But what if we are supposed to "go out" believing in Jesus, the Messiah, not ourselves? Because we can't save ourselves. Life is very valuable. Sam is so right about 'trusting the process no matter what you do'. Like, think about it; in studying for an exam you gotta trust the teachers and your notes to resolve your doubts and get to the exam; for doing an audition for smt you gotta practice and practice and practice and trust the process for it to be good.
Sam out here teaching us art babies how to do art and giving us an encouraging life lesson at the same time! I can't :') He's so good to us!
"you not only gotta trust the process of your painting but also the entire process of your learning journey" - Sam 2021
This is how I was taught to approach oil painting. It helps when you only have an hour or so to finish a whole piece. We were taught to sketch over blocking later and only if needed. In general tho I sure do love to just block in like crazy and refine until we reach details. I like how much you explore!
I was having an art block and hadn't drawn in weeks... This helped me so much .. I will surely go back to drawing
to add onto the bit about how each painting gets you closer to what you want the piece to look like- one of my favorite quotes about this is from the drawfee redrawing old art video where karina is talking about how she loves redrawing her old art because every time she does that she can get a result closer to what she’d initially imagined the finished piece looking like
I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks now since it showed up in my queue and your art is full of life. There seems to be a lot of emotion in it with the way you play with light and color. I've never noticed it before in other art but yours in particular really plays a lot with what looks like pastel and high contrast colors which somehow manages to make it come alive from the environment that isn't there. Amazing. Not sure how close I've gotten to what you're doing but it's been enlightening. I haven't drawn anything in over a decade but your way of teaching and encouraging while showing how your process works has been making me want to pick up a pencil again. Thanks for being you!
No one: Absolutely nobody: Me aggressively boppin my head while watching that video. That music hits different 😄👌
Man, I got here in about... 3 days (?) and you're already one of my inspirations on ilustration. Your artwork is just amazing. Keep it going, nice work
I've been trying to get back to art for about a week now, after not being able to make anything for so many years. You are honestly such a lifesaver, and a lot of your content has helped me whenever I've found myself stuck and lost and confused. Thank you so much.
You're an amazing teacher. Thanks to you i came back to drawing without feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff that i need to learn. You inspire me to find joy and motivation in everyday drawing, in opposite to pressure and doubt that i used to feel
This make trust myself whenever i draw. Thank you so much Sam!! 💖
This is SO INSPIRING! I was struggling for days to get a proper rough sketch (fixing the composition) for the upcoming CNY artwork and I was rather devastated because I got really swamped for my full time job which makes me even more stressed out and getting more anxious of not being able to complete this! I couldn't sleep yesterday so I randomly did a rough sketch and I GOT THE COMPOSITION RIGHT. It's TRUE that you mentioned about letting go of your doubts and TRUST THE PROCESS. Really really really appreciate this video, it really made me feel less sucks about myself haha. I would always come back to this video to remind myself to trust the process and learn along the way regardless of the outcome! Thanks Sam!
your drawings are so beautiful and relaxing! :)
This is so inspiring! The point about finishing every drawing/painting you start no matter what really hit home! I have a lot of unfinished pieces, most times I get stuck with them half way or even 3/4 through because I either doubt I'll be able to complete it as the version I envisioned, or because it doesn't seem "perfect" enough😅 when in reality I would've learnt and progressed so much more if I went the extra mile and actually finished all of them. Thanks for this piece of wisdom and motivation Sam! Also love the painting!! Your style seems so simple yet impactful, gorgeous!😍
In many paintings I did the last months, in my head there was a tiny voice telling me "it wont be good enough, do not try" and get frustrated a lot, but you're the voice I need inside my head "trust the process" thank you for sharing your knowledge and for being such a charismatic person!
It's soo inspiring...trust the process beleive in yourself and don't worry about anything just having a great time doing what you love and improving..thank you for the inspiration ❤️
Oh, I love your drawings and the way you motivate people to keep drawing, thank you.
I was painting along and you talking and teaching about these aspect that are so important for improving made my painting process so muc more enjoyable. Thank you!
Came for the art, stayed for the life lessons lol 10/10 amazing
Love that encouragement about continuing until you finish!
I’m finding that for characters I prefer to do a sketch, but for backgrounds and landscapes, I find that it is *_much more motivating_* and significantly more fun to *_NOT_* do a sketch with lines. Because when I do a background with lines, I sort of stop that thought process, and I feel shackled to the lines rather than being able to optimize the background to fit the characters more/be more expressive. It really does feel more like sculpture! With the lines, it just felt like I was doing over what I already did with the backgrounds. It’s actually a lot faster for me! I remember a while ago when I did a non-loose sketch for a painting, and I gave up during the flatting stage. But when I drew three backgrounds without a sketch recently, I was so motivated that it reinvigorated my love for drawing and made me want to experiment! It’s what made me like backgrounds and landscapes. Thank you for this: this approach really helped me.
You are brilliant. I can spend hours watching you paint and take inspiration.
Loved it, everything you do is just amazing 🥺❤ thanks for always be so inspiring 🥰
It’s so nice to listen to you bc your voice is so lovely! And your art is amazing even you didn’t sketch! Conclusion: you and your art are amazing!🥰💕✨
