Can you move a Loop Component to a SharePoint Document Library 🤔

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I'll be looking at what happens when you move a #MicrosoftLoop component from its original location in OneDrive, and whether you can store these files in a #SharePoint document library instead.
As you may know, when you create or insert a loop component into #Outlook or #MicrosoftTeams chat, it's stored in the creator's #OneDrive for Business.
However, there are times when you may want to move this file to a different location.
Let's see if we can move them.

Thanks Daniel, you've just cleared up one of my questions I had on Loop. I imagine some issues when people get off-boarded and not transfer there Loop components. Than the OneDrive's need to be restored and the whole sharing of these components need to be done again. 🙂 Would be great if it's moved to SharePoint the component link would not get broken. Anyways thanks for shading some light on this one.

Great news but tedious: 1. Can moving the file be power automated? (As soon as new .loop is save move to team…or SharePoint) 2. Can the default save directly be changed internally (like in settings, etc.)

Good content! Now, Microsoft just needs to give us the ability to create Loop components in SharePoint document libraries. This is a great workaround in the meantime though. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Daniel, thanks again for your video. Do you know of it's possible to show a loop component as a webpart, now or in the future?

Very useful! Thank you Daniel. I am looking at building a Teams template using standard components. So am thinking if I create a Teams, add a few SharePoint pages after I have moved all the components to the Teams SharePoint library and reconfig the Team, then save it it may work. #fingerscrossed! I think this is something Microsoft should have resolved sooner... Maybe with them working on the components for Channel chats there will be a silver bullet.

Hi Daniel, watching this 8 months later and somehow doesn't work, the Loop WK/component can't be moved as I have access denied as owner to its location. Yet, what I read in the comments that now you can create loop in SPO/Teams, don't see it, don't have that option there, so maybe following updates cleaned that up?? Thx

prefer to have the loop in sharepoint than one drive .... if user leaves the organisation and account gets delete the loop file and shared files are deleted ...

What happens if you move a Loop component into a SharePoint Team and then Share that Component with someone NOT a member? Will they have access?

Microsoft has an uncanny ability to disappoint and confuse me.
