpse just can't not make superb death metal. There isn't a single weak album. This is just more great death metal right here. It never ends. Let this be a lesson to everyone: plain, old-fashioned death metal is a genre rich enough that a band can pursue it for sixteen albums and not ever lose momentum or cease refining and tweaking their death metal sound into new and interesting ideas. Not every band has done this - but here's one that's proven the indefinite potential that exists in death metal. Extreme music with extreme potential at the limits of speed and/or dissonance.
This music is actually scary

How does a band who have been around for over 30yrs making utterly devastating music manage to still chuck out absolute carnage like this. That intro is one of the heaviest things i've heard in years.
Rutan's guitar sound is so good. I love how he and Rob mesh.

George is a fuckin absolute unit saw them live last weekend was the best show ive ever been too im only 20 but i know these guys been rockin longer than i been alive but these guys r the kings of death metal absolutely amazing performance energy was insane
I don't even know what to say, except I'm mindblowned by this band. Even after more than 30 years of tours and albums, they keep becoming huge and writing mindblowing songs.... I must be honest, I still miss Pat, but Rutan has brought something bigger and stronger to their riff it gives' em another level of death metal domination. They're not just a great band, they're heavyweight champions of death metal.
It's funny to me how new death metal bands don't even come close to how heavy Cannibal Corpse are.
This is coming out of nowhere and I love it! That slamming intro/outro is so brutal! Long live CC! \m/\m/
