Can you Beat Pokemon Yellow with BRUNO'S TERRIBLE TEAM from Red/Blue?

Ойындар

His team is bad, his movesets are worse, and we're going to try and play through the more difficult Generation 1 game as him. It's Bruno's time to shine!

When you have to spread EXP to five Pokemon who aren't great even when fully evolved instead of pooling all of your resources into a single ally, it kind of makes sense management would be more involved and progress possibly slower.

And even if they really wanted a Rock type on his team, why not the vastly superior Golem that would be much more fitting for an Elite 4 member? At least Poliwrath gives some interesting type coverage and has good special. It could have Mega Punch/Submission, Bubblebeam/Hydro Pump (Poliwhirl learns Hydro Pump but Poliwrath does not), Hypnosis, and perhaps Amnesia or Submission. Would definitely be better than an Onix. I'm not sure Primeape really offers anything that the other pure fighting-types don't. Thrash and Screech are good, but I don't see much else that stands out. Maybe Seismic Toss?

His Pokemon Stadium teams have such random Pokemon tacked on. Aside from Rhydon and Golem, he gets Slowbro, Clefable, Exeggutor, Muk, Blastoise, Kangaskhan, and Stadium 2 gives him Ursaring, Heracross and Granbull. The last two I can understand: Heracross is fighting and Granbull looks like him. The mango made it seem like he just used Onix to get around on, like an HM slave, and that he'd just caught them as he trains in caves, not because he preferred them. I used to think he was Brock's dad (forgot his name was Flint in the anime) and just like Onix because his son used them.

50:23 : "I don't even want to guess at the percent chance at that turn of events." No worries, I got you. First, a few values, with Bulbapedia being the source of all my info. Gen 1 crit chance: Base speed of the Pokemon / 512 Onyx base speed: 70 Therefore Onyx's chance of critting: Roughly 13.671875%, or 35/256. Gen 1 hitting yourself in confusion chace: 1/2 or 50% Gen 1 Rock Throw accuracy: 13/20 or 65% With all that in mind.... Turn 1: Onyx is confused, but lands a crit Rock Throw anyway. (1/2) * (13/20) * (35/256) = roughly 4.44% chance for this turn alone. But let's keep going. Turn 2: Onyx is confused, but lands a Rock Throw anyway. (1/2) * (13/20) = 32.5% chance for this turn alone. The chances of this happening in sequence with the previous turn are 1.444%. Turn 3: Onyx is confused, and hurts itself in confusion. 1/2 = 50%. In sequences with the previous turns, we are now down to 0.722% chance. Turn 4: Onyx is no longer confused, and lands a crit Rock Throw. (13/20) * (35/256) = roughly 8.887%. The chances of this happening in sequence with the previous turns are 0.064%. And we're not quite done. Since the confusion condition has a random chance of lasting 2 to 5 turns, there is a 1/4 chance of any of those happening. Meaning our final answer for the chances of this specific sequences of 4 turns happening is 0.016%.

I mean, I can roll a D100 5 times and be like "aye I had a 1 in 10 billion odds in landing this exact combination" but no one cares because it happened. What's "impressive" is that the things that happened were both unlikely and particularly good. When one talks about "the probability that a sequence of random events happened", they most of the time mean that it was a desired result - that's the difference between landing a bullseye and throwing a dart at a wall and then drawing a target around it. Yes, the probability of this particular sequence of events is very low, but that's what should be expected of any result of any sequence of multiple random events as long as the probabilities involved are reasonably close to one another (ie throwing a D6 20 times, picking 10 cards out of a 54 card deck...). This is not meaningful because every outcome is somewhat unlikely. What might be mathematcially meaningful here is the damage dealt and taken overall - because that's what we care about here. What were the odds of dealing that much damage and taking back so little damage in this sequence of events ? Probably quite low (you would have to factor in gengar nicely going for dream eater and not trying to put him to sleep), but not as low as 0.016% I can tell you that much.

@@MyqueerEDjournal Weedle challenge will be impossible, most likely. Against Lorelei, he needs 3 consecutive critical hits with poison sting with maxed DVs and maxed stat XP. Else it just spams rest and recovers any ordinary damage, plus any poison status. Also, it's not even guaranteed to kill with three consecutive critical hits, due to damage spread.

@@KiranasOfRizon And that's the EASY part against the E4! For an itemless run, the big no-no is Bruno, he's FOR ONE pretty tough... jk, he's a joke again. Nah, the problem is your PP won't be large enough for Agatha (no dirty-pun intended): none of her Pokémon can be poisoned, Golbat and Arbok resist Poison Sting, and her 3 ghosts DOUBLE resist it, and cannot be hit by Struggle when it eventually runs out. Even if she barely attacks, just to deal enough damage you need a ridiculous amount of crits even at level 100 with maxed-out PPs, attack DVs and Stat Exp/EVs. Keep in mind: Weedle's low base speed mean crits won't be very frequent, a successful Dream Eater gives HP back to Haunter or Gengar, Agatha has at least 5 Super Potions and has a 32/256 chance of using one for every turn her Pokémon is below 20% of their max HP, you don't have a move to exploit the badge glitch (I think her Golbat and/or Arbok have Screech, but use it randomly due to being a "Bad AI", so you could get lucky, but if Golbat uses Haze your Stats go back to normal), and she usually leaves her Haunter and the 2nd Gengar for last, which means that when you're forced to use Struggle, her only Pokémon remaining will be the ones that are immune to it. She's the run killer, even when she doesn't attack much. Lorelei requires the 3 crits in a row against Dewgong, which is very infrequent, but you get plenty of tries since she won't attack back and is the first Pokémon of the first E4 member. She is not THAT high of a threat after that. So Loreiei is a matter of time. A lot of time, though. If you don't save between E4 members, it will take a lot of time just to have another go at Agatha. Then again, since Jrose's reasoning for doing all of it with no saves in between is to prove his Strategy is good enough to win each battle consistently. I don't see much point on applying it on a Weedle run, which gives practically no room for strategy due to the fact Weedle doesn't learn any moves. At all. But even then, Agatha's lottery might make it impossible.

This is why I'm subscribed to and happily watch Jrose, instead of other Pokémon 'challenge' channels. *Other YT Pokémon challenges* (at least those YT has tried suggesting to me): _CAN I BEAT POKÉMON [Insert one of many generations here] with Ash's team from the Anime??_ *Me:* _I mean yeah... Obviously... That's not exactly very challenging. Right level and right moves and you got it easily. Ash usually has a good mix of types on his team_ (also in one of the video's I actually tried watching the person just farmed wild Pokémon and farmed rare candy with pickup to an incredibly high lvl and breezed through everything... Like... Nice challenge? I guess) *Jrose's video:* _Can I beat Pokémon Yellow (because it's harder than R/B), with the worst elite four members exact team, AND exact moves (cutting out the one way he could have made Bruno's team stronger), WITHOUT over leveling or ever getting past Bruno's lvls, and in fact really being lower than the opponent for many fight in the video._ It's clear to see which of the two thought of what would actually make for an interesting challenge, and which one just thought about a clickable title...

This is so cool! I really like the trainer team challenges, it's pretty refreshing to see you use more than one Pokémon. Maybe sometime you could do a one using the rival's team, but their all unevolved? It'd be so cool to see you beat he champ with weaker forms of his own Pokémon :D

This is such a cool difference from your solo-mon runs, because it's cool to see how you strategize with a team.

You learn something new every day. I learned that Pokémon Gen 1 is really just a pile of spaghetti code so large and with so many bugs even TF2 is jealous.

Honestly i mean why he have two Onix? By Agatha/Lance it is "excuseable" trough the fact there are almost no Ghost/Dragon types. But there are still plenty of Fighting types!

There are two - Primeape and Poliwrath. I think, maybe developers thought "huh, this guy really would have 4 mono fighting Pokemon, that's not good". Maybe there is some reason about his backstory, idk.

I always asumed Onix was some sort of punching ball (it has a similar shape). However, why two is the real question indeed. xD
