​@@FlourescentPotatoStreamline is honestly pretty solid. 15 (20) damage for two is a lot early game, and with a rebound or a hologram (also both commons) you can quickly replay it to quickly end fights. While it's not run defining and I'll rarely grab it after act one, it still holds its own all the way to the heart.

The funny thing is that so long as you are lucky on the first couple combat rewards this challenge just makes your deck better.

Yeah, ironically, I think I would rather start with no cards or 1 card.

Starting with Mercury Hourglass and Neow's Lament would enable the other characters to get a similar start to The Defect in this challenge.

True. But really with the other characters u would just need to get any kind of damage from the starting bonus, so choose a card, choose a rare, choose a colorless, or rare colorless have pretty good chances

Ok so I didn't know where they were from but I found them eventually. in order the song's played in the heart fight are: "Undefeatable"-Sonic Frontiers. "Break Through it All"-Sonic Frontiers "Still Alive"-Mirror's Edge Damn I didn't know that there was rock music in the first open-zone type game.

3d Sonic games have always had rock songs with vocals, but usually it was silly pop-rock or butt-rock type stuff like Crush 40, not like intense post-hardcore emo metal shit. I guess I gotta listen to the OST now, goddamn

Spoilers for Sonic Frontiers Undefeatable only plays when you collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds, and you are fighting the Boss of the Area as Super Sonic

I love this challenge. What are your thoughts on doing this challenge with Neow's Lament and bronze scales? Then you can do it on any character, but you would tank the first three fights.

I think hourglass is better for the challenge because bronze scales is a big advantage towards the heart which makes it a lot easier

I love how you give A LOT of credit for the guy you took the idea from, huge props for giving him the shoutout

The pop ups for the relics is such a smart move. Baalorlord's editor gotta get on that. I know every relic by heart but for new players it's huge

Actually did this on my first try, but I definitely got the "with enough luck" part of the challenge. Started with a couple of claws and draw cards, a turbo a bit later, so I got through most fights pretty easy. Ended up getting Black star which got me the broken Torii + metal rod combo, so I was fairly safe for half of the heart fight and with a couple of buffers I got through it taking almost no damage.

An interesting challenge could be the opposite, beating slay the spire, but you have one of every card in the deck

here's a challenge, there's a relic that allows you to add cards that are played that are not in your deck, it's in one of the relic mods you play with, maybe Hug you. Start with that relic and a Discovery, can only earn cards from combat

Sick run! Super stressed through Act 2, but you played out of your mind to get through. Thanks for the content Frost and Andrew!

You have to be thinking about what you need for acts 3-4 from the beginning, but the rest is being able to beat A20 normally, by act 3 it's like a very good run from slay the streamer where chat just wanted to help I feel like the biggest challenge is making it out of act 2 for two reasons 1. You can make a consistently powerful deck on act 1, but that doesn't necessarily beat act 2 2. You're playing the defect

This was a great run and challenge! The strats of drawing voids on 0 energy and hologramming the voids to not lose the energy are something I'll try to copy myself!

Knowing Frost will never heart one of my comments breaks my heart.

Congrats, impressive! I've done this due to a bug with a mod; honestly? If you survive the first encounter, the only challenges are those that give statuses. [Not a brag. I've lost nearly every run caused by this bug.] Those statuses are brutal. Won twice, but so everyone knows, those were with MODDED cards, so I don't count them.

This is one of the best StS runs. Peak.

New challenge idea: defect run where you cannot deal and damage, block, or gaining extra energy besides relics and orbs (passive orb abilities and evoking are both allowed, but you could choose to not allow orb evoking for a bigger challenge)
