First time at Sweden's Midsummer festival: Is this the right place?

Midsummer is how Sweden celebrates the longest day of the year and summer solstice! It's a festival all about community, love, and fertility!
We try out Stockholm's festival and go to Gamla Stan and Skansen. Naturally, not everything goes to plan and I share my take on it all - Sweden and life in an unusual epilogue.

Nooo midsummer is not ruind because of rain. Rain is a part of midsummer party :D FOR REAL! It is a common joke that there is always rain on midsummer's day. One year it was even colder on midsummers day than on christmas day :D

Midsommar and rain is a tradition, people look for the weather info and hope for a good midsommar weather! Rhubarb beer is a interesting choice, I tried a grapefruit beer that started out nice but got a little too much towards the end of the can!

Yep! Not going according to plan is just part of the festivities. It should be sunny outside during the morning so you plan to be outside for the day, and then it should rain so you have to rush everything inside

this video randomly appeared in my watch page and honestly, how do you not have more subscribers? I loved your storytelling and your editing style - I've tried to make my videos more like this but it never quite comes out right! New subscriber here :) I spent three weeks travelling around Scandinavia this year, and did the same last year, and I'm completely obsessed with it. I absolutely agree with the feeling of being at home and being yourself in Sweden, because that's exactly how I felt. Its such an amazing country

Anyhow we sincerely apologize for the gruesome rain ... 😖 And the missing out on the awesome/fun dancing around the midsommarstång 🌱🕺 You looked great in your Midsommarkrans nevertheless 😇🍀🌼🪻🌺 - I think the rain was a sign for you coming back and get the full experience someday! 🙌 (Midsommar in Leksand) 🫶

As a "dalmas" on my father's side, born in Göteborg, and raised in Stockholm, (good mix?) I second the claim that Leksand is a good place to experience a swedish midsummer. The spectacle of erecting the large maypole in "The Pit", a naturally caused depression, is a "tourist-must-see", if in the area one that day. If it is a sunny day, dancing around the maypole with thousands of other people... a fun experience to do at least once in a lifetime. However, if you illicit the help of locals to ferret out dates, you can see maypoles raised several times. This as the different small villages in the Lake Siljan area, usually raise theirs on different days, eventhough some villages are less than a 10 minute drive apart. So one day you can see a maypole being erected in one small village, and then the next day see another erected in a neighboring village. There are a hundred villages to visit. Just saying. The experience of driving, carefully, through all these small villages on a sunny sommers day, is also something in itself. Soo many beautiful places to see around the Lake Siljan. But let's not speak too loudly about it. 🙂

Too bad with the rain Natasha! Was great in Hjo where I was. I really understand Sthlm was empty, all who can escape the cities. Dalarna has indeed the most spectacular celebration. About Finland, I guess sauna is the most important at all holidays😅

I am a bit chocked that they cancelled the dance because they had rained, I mean it almost always rain during part of the midsummer celebration. Cancelling for anything than a hard an ongoing rain is a complete failure by the organising team and they should be replaced. If you want to see real midsummer celebration go for Dalarna (prefarably somwhere around Lake Siljan, the heartland of the celebration) we have one in every village. Maybe avoid the main one in Leksand that is a bit touristy.
