I just never got into the whole lake thing, your up against all the other anglers and the fish don’t act natural because they know they are being fished for everywhere they turn, plus it’s expensive, I much prefer trying my luck on canals and seeing what’s about, just my opinion anyway. We’re all different

@@Broomesworld I think we met a month or so ago at the toilets at Penkridge emptieing my shit box. We were talking about that fuckin Friday monkey on our backs, Tina and ballers, remember? Lol. The monkey got me a few times since😭. I'm moored at Acton Trussell, liberty bell.

I’ve fished the Kennet it’s a good canal mate, cairn locks it was, full of carp, I just love the canal’s because it’s an unknown stock and anything could pop up, go give it a go

@@Broomesworld yeah I know there used To be a good head of carp in there a few yrs back. Not sure what’s in there Now though. Heard stuff about otters and polish over the last couple of years. I might head up soon and have a go. Only one way to find out I guess.

He had long gone mate, i was on that stretch for four days in total and he was only there for the first two then went home, just have to cram the footage into a 20 min video and try tell a story with what I got on the go pro, it’s all learning but an enjoyable process mate

Ha ha he only stayed the night it took me four days to catch that carp, was the Tuesday morning when it happened we got there on the Friday, had to cram four days into one 20 min video for KZread, and try tell a story with the footage. Enjoying the process though it’s fishing and being creative at the same time.

What a fishing boat!!what rig, bait, colour would you say has given you the most success on the canal for carp?

Hi mate I use a few different rigs depending on the bottom your fishing over, I had that on a chod rig with Manila pop up on, I use Manila a lot to be honest it’s my favourite boilies but I have caught on most boilies and baits over the years so don’t think they’re fussy, it’s about being close to the fish on the canal I rekon, as you see in this video I spent three days in the wrong spot. Then move and in 20 mins im in!!! In the winter they won’t be as active and moving up and down so gotta be on them I think, but if it’s clean ground I like to use a kd rig nice n simple with a Manila wafter, or a bottom bait rig with a boilie matching what I’ve baited with, I think maybe colour on the canal white is gonna be good but I’ve caught on pink, yellow brown 🤣 I don’t think it matters, but be on them and have sharp hooks is my best advice, it’s all learning and I never stop learning myself, I just love it though mate

@LeeHadley I use the light brownish type ones but I’ve used white before and they worked fine, I’d concentrate more on working out if there is actually carp in your canal, and if so where they are at a certain time of year, winter they’re gonna be where the water is warmer and we’re they feel safe, spring they will be waking up and summer heading to spawn where ever that is, autumn they are on the munch ready for winter again, if your near a marina try there and start a little bit of bait going in maybe, and fish when you can, but night times are the best normally too, so if you don’t mind bivying up on a canal then have a go, it ain’t for everyone mind 🤣🤣

I have access to a private mooring so have been doing the occasional night, had a few bream but no carp yet. Have been putting in a few kilo of hamp,maize chopped boiles and seed mix I buy from a bait maker and baiting up spots. I’ve been using PVA rigs with a wafter topped with fake corn filled with micro pellets. Hopefully it’s a waiting game now.

@LeeHadley that sounds a perfect situation to me mate, they gotta get on that if there is carp there, surely mate, hope you get one. It’s more rewarding than lake fishing in my opinion anyway, canal carp are special
