I did the same challenge not that long ago (only now I found and watched this video). A few things I noticed in correlation with this video: 1. On Artisans homeworld I actually COULD damage the gem thief gnorc with Sheila. I approached him from the front (not where his bag is) and gave him a good kick. With this knowledge in mind, I remained ONLY as Sheila through the entirety of Artisans (level) to see if I can manage to 100% the level. And yes, it was doable! I even could hop up to the Cliff Town portal too. 2. I also allowed myself to freely switch between the four characters through the run. However, I restricted myself to not use Sgt Byrd through any of the Artisans worlds. I only used Sheila and Agent 9. The one Artisans level that was possible to complete 100% like this was Dark Hollows. 4. Even after moving on to other homeworlds, I aimed to use Sgt Byrd as a sort of "gliding-substitute" and limit his flying abilities, to rely on Sheila's double jump more. I only started freely using Byrd from Beast Makers onwards. 5. On Peace Keepers, since I couldn't light the cannon fuse to open locked metal treasure chests, I baited the gnorcs themselves to shoot them for some extra gems. 6. I noticed that Bentley's Reflection ability works on ANY enemy projectiles coming at you, but barely any reflected projectiles did harm against the enemies themselves (in Spyro 1 at least, there are a ton more enemies with friendly fire capability in Spyro 3 whose own attacks can be reflected back onto them). 7. I also noticed the same thing with the druids, they can only be kicked to death after you took damage from them. I felt very proud of myself upon learning this! 8. I, too, recognized the potential in using Metalhead's own attacks against the pylons. I felt even more proud!! 9. I actually didn't know Byrd could deal damage to Gnasty. I used Byrd to approach him, but utilized Agent 9's reliable laser blast. It's nice to see that we both had the same idea and had similar results in general. Was certainly a fun experiment!

i kinda like the idea of all of spyro's friends having to work together to accomplish what he could alone. before i started the video i was honestly expecting you to switch them out as needed so i'm glad that's what ended up being the solution

Great video and I applaud your efforts but my god stuff like this is why I always crank down resolution and effects on every game I play because my computer isn't the best. trust me shitty visuals are preferred in exchange for a stable framerate ALWAYS

A lot of this seems limited to what the modders coded in. The characters should be able to interact normally.

I guess they need Spyro's attack properties to be assigned to their attacks. That way, it makes more sense what each character can and can't do.

So Agent 9's lasers have the same proprieties of Spyro's flames? Nice to know. Please try Spyro 2 and 3 next!

Really cool video, well done. The frame rate was a shame but tbh it didn’t really take away from the video too much and I still enjoyed watching

If they ever make a "spyro 4", I really hope that you'll be able to play any of the five characters everywhere, with different challenges for each, a bit like donkey kong 64

Before watching the video I thought 'Sgt Byrd will be easy mode; Sheila will probably do well but won't be able to make some glides, she might fail around Dream Weavers; Agent 9 should do pretty well but no glide and an average jump will probably be his end; Bentley lol, with his jump he hasn't got a hope.' (Spoilers for how it actually went) I did *not* bank on enemies just ignoring most attacks from Sheila, Sgt Byrd and Bentley. And Sgt Byrd being unable to break boxes, either. I did like the teamwork angle when each of their runs failed, though - that sounds a fun way to play, using every character *but* Spyro in a team effort :D (As for the frame rate - my pc would be lucky to manage 1fpm I think, so I can't judge. The narrative is the important bit XD)

Thanks for making this video. I have played reignited on the XBox but PC seems way more fun with all the available mods. I'd like to play the game with Srgt byrd because I'm sure it would prove very interesting from the area map view.

Gotta say, this is much better to watch at 1.25x speed. It makes the frame rate a bit smoother.

its a good thing the game was made from the ground up. if they used the old codes from the originals it probably would not work.

This makes me want multiplayer mode for this mod. Meta would be sgt byrd, agent 9 and if its 3 player mode, then sheila lol. But i wish mod would also "balance" them out, like certain uninteractivity with items and enemies, so its universally available. For example making bentley gave destructive force to kill all. Metal goant spiders, metal giant turtles, you name it.

I'm quite surprised Sheila got the farthest on her own.

My guess is that under the hood, each of the other characters use different damage types that Spyro has but the others don't and the mod doesn't account for this across all three games. Yet. Probably. Most likely, Agent 9 has fire damage, Bently has some form of 'Charge' damage and others must count as some form of explosive or melee damage that the enemies of Spyro one aren't set up to respond to but the enemies of the levels they're from are.

Can’t Sgt. Byrd do the flight levels though? In fact he’s the one that does the flight levels in A Hero’s Tail. Wonder how far you can progress if you use him as well as Hunter and Blink.

That's so weird with the character's attacks. I always assumed that the extra characters' attacks were just reflavored versions of Spyro's flame, charge, superflame, etc. abilities. I guess that's not the case, at least in the Reignited Trilogy?

So then I am guessing the enimies that die by fire attacks can only be hurt by sonething that is is also a fire attack. Agent 9 must have a "fire" attack. Sheila and Sgt. bird have a physical attack for some reason. The club working on some but not others does confuse me, but maybe it has an AOE?

What if in spyro year of the dragon the playable characters are in the main levels and spyro only did the side levels.

So this is really limited by the way these characters were specifically limited to the enemies they would normally meet. Has that mod been upgraded to fix those enemy interactions?

What if you couldn't change mid-level? Only change from a neutral position in the level hub.

Hmm... This is interesting. It seems most of these stages can be completed by either Sgt. Bryd or Shelia but is deadlocked on the fact that for full completion, Agent 9 and Bentley are needed to damage certain enemies since the former two can't. The fact that the former two can't damage certain enemies is beyond ridiculous when they could do so no problem in the 3rd game... I hope someone fixes this. Regardless, being able to play as any of the other characters in the 3rd game in the first title is hype. Sgt. Bryd would definitely be the more popular choice for 100% completion. Shelia second to none if it weren't for the fact that she can't damage certain enemies, let alone break certain chests.

Your game looks very good, were there no other settings you could've minimized Good video nonetheless

How did Shiela reach the exit portal on Dr Shamp's level?

Use all four together.

I have a RTX 3070 and Ryzen 5 5800X, the game still stutters because console games being ported to PC aren't well thought out.

So what I learned from this is that the mod is faulty as it doesn't take the different characters attack properties into account as it does not apply them to the enemies and boxes in the first spyro game making the whole thing void and pointless.

This but with Spyro 2

I mean, yeah, of course you'd be able to finish the game easily if you could switch between characters on the fly. It would be more interesting to see if it were possible using only one character per level. Like, would Agent 9 be able to get the needed egg thieves solo if the other levels he couldn't finish were finished by another character?

What happens if you go in a flight level with someone else? Sargent Bird can't do the flight levels? Nestor can't be skipped? How come? I actually misread Alpine Ridge as Airplane Ride and wondered where the airplane was. 12:59 I thought you were already doing that.

Try Spyro 2 next

Agent 9 is my favorite! He is so good he deserves his own stand-alone game! Agent 9 also seems to be the only one who can kill nearly every enemy! Poor Bentley had nothing going for him, he could barley jump and couldn’t even attack most enemies, however all the others had benefits and were important to the play through! Also nice Skylanders reference, I wish these four got to be Skylanders so we could have awesome figures of them!

Why not? You're watching this for free on KZread, seems a tad entitled to whinge about the frame rates. Honestly i barely noticed the framerate after the first minute or so cause i was absorbed in the narrative. If this was a speedrun, then fair enough it'd be a problem, but as it is its honestly not a huge deal.

Sorry I can’t watch past 5 min the frame rate is just far too low for me to stomach but I did really want to watch. Hope you can upgrade your hardware or find a work around to allow for better FPS.

He said at the beginning that's just how his pc ran the game, and for a mod like this i really don't think it hinders the content in any way. Some of y'all need to chill out that a video on a free to watch platform isn't 4k 60 or even 30fps.

Tbh i always hated Spyro 3 because you could clearly feel it was supposed to be the last game of the original frenchise. The game feeled like they just try out stuff for later games which in fact they did. I mean the Ape pretty much is a Ratchet and Clank early Alpha and the game was filled with mini games totaly wrecking the pace of the game.
