Canada Road Trip: The Best Things To Do In Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia tourism is hard to beat. From all the things to do in Halifax to incredible Canada road trips in Cape Breton, There are so many things to do in Nova Scotia.
Welcome to Nova Scotia!
From May 27th to June 6th, 2017, we toured Nova Scotia as part of the Road to 150 campaign. It was our second province during our 150-day road trip and what an incredible time we had. From the absolute natural beauty of Cape Breton Highlands National Park to the historic beauty of Halifax, the small-town charm of Lunenburg, and the excitement of tidal bore rafting, Nova Scotia is an incredible province to explore. Although we accomplished a lot in ten days, we really only scratched the surface of this incredible east coast province. Whether you're looking for that laid back East Coast charm, maritime history, or incredible natural wonders, Nova Scotia is the place to visit!

**
Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multimedia road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim was to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

There are lots of rocks and boats in Nova Scotia so maybe you would find one that rocks you. :-) Canada is a great country - lots to do, see, open space, great people. Hi@@christiangrendel9893 - I have been to many parts of Canada. All really great. For such a small Province, Nova Scotia is very diverse in its landscape. Beautiful coastlines from dramatic rocky bluffs to white sand beaches that stretch on for miles, lush green farmlands producing lots of table crops, orchards, and also grapes and hops which produces good wines and great beers. Further east are the highlands which look a lot like Scotland and guess who settled there - the Scots. They even distill whiskey there. Lots of other craft distilleries scattered throughout the Province. Great places to hike, canoe/kayak, sail, etc. If you make it there you will have to try out rafting on the tidal bore. Halifax, the capital city, is very ethnically diverse, has a great food & music scene and has a perpetually young vibe due to all the university students attracted to the many universities that call Halifax home.

    Nonsense! She was probably kissed on its rear side. That is more realistic! If you sit on its side all life then all you see is the dull landscape from your window. Then of course you don't wanna think that you live in the boonies, rather in the tropical paradise.

People here may have a strong accent but they are some of the most nicest people you will ever meet. Now I currently live in Cape breton island. It's really beautiful and stuff. Really good place to visit during any season Summer is super warm from the huminity and the best beaches to cool off. Fall has some of the greatest most interesting scenery. Winter it gets alot of snow and you can go sledding down some mountains and have a good time Spring is not too cold or hot a great time to go for a picnic or go to a park or somn. In the video at 5:08 that rock formation over the lady's shoulder is called Anthony's Nose. I grew up on a farm on the other side of the river from that formation and I watched those boats going up the river back in the 90's. I thought they were crazy but now that i'm moving back to Nova Scotia in 2 weeks can't wait to try it out.

    My husband just got back from a short visit to see the town where the "Jesse Stone" movies were made, mainly Lunenberg. He really enjoyed himself and found the people quite warm, the seafood quite amazing, and the area quite beautiful. Finances permitting, it looks like our whole family would love to go there. They should definitely fix the "Cat" though. He said the worst part of the trip was the boat ride as one engine is down and the trip took 7 hours, as opposed to the 5.5 it should take. At any rate, it appears there is plenty to do and see, and I agree that this video makes a convincing argument to go there. My first stop would be the Raft ride, WOW, how cool is that?

  • @MustDoCanada

    @MustDoCanada

    haha yes, the rafting is fun and I'd love to go back in August when the water is warming the rapids more intense. Was he visiting from NFLD? Is that the boat ride you're talking about?

Haha Now I'm gonna watch your other videos o/

    haha Yeah, I've read a few stories of people from Brazil in Halifax or nearby New Brunswick. Was wondering as I live in the West (Alberta), which is normally known for immigration due to the oil jobs. Wondering what the jobs are like in Halifax... But yes, Toronto and Ontario is the massive area so Halifax would have more of a small-town charm. Newfoundland is also incredibly friendly. We love Halifax though and have definately considered moving there....

    @@MustDoCanada Ye, I totally understand the big change you mentioned above. For me, living in a big city long time is like staying in prison, although I know most of the people prefer big cities. I looking forward to an ideal place so many years, which has some universities because it will cause a good environment. Moreover, the city mush has the history. Halifax meets all the requirement. On the other side, Halifax is a small city, It again has some disadvantages, but in a whole year, we can go back to Beijing for 2-3 months to balance that. People living in Halifax is friendly and as I can see they have more polite than inland. Britain culture!!!

    I am from Nova Scotia, and would want to live no where else. My wife and I did a brief tour Scotland, where my ancestors are from, in the early 1980's. We took the train from London, stayed in Edinburgh and saw the Tattoo, rented a car and took the ferries from Ulapool to Skye, Harris and lewis, and south Uist. It was August and lovely.
