@@earthlydelightsWhen I was in my 60s I found 2 marbles, a plastic soldier and a plastic Indian at different times, in my backyard, from my childhood. Buried. When I was gardening. Childhood toy debris!

We’re still trying to figure that out. Could have been made in the 90’s but it is really nice and you don’t come by them often.

I see them "around" . They are from the 1980s actually ; but they are still reproductions nonetheless. @@earthlydelights

@@earthlydelights Not very nice of the maker to put a different company's name on their product and not their own, IMO. It would look nice with my pop bottle collection, though!

13:02 Note To Newbie Resellers : TINS ! You will encounter HUNDREDS of interesting tins in the wild . MANY of them from the "granny-tique" period of the 1950s to the "Mondo-Mod" periods of the 1960s and the "Mushroom and Rooster Kitchens" of 1973 Sears and Roebuck. . As "collectible" as they look: they are NOT easy to sell AND when they do sell , it's $10.00 and under. Way under. If you like them for yourself or a friend as a gift: GO NUTS. They are available 24/7 . And ESPECIALLY stay away with anything showing ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILES . And thank me later. 🙂

On the UPSIDE old tin file boxes stuffed with hand written RECIPIES can do well ! Also the ones stuffed with 1970s coupons ! These are a good pick up at estate sales when other resellers are grabbing the OBVIOUS (swung glass vases, brooches , old video games, etc.) .

My philosophy is that if you’re buying for yourself and you like it, buy it. If it fits your business model and makes your margins, buy it. If I sell 100 items at the flea for 10-12 bucks and only have a dollar into it, I make a $1000. Our approach is to have things at different price points to bring people in. But yea, it’s good to not buy things that either don’t sell or don’t make you enough. We bought three tins for $3 at an estate sale and sold them for $30 so I am happy with that. It all adds up. But for some, those margins aren’t enough.

I've got a tin related to autos: "Cook & Co.'s High Speed Ring Travellers". I guess they were like bearing races. It has flowers on the front and a winged fairy on the top riding on a ring, sort of like the cavemen in "BC". It's dated 1921, from Bombay. I like it! UPDATE: There is only one like mine on eBay. They are asking $63, but none have sold lately. Mine is in much better condition and I paid much less.

We work with an accountant to ensure we’re following the tax laws. Thankfully there are a number of tax write offs running a small business they guide us through.
