I am a banker in one of the biggest bank in the world. He is spot on.

The Gold Standard for printing currency that you spoke about was a valid concept until the 1970s, when it was replaced by more liberal approach. Also, Credit Suisse didn’t fail due to the same reasons as Silicon Valley. Credit suisse had been in trouble for almost a decade before it keeled over. Silicon Valley failed due to a bank run on its deposits which in turn was caused due to its overexposure to long term debt which collapsed in value overnight due to interest rate hikes. Request to please avoid oversimplification.

Having emergency cash is fine. But beyond emergency amount, cash in the bank does nothing. It doesn’t earn enough interest to cover the cost of inflation. Find investments based on your risk level. Diversify your investments, including ~10% in precious metals.

I agree on most of the things you guys said, especially on the red tape for getting building permits. However, I disagree on using green belt for building more housing. The main issue is urban sprawl and mindsets of people. There is no middle housing. Also, old people are fighting pitchfork battles in their city town halls for any rezoning. A woman applied for increasing the capacity of her daycare in her house and was doing everything according to code… the amount of criticism and vitriol she faced at the city hall from her neighbors was awful. Even the city councillors said they were surprised by the passion with which her neighbors fought against rezoning her house ( the city was in favour of passing her application though but had to give in the face of so much opposition). Unless the old folks in Canada change their mindsets no amount of construction can resolve the housing crisis. I would suggest anybody interested in Canada’s housing crisis should watch a series called “the missing middle” by a KZreadr named UTayee.

These are all very good points and I have watched that report on CBC. I honestly wish we had more middle housing, walkable and transit friendly cities. The amount people spend commuting out of the "backrooms" subrubs is ridiculous.

I believe, now Canada immigration and study visa is a need not only to increase population but to suck dollars from other countries. The reason enough jobs are not there is due to lack of innovation and startups. Free medical and free education is a gimmick used by the immigration consultants to sell dreams and earn profits. I applied for PR, but after looking at your videos i have no interest to go to Canada now. In india i make 4 lac Rs monthly but wanted to move to canada just for better quality of life, free medical, free education, butcame to know about the horrific medical facilities from your podcast and thats the whole reason i have lost interest.

Why didn't he take Landlord Insurance for his Investment Property? Simple logic to prevent your exposure due to these issues. Not sure he is saying 100% truth

1)Canada needs to stop immigration for at least 2 yrs or limit it to just 100k -150k people... Which can be done only by a strong conservative leader ....if immigration doesn't stop and people already present in the country didn't get settled with homes and constant earnings....... this country will tank like anything with crime blowing through the roof.... 2)Also Canada needs to exploit its natural resources to max potential now.... They have to reduce their dependence on the USA... A 2 month economic winter in the USA can send shivers to the core of Canadian economy and it won't recover from it for years... 3) In the next 5 yrs the USA is gonna make it harder and harder for Canadian folks to enter the USA because of such insane immigration numbers.... The treaty will be heavily modified by USA republican leaders.... So Canada Govt. should negotiate the future prospects well in advance and stand up to big brother ..... Before its too late. 4) Canada govt. Need to let go its healthcare monopoly..... Private healthcare should be allowed to compete.... Because no good doctor would want to come to canada , if he can mint 10 x more in the USA ....

Limiting immigration? It will tank the country faster than you can think of healthcare even. The older population depending on expenditure of tax and the low birthrates has a huge impact on the economy. Even Japan being so conservative, is now realising that immigration is the way forward with so many of the workforce becoming old and low birthrates.

private sector will squeeze every penny out of you. You are saying this because you might not have gone through any medical surgery. If you are rich, yes you can afford it. but if you middle class like me, then i do not think we can afford. My wife is American citizen and she used to pay 200 USD as a medical insurance premium. But even after that hospital will send you a bill. If you cant they will set up installment payment. If such kind of things come to Canada, it will be nigthmare for many canadians. Therefore, meanwhile when I got a job while studying in Canada saved some money and started trading. My question is that if you are a landlord in Canada, you are supposed to follow the rules of law ? Why are you giving advice to other people that they should rent home to new immigrants because they have not enough knowledge about tenant rights.

Also, when SVB failed in the US, the government jumped in almost immediately to prevent contagion spread and assured the public their deposits were safe. In Canada, the big banks are all GSIB (Global systemically important banks) and the government will not allow them to fail. This kind of uninformed comment can quickly snowball into mass hysteria. Again, avoid oversimplification please!

Meaning less, Spending India money in Canada. Getting money from India, Spending in Canada, Meaningless. Present Canada Income =Expenditure Savings = nil
