F2P players have to grind hard to unlock their first tier 8 premium from the bond store and then grind hard with that free premium. Some of those free premiums are decent, but they're still punching bags for paying players in their Borats and BZ-176s. It's much easier to just open your wallet when the Borat goes on sale and at least you're on a level playing field. The game is not F2P friendly unless you're happy at tier 6.

I did a new damage record in a Grille 15, 6025 damage or something like that. No kills, no premium account, no credit boosters, I fired 8 AP shells and penned all 8. I made something like 6076 credits, barely more credits than the damage I did. In a usual game I lose credits... It's tier 10 economy. WG wants you to play tier 10 but to pay for boosters and premium time and premium tanks to make credits so you can play your tier 10s and spam gold. It's Business.

i would not say tier 10 is in a good spot it's far too expensive for people to play it on a constant base, 14k credits for baseicly a insane game no for any normal game for the base line tanker they would lose a fair bit of credits and if you are unlucky even more. i know this is a hot topic but tier 10 needs to be looked at

This is one of the largest drawbacks of this game for me. The sense of losing... Even when you win. At tier 10, there is no gameplay. You are not playing towards anything.

It would be way more fun and useful if losing credits at Tier 10 was almost impossible. For example: At Tier 10, multiply credit punishments by 0.2 and multiply credit gains by 0.6 Normal calculations: 100.000 credits gained from damage dealt etc, 100.000 credits lost due to repairs etc -> 0 credits gained New calculations: 60.000 credits gained from damage dealt etc, 20.000 credits lost due to repairs etc -> 40.000 credits gained You make way less credits, but you also get punished way less for taking damage etc. This way the premium tanks can stay how they are and make you tons of profit at Tier 10. Now the players are happy because they make more profit and Wargaming is happy because they can sell many Tier 10 premium tanks to people who want to make big profits.

I realised this years ago. That's why I didn't go above tier 8. Anything up to tier 6 is fine, but that's were its crests. After that you will start to lose credits.

It's how war gaming designed the game. Tier 10 is supposed to be the end game where you pay. That's why I don't play above tier 8.

Game was designed to progress to get a better upgraded tank. As you continue down a tech tree everything will increase as well as higher tier players will be better and offer more of a challenge. You don’t NEED to pay to win. Memorize the game, take the time to learn what to do and not to do.

Since i play F2P and very casually, i agree with you QB, it is a „skill issue“ in some way, if you are good, aim good and hit most of your shots, its fairly easy to at least get the credits back you used for your shells etc, since im favourably using the 60TP, i do have some premium shells, (20 standard, 5 premium, and 5 High Explosive shells.) I can sometimes feel myself struggling when i come up against the reward tanks, BUT it all takes for me to be fairly successful against them by pressing the 2 key, hitting one or 2 shots and then switching back to AP. Conclusion: F2P in WoT requires a fair amount of skill, alongside a fair amount of credits. Whoever read this, i wish you all a great day!

F2P but I use 50/50 regular and gold, large repairs and large medkit on most high tier tanks. Had enough resouces to buy 268v5 and Lion. Still have 20mln and a lot of other resources. I am average and casual player.

Blitz has way better economy, for sure. Repairs are free, non-premium ammo is free, since recently basic consumables are also free, and you get credit boosters left and right. Definitely a more player friendly game

So apart from purchasing vehicles, for what else would you need credits then? Because like if you have reached the endgame, what stops a player loading full gold in every battle, because the credits are now useless otherwise?

@@robinkhn2547 The fact that blitz is a more well balanced game overall, and gold shells aren't even necessary a lot of the time. And they deal less damage than regular shells, so you're discouraged from using them as a replacement for regular ammo

Thank you QB for this accurate description of WOT. TIER 8 - 9 - 10 is more or less break even on the 8 and quicly drops down to a loss when you go towards the tier 9 & 10 vehicles. You can compensate playing tier 10 by playing a lot of tier 6 & 7 though, run credit boosters, participate in events etc.

I think another thing worth noting is how massive a boost to credit making is a premium account is. Cause on paper its +50% credits, which is a lot at baseline. But in reality it's multiple hundred % gain in credits per battle (or infinite % if you go from 0 credits or loss xD). The reason is that, its 50% on the baselines credits, not accounting for costs. So because your costs are same and dont increase by 50%, the proportion of credits that are profit massively increases. Like say standard account, i make 20k credits, spend 10k, I have made 10k credits. Now with premium account, I make 30k credits, spend 10k, I have made 20k credits. So i got +100% profit, not +50%. And as said before a lot of time its even bigger than that, because you go from -1000 profit to +thousands, so you make ridiculously more credits per battle with a prem account.

Afaik tier 10 has always been designed to be unaffordable, to acx T8 premium sales, I remember books from 2014 talking about it

The thing is you spend a lot of your time playing wot, so even if you don't spend like on your play for free account, you still have bond equipment and premium tanks from marathons. Most casual players will never win a tank from marathon. I am talking about players who play one or twice a week. Maybe 10 games a week or something 😅 . In reality your playsforfree acc isn't actually free anymore

It is still free, but just not representative of a casual players account. And even for casual players its still possible to obtain free premium tanks, namely from the bond store. Sure, it will take a while to get the amount of bonds together needed, but still very possible.

I play like 2 or 3 hours grinding with my Cromwell to pay 1 hour of my tier X... Sometimes it goes well and I get a good profit even with tier X ^^

I believe that the best tiers to play and keep a good income are tiers 6 and 7, if you dont play premium tanks and without a premium account. If we play premium tier 8 tanks even without premium account it will be possible to keep the income balance in the "green". I like to play tier 9 but you allready start losing some income, so need to be playing some lower tiers or premium tanks to get some income to pay the "fun tax"

You mentioned Luke and the force. His name Lucky Luke is a cartoon character. He is a cowboy who shoots faster than his shadow. it's a belgian cartoon. and a lot of fun.

Most of my battles, i played tier 4 -6. My favorite tank is the M8A1 with about 2000 battles. Most of my games with this TD are against tier 5 and 6 . If you want to penetrate a KV-1 an O-I or other heavies like the Churchills, KV-85 you must load gold-ammo. Some games ended with an empty ammo store and more than 50000-70000 credits minus.... Playing tier 8, 9, 10 will ruin your credits so massive , that i often played only with credit boosters for minimize the lost.

I started WoT in early 2011 and it's ALWAYS been known to me that you play the lower tiers to fund and play the high tiers. 💯 That was driven home that summer and it's always how I've operated. Mind you the earning potential for tiers 9 and 10 have vastly improved.

I'm just average at tier 6/7, so I only go up to tier 10 to challenge myself and while I'm losing credits when I do, it's less than 5% of the games I play.

When your team wipes in the first 3 mins game after game & you realise it’s random whether you get a team or a bunch of players frustration starts to bubble .

Just today i talked about this with my friend. We were playing tier 10, had fun, i played tanks like IS4, IS7, OBJ.705A, S.CONQ, KRANVAGN, E4 and managed to get a 3.8k avg dmg in like 15 games. Not crazy but decent imo. I fire gold only at heavy vehicles, like E100, Mouse, Vk, type 5 Heavy, where normal shells would be useless. I use only small kits, and no prem food. I have no premium and didnt run any booster. So after the session i checked and had 350k minus on my account :)

When I play tier 10 i tend to no shoot gold at all or very little when i do. Tests my knowledge of the game and helps me learn, so when i push for those marks, feels like easy mode spamming gold.

One slight difference QB has when starting a new ftp account is: he plays a lot more than the casual player. Non the less, that's a cool thing for a creator to do! So hard to casual ftp this game 😢

It would be nice if they implemented the blitz economy so for every medal u get a different amount of credits (3rd class 30k 2nd class 50k) etc as well with the high caliber and all of those then it would be possible

Hi Quicky, been F2P since the start of my account. Not a single euro spend, but managed to scrap together some premiums from the bondstore/ trade ins with gold from the free christmas chest. I think you can do T10 F2P, but you'll need to pick your tanks big time. Full gold tanks are a no go and prem consumables won't do either. Mostly need to run 2-3 T8 battles for each 0-15 steamroll at t10 in which you lose a lot.

Thanks QB for kicking my butt and killing me in this frustrating game where my team didn't wanted to win a side :p I'm F2P player since the beginning (more than 10 years) and I've no problem playing tier 10. I don't use premium consummables apart the automatic fire extinguisher at tier 10 but I've a big reserve of them by missions. I shot gold only when it's needed. I've some premium tanks, some bought long time ago (Super Pershing, Mutz, Centurion 5/1 and Fury) others I had for free (ShPtk, Obsidian, IS-2S, Panther M10 via CW, lots of tier 6 by drops). My favorite tier is 9 but I play tier 6 to 10. Results : I'm pretty close to have unlocked every tech tree tanks and 80M credits in reserve so I'm able to play everything I want when I want. I'm also helped by being in a clan who runs lots of boosters. Anyway, I think I loose credits one game every 5 at tier 9, 2 on 5 at tier 10. Playing tier 10 F2P is possible but it requires to have a decent level to get good games and not playing tier 10 only. If you have one or two premiums you really like is perfect to help you doing credits if you really need. It's possible but you need to know you will not be the best in tanks stats so you have to compensate by being accurate, knowing weakspots, able to anticipate situations or by your minimap reading. It's sometimes hard but so satisfaying when you are able to have great games.

T-62A and IS-4 do well when boosted credits, experience and free experience are running.

T9 is definitly possible to play without a credit loss, but not for the average f2p player. I do play T9 a lot, do not use any premium ammo at all, usually don't have premium account (unles you get a few days trough events or missions) and use crew food, yet i break even. I do however admit that with ~61.5% win rate i don't qualify as an average player anymore, so projecting my credit income onto others won't work there...

On the mobile version, World of Tanks Blitz. The standard shells are free. This was not always in the game however. I think it was only a year or so ago when they made this change.

According to me jg pz e100 and t110e3 is the most cheapest tier 10 tanks to play for free2play players like me... Both of them has very good penetrations on standard ammo, therefore no need to use premium ammo and secondly the armour in these tanks can forgive your mistakes... Just use the best bond or bounty equipment on your tank. That way you would never have to use food. And you will have very good game... I did my height damage of 8k with jg pz e100.

Nah, I would say the cheapest tier X tanks to play are mediums with high standard pen like the Leo, or medium tanks in general actually, because with the playstyle of most mediums you don't really face heavy tanks from the front, and that's where you need the gold. And JgPz E100 and T110E3 are tanks which do go to the heavy flank of the map, which means it is more likely for you to need to shoot gold. And playing JgPzE100 without gold is kinda wasted potential, because it has the highest gold pen in the game.

Used to play the Tablet version Blitz gave it up after it became clear you needed gold at the top levels, (back in the day when the only way to get gold was real money.) Now I just occasionally play mid level games on PC WoT

tier 9 is the maximum if you want to earn any money as a F2P

I have WG premium which covers all three games. I find that playing tier 9 and 10 requires about 2-3 tier 7-8 premium tank battles to pay for each tier 10 battle. I carry mostly standard ammunition with a maybe 5-7 gold rounds which I try to avoid using. Out 30,000+ battles i have played less than 200 Tier 10 battles. Unless you are spamming gold for the most part, it's is very hard to make a difference at tier 10.

I think that standard ammo should be free, you should not have to repair your tank unless you die, and small repair/med kit and fire extinguisher should be free. That would help the free to play people just enough. Wouldn't make a huge difference but it would be enough to NOT go negative every battle

For f2p, tier 6 is the sweet spot. Its a high level battle and you can still earn credits. Its balanced and enjoyable.

Tier 6, 7 and yes 8, even if its painful sometimes, is what I usually play. Tier 10s, really not for me.

T6 is where you can play just for fun and make money, above that and you have to play well (Plenty of Damage) to survive financially

This is why I’m winding down my account, selling my T10s and down until all I have left is a handful of fun tanks. After selling maybe 50 tanks, I’ve been able to load up on my T6 and T7 and get 2 MOE on most. Getting the 3rd MOE will be hard and require that I sell the remaining dozen T10s and probably as many T8s. Doesn’t matter. I’m actually feeling some relief playing how I want.

tier 6 and 7 is best for F2P

I'm 95% f2p, (I've bought a couple of tanks here and there over the years) and I've always thought of tier 10 as being the tier that you "get" to play as a reward for your grind. Like a vacation almost, you pay a ton of money but hopefully you have some fun. Then you go back to tier 8 and actually make some money to be able to afford to do it again

Definitely not with a heavy where everbody uses Premium Rounds but if i would try i would take the Grille as it has pretty bad premium ammo and uses regular amoo pretty often anway

I only load 5 shells in my T10 Chinese light tank because I will lose money otherwise. I had a great 7k spotting 3 kill game and still lost 2k coins

Given up playing more than tier 7, not being a very good player I have set a goal to get every tech tree tank up to level 7, did it on the Xbox in Europe now trying it on pc in Asia.

some of us (I hope there are other people) like to play low tier, but not only the easieness or the better credit income, but for the tanks too. The history of those tanks are so impactful in my case that I far rather play a Valentine or a StuG than these fictional t10 tank, yet having a blast while also getting battlepass points from T4.

I've played around 10 years for free and nowadays I play almost exclusively tier 10. The missions give me easily enough credits to play only tier 10.

I’m not good enough for tier 8, let alone tier 10 gameplay so I’ve never bothered getting a tier 10 even though I’ve been playing for almost 10 years now. Makes me wonder how the economy changes from that long ago compared to now

QB, you should do a video on what it would cost for a new player to rush through the tiers and to obtain the top tanks in the game. Are we talking a few hundred dollars or a few thousand? Lol

I have only one t10 and I play only few games per session with it as it’s too expensive. Even at T9 you lose credits in a not so good day. You win 3 games and lose 2 and at the end you end up with less credits. I don’t play often so I miss most of the events. I have 3 t10 that are researched but can’t afford to buy them. Similar situation with t9 and 8. I need to work in the game I am using to relax after the hard day of work…

Its hard to be a f2p before at 7.5 update with no premium accnt to grind credits, I used kv1 and pzIV to grind credits. but still I enjoy the game.

I play mostly tier 5, 6 and 7, even lower sometimes, 8+ is hopeless.

Thats why i bought the elc even 90. Very cheap to repair, easy to earn 50-60K and even when you lose you make money most of the time.

In my experience, unless you are a unicorn player that averages 5k combined EVERY game, use the small repair/med kit and no premium consumable and NEVER fire anything but standard ammo AND NEVER die you will barely make a profit. If you're a normal 50% player it's almost impossible.

I can confidently say that Tier 8 is the last tier where the average (around 50% winrate) free-to-play player will break even or profit when they win. If you had a good game and win, you will have a decent profit. If you had a good game and lose, you might break even, depending on how good of a game you had. At Tier 9 you have to start playing well every match to at least break even, but getting a profit at this tier is very hard for the average player.

​@@henkgeenreetaan1374 If you care about penning all of your gold shots and actually being impactful in a match, sure you will almost always profit a little at Tier 8. But remember that the average player does not care enough or does not have the game sense to know when and how to use gold. They might shoot it randomly when they feel like it's needed and miss/bounce half of their shots. That loses you a lot of credits, even when you win. I remember playing a Tier 8 game recently and doing like 3k damage. I also shot at least 10 gold rounds of which I probably missed about half. I lost like 50k credits even though we won the battle. With a premium account that probably would have been a profit of 50k, if not even more than that.

Consistently sustainable free to play tier vehicle, I like my 9's and my 7's which I will reasonably make credits in. (No boosters etc etc) - the reason for the 7's is that you can only up tier to 9's and a tier 8 (which you will often see) still has more than enough soft spots for you to pen and get good damage on, doing damage on upper tier vehicles grants you more exp and reward value. When I am playing in tier 9's or 10's more often than not I am forced to go into stupid sniper coward garbage stat padder style of play because the teams and players are now all tending to do that style, instead of using their armor, or their mobility or their view range (QB's video from a few days ago here commenting about the super sniper mediums that pretty well condemned his team to losing because of their cowardice and ineptitude)

I believe t 10 is in a good spot. You most certainly can play em. I even spam gold only from time to time (switch to 2 key for the entire game) as well as using food (for my Chadpanzer E 100, 82% moe rn, just aiming for 85% because marking is toxic for your mental health) The dynamic is kinda boring though as i'll have to farm up with my premium vehicles for an entire day once more. The simple key to a stable t10 gameplay is bond store. Get 1 prem tank, then get another. Make sure at least one has a reliable standard ammo (like my T 103, love it) because that means profit. Furthermore, i have stocked up on some credit boosters, 80, and use them whenever i get a free prem acc which is easy to get nowadays (missions for T55A for example, TD and SPG missions are the easiest thing ever). To get the most out of a prem acc, make sure you only get 1 day prem acc from missions (avoid the honors for missions) because if you stretch it, 4-6 hours before servers restart time is enough for 5 x3 boosts to be applied and then tomorrow you can apply them again, which means 1 day of prem is 10 x3 exp bonuses. My 2 bond tanks are T 103 and T-34-3, both tanks are goated and work very well for me at least. Also, both can overmatch very well and hit noticeably, meaning even gold ammo isnt so bad to use when in a pinch. I plan on getting a 3rd bond tank now, got 7k bonds already. Thinking between Patriot and 252 U because a heavy tank can afford to get more involved into action if you know what i mean. 252 U can go in while Patriot is just too comfy to play because of hulldown, gun depression, fast reload and dirt cheap standard ammo so i'll have to decide on that.

I used to be able to afford to play tier 10 without premium account but RNG forces you to use Gold rounds too often that if u don't want your wn8 wnr8 and KD to suffer you have to spam it.

The best thing about your plays4free account is it’s not all tier 10. Before you got that account it seemed like every video was tier 10 and I knew I wasn’t going to have a tier 10 for at least a few years.

I have to have, at minimum, 3 million credits saved up to even think about playing tier 10.

Let me say this. I'm a free 2 play player and I was an arty player. I recently sold most of my tier 9&10 arty because they aren't fun anymore. I spent the credits buying tanks on the lines I like, like the top American TD's and some of the Objects (am I the only person that spells it?). By the time a free to play player has the resources to grind a line to tier 10...it gets nerfed before it's obtained. Especially if you suck like me. So now I have one tier 10 arty, a T110E3, and an Obj. 430U. I also have about 50 empty garage slots.

Curious; how many tanks do you have in each of the two accounts? I know you have hundreds in the premium, but how does the play for free account compare, disregarding the premium head start of course.

As a FTP light tank player, Tier 6 using the free premium tanks. For Tier 8 bought premium tanks.

Yes if you can get a few free tier 8 premiums to fund the tier X games.

I think the credit calculations really need to start including consumables at full price. Wargaming has started starving people with consumable sales and you almost never make it to the next sale before running out. Especially if you're free to play because you don't have oodles of credits saved up to spend when the sale happens

I played in my account for free untill last christmas when I finally could pay a bit, bought me some lootboxes and had premium for the last 6 months, I grinded more tier 10s than I did since I was playing in 2015. finally understood that it's not a hard game, it's just easier when paying. now that I run out of premium, I have like 19 millions in the account, so I can play comfortably for the next year. Great game, fucked because the advantages when paying are too much.

you should never have to lose credits unless you fire gold or have to pay for consumables.

I started the game 2 weeks ago on french tech tree and managed to get all tier 6 tanks with all previous tanks with "elite" status. But I feel the game slows me down so much in my progression since tier 6...

If you are a new player, just stay at the mid-tiers. Not only is it better for credit income, but also for your sanity. Because tier X is usually a sh*tfest of full-gold ammo with the biggest whales. Not fun at all.

@@spikyzan Mid tier is where the real fun is. I stopped trying to go up the techtree seriously years ago, the game became so much more fun when I found fun tier 5-7 vehicles I liked to play. Highly recommended.

If you play T10 only - surely not possible to play F2P. So i play my premiums i got for free and for bonds etc. Also i play my other fun tech tree tanks, they are all cheaper and often pay well. And yes, i am far from a good player 🤣

You can play T10 for free, but you have to use standard ammo, and penetrate all of your shoots, besibe use reser e to get more credits.

I am free to play player, I think my most reliable earn coins tier is tier 7. Well, play as AT7. But my first tier 10 is American SPG

Up to tier 6 it's all fine, then around tier 7 issues with making money start and continue all the way to tier 9, however when I reach tier 10, I play it anyway for most of the time. Yes, earnings are meagre, but I play arties, thus it's mostly a complete loss of vehicle or survival without much repairs (usually, but I play risky, thus coming under fire isn't uncommon either), and it also impacts spending on rounds - gold isn't much needed on arties. The rest of the "trick" is helping your team to win as a support class. P.S. Besides, it's all about fun, and I REALLY hate game play on heavy tanks! I don't care, how "meta" they are currently, I don't like them, thus I seldom ever play them (unlike the very beginnings, when I started by going up to some German heavies). Mediums are jacks of all trades, they feel fine. TDs... they are specialised and don't really fit me most of the time. Light may feel nice, but I'm afraid to fail team by not being a good spotter. Heavies are just awful given their slow speed, besides it feels unfair being rewarded for stupidity of opponents - when they simply fail to penetrate you. And no, complaining about lack of speed while playing arties is not an oxymoron or an irony, I just pick fast ones with mobility high enough to quickly switch flanks or run around whole map. Noticeable exceptions are KV-2 and KV-5, while they are still heavies, they are meant for fun.

You can play tier 10 consistently if you play in a clan, don't forget this side of the game that brings a lot a resources to players even free to play

tier 10 clan boosters while playing advances net me 50k-80k a battle (and yes thats play tier 10s only) and on top of that my clan commander pays his callers (me 3k gold monthly) so every month with premium time + credit safe (750k x4) im probably making close to 7 million a month, if not close to 10 million adding the 3 days of tier 8 skirmishes throughout the week at 100k per game

I loved amx m4 54 but the 51 is still good tier for tier however pen is average

I thought this was about whether it is realistically possible to grind your way to Tier 10 at all, as a FTP player. Probably not. Just too many battles required.

I' m losing credits on almost every game at tier 10, with premium account, improved rations, and some gold rounds fired. At the end of the day, after 15-20 games, and with a 3k wn8 rating, I m losing around 300k credits.

I made the mistake of unlocking some tanks that are rather unforgiving to play and since I am really bad at the game, I gave up playing my T10's.

i rarely play tier 10, just a in game money sink. fav tier is 6

What do I need to adjust to show the equipment beside the consumables during the game?

I have played every second game Premium-tank and then "something else", usually Tier 10. Then I balance it quite fine WITH a premium account.... Withoug, I guess I would have to play 2xPremium Tank (which you have to purchase, usually) and then 1 game of "something else".

With premium account and specific tier IX tanks that do not need premium ammo or have free repair kits, I can manage to play those and not lose money most of the time. That even without getting all discounts for resuppling consumables and running food. This includes credits you get back. If I am not wrong, 2.5K damage and 1K assist is there about breaking even. I mean, your worst game shouldn't go under it. Then good games will give you some room. You definitely do not want 5 minute games where your team is over ruined and you have done under 2K damage because then you need lot of good games to compensate and with way games go nowadays that's not easy for someone who is not super unicum. On the other hand, tier IX tanks that have weak ammo just become total money sinks. Sane goes for the tank's that has unreliable guns. Big RNG variations just cost credits and are there to milk the money and regulate the economy in the game.

Add to the issue, the majority of us lack the level of skills as possessed by Sir QuackyBaby.

QB lacks skill 🤣his problem is that he is playing on EU the most brain rotted server, if he played on NA he would get yolo rushed 1 out of 4 games

That's how i did it for 10 years, playing 3 light batlles to break even for a T10 game the mission and 750 safe where not even included ,there where different, and as a hardcore lightplayer after 10k battles in lights only ,ow boy the un nerfed hellcat was a guarantee win sinds i would go after the dangerouse tanks first, good times , nowa days i only play charfuture and lion- you wait for the mistake and you burst them whit standards ,-my fav prem is 274A thats my heavy :)

If Wargaming reduced the cost for repairing the vehicle after the battle by 50%, the game would be way easier for free to play players.
