Great video! I just removed around 60% of Xenia because it has completely taken over my tank, and am looking to sort of rebuild my aquarium with slower growing and more "advanced" coral types. Thinking I'll probably do Candy cane, zoanthids, and another Montipora. The Mushrooms I have are also growing over the rock but not as quickly so I'm not worried about them yet.

Yah mushrooms are easier to manage than xenia, that xenia ruined my biocube once and I had to rebuild it. I would never buy that stuff, not a fan.

@@EagleAquatics I can see why now. At first I was just excited it was growing so rapidly, now it really seems like a weed. Overran my toadstool and Montipora. I'm in the process of rebuilding now.

good morning, I have had a brown candy cane for around 3 weeks. this coral will not open. I have moved this coral all over my tank. what do you suggest do at this point?

They key to these corals is very low light, In my new 125 I have them partly under a rock shaded and they do phenominal!! Low flow also.

What’s that above the candy cane

Can you split the candy cane coral to start it in another part of the tank? What was the feathery coral by the green coral? Really enjoy your videos. Such knowledgable information. Thanks for sharing. 😀👍

I could split off part of my candy cane coral to start another colony but i want to grow them bigger before i do that. The coral next to the green cane is called a galaxia coral, also a very awesome coral. Thanks for commenting!!

Hey i also got a green candy coral. I placed it 3 days ago and it is still closed. How long does it take for it to open and show pollyps? Its also not as bright and looks kinda dark.. Can u see my last video there is a look on how it looks

I would move it to medium light in the middle of the rock structure and low flow. They dont like a lot of flow or super strong lighting.

I just bought a candy cane coral that’s dark in the outside and bright green in the middle with three heads for 5 dollars

My favorite method is using coral glue. My personal favorite is BSI Ice gel, its like $6 in amazon. Best stuff and dries super fast.

My first too! Just got today for 10 bucks! Can I feed reef roids. is that okay for all corals? the guy at the lfs said no doding but someone else did. he said no softies need dosing. If I started with reef salt dosnt that have all the nutrients

Those are great cheap and easy coral! Medium light and lower flow and you are set. Yes you can feed them reef roids, they will go crazy for them. You do not need to dose a tank with soft corals as they dont have a skeleton, you don't even really need to dose with these candy cane corals either. It never hurts though, just test the levels and see where you are. Reef salts do carry all of the nutrients, keep up with water changes and you are good.

Drop some frozen mysis shrimp on them and they will eat it up.

I would say in the right conditions, very fast, the key is to dose and keep water nutrients (nitrates and phosphates) low.

Very fast is relative , a car goes very fast but does it go as fast as a jet airplane
