Spudley well depending on if you need extra lives to survive the game the coins are nice to collect and have espeically for going up against the bosses. But other wise IAm sure if someone is a good/great gamer who knows how to play and beat the bosses without dying then you wouldn’t need to collect the money and you could beat the game either way.

Spudley the game never says if you have to collect the coins to win the game the coins could just be there for if you need extra lives and need a way to buy extra lives if you really need them. Since in the vault there’s no spot for coins or how much you collected and when luigi gets hurt he tends to Lose some coins in the process, the gems and ghosts are way more important to collect.

You should see Smallant1's Mario Odyssey runs. He has, among other things, beaten that game with 3 captures, with his feet, with chopsticks, blindfolded, and with no sound or audio using only twitch chat.

What I showed is basically what was in the video, but with a lot more time spent doing the double-trouble-suck-and-pull, waiting for the money from chest and vase to despawn, and carefully moving stuff around to more easily grab the exposed gems.

14:00 You can actually grab the torch early before grabbing the bucket using the poltergust.

I think I have a solution for the chest with the pearl: I noticed that you didn't try using a second player. You could set up another controller, have Gooigi stand off to the side, and blow the pearl away, hopefully preventing Luigi from collecting the pearl.

I've tried this before with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and made it through the Gloomy Manor without collecting any money, but I did end up quitting once I got to the first mission of Haunted Towers because of a large amount of money dropping in random spots once you vacuum a giant leaf off a door.

This video taught me that, unlike in the second game, you can lose coins that weren't collected _as_ coins in this game! Dark Moon would leave you stuck with any paper notes or gold bars you failed to dodge.

I didn’t want the game spoiled to me so I paused it. I think it was 5 months that this video was paused for, now I’m excited to actually watch it.

seeing how that before you even get the first elevator button you can collect about 7000G, its pretty impressive that you only collected 105G.

I love doing this stuff too! I tried doing it for Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, but even after that frustrating slide... I'll let you try it for yourself.

soggy fishy that’s because for some people the coins are nice to have because of the golden bones for extra lives. and some people need more practice beating certain levels. The coins are probably there for those who truely need them in order to buy extra lives

It’s also much more infuriating to avoid every single coin. Granted, not worrying about Boos or Gems or checking every corner of a room has its benefits, but you also cannot get any more Gold Bones past the one free bone, dealing with ghosts is more annoying, and even simple tasks can be extremely difficult because of a single gold bar. I beat the game with all boos and gems with 20 hours of playtime, and I’ve now gotten up to 6F (only referring to this video to see what he’s done UP TO where I am, not past), and it is very difficult. Not sure where I was going with this anymore, but there you go.

VirtualDude 728 the coins are probably there for those who need them so they are nice to have. But at the same time if you are someone who can battle a ghost without getting damaged in the process then the coins are pointless to collect unless you need extra lives I’ve used the gold bones a couple of times just to be safe just because the ghosts kept killing my Luigi multiple times so I know how you feel.

Yeah that’s basically it. I finished the game with 77K(ish) coins but I never bought gold bones since I wanted as much money as possible. I only died twice, once when you run from King Boo on 5F and once in the Snake Room on 10F

With the pearl, you could try having Luigi on push duty, while gooigi spawns (on the other side of the puddles) and open the chest, and the pearl flies of the edge? Idk. And I’ll try to think of a solution for those extra coins near the end of the game.
