Cane self defense and a few things they don't talk about.

Спорт

It's important to learn how to defend yourself in any situation, and one tool that can be particularly useful is a walking cane. Not only can it provide support and stability while walking, but it can also be a formidable weapon if needed. Learning how to use a cane for self-defense can give you an added sense of confidence and security, and can help you feel more prepared to handle any potential dangers that may come your way. Plus, it's empowering to know that you have the ability to protect yourself and those around you if necessary. So don't underestimate the power of a walking cane - it's more than just a simple accessory, it's a valuable tool for self-defense.

Good starting vid. Training is key for self defense with a cane. Saw a vid on NYC subway, 90 year old woman tried to defend against man attacking her, hit at him with the hook end of her cane, he grabbed it, yanked it away from her and proceeded to beat her with her own cane for the next 2 minutes of the vid. Naturally, in NYC NOBODY came to her aid.

Thanks for sharing. I just realized my new cane is actually an extension of my baton. Thanks for reopening that part of my thinking.

Guys, Very informative. I totally agree that blocks are extremely important. Not getting hit or grabbed is more important than the counter attack.

Thanks for doing these! I'm a veteran of the Canadian Army Reserves .... a dinky musician! ... but since the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa in 2022, I became member of Veterans for Freedom and have taken much more interest in veterans things. QUESTION: I recently hurt my back and found that using a junior hockey stick was really useful for getting around and getting up and down with my tiny puppies. But it's taller than a cane: the pallet is under my armpit rather than belt level. Could you do a comparison video on how that would affect self-defense use?

Write to me the characteristics of a cane for self-defense: thickness (diameter of the cane shaft), bending radius of the cane hook, its length and what to make such a cane from.

I’m a 65 yr old petite woman with bad knees. I don’t see this working for me, in fact I don’t see any self defense tactic working. Whatever tool I might have, I think the attacker would probably get it away from me. I don’t think I could hit anyone hard enough to even hurt them. Any suggestions?

Hi, training is just good for you anyway. Also, it affects you in such a way that it can influence a potential attacker's "victim selection". Above all, self protection goes beyond one's ability to fight, and if you find yourself fighting, you have probably made some mistakes before then. And again, training is fun and multi beneficial.

I`ve got 60 yrs. Exp. With real fighting w/ a cane sticks etc. I no longer teach. You need to put in the work to find them! You will be glad you did.
