When I played 2b2t (I was leader of the Invisibles group if you’re familiar), we farmed 1 million melons and placed them at spawn in about 8 real life hours. We had 4 entire 32 chunk render distances covered in auto farmers all the way to height limit. Although that 8 hours is most definitely not including the time spent building the machines. That took us like 2 weeks lol, but after that we basically had infinite melons that we couldn’t even deliver fast enough.

He should have gotten silk touch on his ax and did the manual Farm to put that in perspective that would be 9 melons her a melody he also should have added more chunk loaders and expanded the farm much more he should have made an odd number so he'll be getting melons on the way back so we could start again but that's just my take on how to get a million melons!

Yo @rekrap2, you could have made your storage more efficient by not adding more chests down the row, but rather across the column i.e. the water stream, as a single hopper can only handle a small load of items.
i just realized that he was able to captivate my attention for 25 minutes straight by harvesting melons

@@danielbbg6199 pumpkin would be 1 per harvest, but melon drop more than 1. They act the same for growing but not for harvesting essentially.
The reason the game crashed is because your auto melon farm was just sitting entities there because you blocked it off. There was most likely 10K items just sitting there

Items stack and despawn after 5 min. That rate would require at least 2133.3333… items per second on average.

If you are a longtime factions server player you have done what they are doing hundreds of times over the economy on those servers usually has a big farming aspect so people make giant sugarcane, melon or cactus farms. A 10 chunk cactus farm from bedrock to worldheight in 1.8 wasn't uncommon.

Btw, chunk loading does not cause random ticks to happen, and therefore doesn't work for any farm that requires random ticking. (including melon farms)
Rekrap is honestly one of the most engaging content creators, he always puts his montages and tension in the right spots. He can make something as dull as farming melons for just under two days and make it into the most entertaining video I’ve ever seen.

I can't be only one who was like "why doesn't he use silk touch". It would give 9 guaranteed slices from every melon from manual farm. In comparison, fortune III is 6.(something) per one. You'd still need automatic farm, obviously. It's just a small improvement

I had also a problem that left me unable to walk, and at first no one knew what it was or how to help, but soon enough, they discovered it and that could be fatal, but I had a lucky case and recovered pretty quickly without needing any intervention, and after 3 months I still feel the scars but I'm a lot better. I hope you can also recover from your surgery and be always positive, because the bad days will pass and you just need to wait and do your best to go over your problems

The error here wast the ammount of hoppers rows, normal hoppers move 2.5 items per second 150 items per minute each, you had 5 hoppers meaning the initial row moves 750 melons per minute and the exces go to waste. (you can increase this speed using cart hopper) you were producing more melons that the sytems can store. 18:10 every calculation were right, but the storage system was the bottleneck

So using minecart with hoppers is better?, Ik the movement of items in a hopper is 2.5(as you said) though minecart with hoppers have 5 slots and it takes a second for 20 items, so in conclusion, you would have like 1200 melons per minute, and considering if more minecart with hoppers are added, it will be multiplied to the amount of hoppers. Idek what im blabbin bout but i generally think i made some sense, yes, this is just the solution for despawn rates. Bro couldve really made it if he had just made more storage system
farming in minecraft is so nice i love making massive farms like multi layer huge pumpkin, wheat, carrot, or any fun crop i dont know why but its so fun to look at huge farm fields

If you were so torn up about not having slime…..use honey. Easy to farm from bees, and do the exact same thing as slime when used in redstone. Also putting the chunk loader on the auto melon farm was probably more useful, so when mining or harvesting the manual farm it was still producing hundreds of thousands of melons in the meantime

I believe melon growth is random tick based, right? in which case, a chunk loader doesnt do anything as only in an area around the actual player do random ticks happen.

@@Mentir42 so then in neither location would one be useful, so one way or another, he messed up. If it does work with chunk loaders, then building one over the auto farm was more valuable. If it doesnt work, building one at all was a mistake. Either way, still a general waste of time building one over the manual farm

No that doesn't make any sense because his storage would be full because he takes a lot of time mining redstone and some other things and he was talking to his roommate

0:45 I would have built a tick machine and mass produced kelp. Sure, a lot of set up time, but the yield is much greater.
This does strike me as a very good competitive thing. Like how fast can you get 1M melons, or how many melons can you produce in 100 days. I bet there'd be some insane optimizations people could come up with

@White Structurally, I think a speedrun would need carpet mod or something, so you can time exactly when you get the 1M'th melon. A 100-day-max-melons-challenge is easier to do with no special counting method

well actually when you make a farm with melons and pumpkins alternating they grow much faster. But idk if thats a strat or not cuz that also means half the amount of melons

Flying machines should be much more efficient than this one-piston-per-melon farm. You need a few minecraft days to get the slime but then you can harvest several ~250 block long rows per machine. Melons with two free spaces grow every ~5 minutes or 4 times per day with frequent harvesting, so we need 5000 melon plants or 40 rows if the machine starts on day 50. That's just a handful of flying machines. The setup time for the flying machines is much shorter because you simply plant long rows of melons.
I love how the roommate is so chill with the whole melon addiction thing and even gets hyped about it too

wow the fith secret melon farm was really convenient for the end, gg on getting 1 million
Because of this video, I managed to figure out why my melon and pumpkin farms weren't producing. I blocked them up so I just had to replace some of it with glass
