Me actively building Lulu as a physical damage dealer bc having her doll run up to an enemy and one-shot it is hilarious: yes. Yes you can.

20:42 later in the story, if you go back to Macalania Forest, you'll find 2 Guados. They'll tell how Seymour actually summoned the fiends into the arena and made Anima kill them, so he could gain the trust of the people of Spira. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story plays out!! Definitely will catch the next episodes! :D

Went in to type this - quite a cryptic piece of info, but it’s cool it exists in game
When "stay away from the summoner" becomes a warning for others instead of a threat xD
The story 100% explains why there's fiends inside the water sphere during the first blitzball match. It's because Seymour guado, the reoccurring boss and political figure. It was all scheme just by him to make the people like him after he summons the creepy thing to save everyone.
I did this when I was a teenager, I made Yuna an immortal beast basically. The most worthy character to complete the Sphere Grid with. Auto-Life, OP Aeons who can also shield from ultimate, huge magical arsenal with boosted magic stats, Fully Powered Nirvanna Staff. Srsly Yuna is an absolute beast.
@frankbrodie5168
Жыл бұрын
Yeah.. Yuna is comfortably the most 'sensible' character in the game to power up with any and all stat spheres that you find along the way. And grind through her grid like you love that girl. The Sisters can rip through loads of the Arena long before any of your characters can grind stuff out in there. Hell, even Anima in a pinch can beat quite a few useful monsters in there that otherwise would require actually knowing what to do. And her celestial weapon is probably the easiest to fully power up. Barring maybe Rikku. Add into that the fact that Yuna's celestial can break damage limit the first time you hit the Calm Lands. And she is indeed the absolute beast in the game. Definitely the easiest to make a beast anyway.

@@frankbrodie5168 I'd say Wakka is even easier to master his celestial weapon if you know how to cheese blitzball. And NOTHING beats his Attack Reels if you master the timing. 12 hits of max break damage is bonkers

Yuma I'd my favorite character alongside Auron and Tidus. Even if she doesn't look it she can become a Powerhouse quite quickly. 😊
I normally send Yuna down the strength char routes, to make the aeons normal attacks hit like dump trucks, and just use Kamari as a white mage
Honestly I'd argue that Tidus's daddy issues are the real main villain, but that's up to interpretation.

It's so funny that a mistake can be interpreted as cannon (kids not being good with words is this example)
“Normally you don’t use cheer in a normal play through” Me who’s used it in almost every fight: well duh who would do that?
See this actually reminds me of how I ended up making Khimari the Ultimate Badass, by making him migrate through the entire physical arc of the sphere grid. By the time I took on Sin he was strong enough to 1 shot EVERYTHING we encountered. On a side note, I really liked how the sphere grid's placement of people sort of matched up with their relationships. Tidus was adjacent to Auron and Yuna, the two people he had the closest bond to. Wakka was adjacent to Lulu, because they were lovers, Rikku was adjacent to Yuna, and Khimari was as well. So it kind of made the character progression, reflect the other character's influences on Tidus. Which I thought was a nice touch. You could of course derail that with jump spheres and friend spheres, etc, but if you were just following the trails as plotted out, it would sort of reflect the blending of influences on the character's most important to the person.
@doubtingtom92

Not to mention that Rikku met Tidus in Baaj temple, and she spoke his language on the boat. My most recent run, I put Tidus through his own, Auron for effects/pierce, and Rikkus for stealing and item using.

Tbh kimahri was pretty much in the middle of the grid. He can go into anyone else's grid with a single lv1 or 2 lock
One run, I got a rod with Stonetouch on it really early on, and Yuna used it to one shot an Ochu, and I was impressed.
I love the premise of this video. I have played this game so many times that I had experimented with taking them into other grids. My favorite run was females only on tidus' grid. I had made a 'weapon' for lulu with stonestrike, Deathstroke, evade and counter, and magic counter. It was hilarious watching a little cactaur run up and hitting quad 9's, if she didn't outright kill them with stone/death.
I remember doing this as soon as I got the HD version. Didn't do the exact same swaps but something similar. It was a blast
Great idea! Im gonna try this but cheat some teleport spheres right at the beginning so everyone just gets to the new roles immediately.
I turned Wakka into my black mage, Kimahri into my tank, and Rikku into my white mage. It was a really fun run

A tip for Blitzball. Manual, Left side, run into goal, pass once to not tidus to bait them away from goal, pass to tidus and get a 0person shoot on goal. It's not necessary to go through the extra hubbub.
I'm literally doing this right now. Made Rikku a debuff Monk tank.
Gotta show some love and appreciate for your editing and humour! I've seen and enjoy a lot of these different types of playthrough videos, but yours has given me the most laughter out of all of them which really helps me enjoy it that much more, the comments on the Luca Goers, Yuna running into a wall, and Auron and Lulu both having a go at Wakka, those moments had me in a chuckling fit. Subscribed and keen for more videos of this playthrough!

I‘m already hyped for the next part! I'm glad to see that so many people are still into FFX and the idea of switching the sphere grid paths seems like a very chaotic and twisty way of playing the game, keep going!
getting this in my recommendations is really cool because i was recently actually considering a run with a similar spirit where the concept was "if you see another grid to go down, you have to go down it if you can at that point in the run". this is probably a more reasonable concept. hope it stays interesting later in the game and people don't overfit to their new roles!

I actually have a run that is kinda like that. I have just about all characters use the lvl 2 locks in the standard sphere grid that put each player on the path of the person next to them. So long as you follow good strategy to stay alive till spherimorph boss (or just flee do what's fun for you.) They can get very OP because you save a lot of sphere levels for parts of the sphere grid with spheres that are +3's and 4's. I made a guide feel free to check it out.
Maybe because I'm way too familiarity with this game having made a challenge guide myself, but I think you are going easy on yourself. I'd say it could be done using a save editor and swapping character start positions. You are also allowing each player to revert to their initial job. That seems to take a lot of challenge out of it considering no sphere grid runs are relatively doable by this point. Maybe that's not so easy if your playing on console but I absolutely feel that these challenges are best when they force you to explore the mechanics. There are several tactics and abilities like power break, provoke, null magic that simplify fighting the bombs, mushrooms, fire element, and sin-spawn gui.
Great challenge run, I can't wait to see the next part. I really like how you include fights against the regular enemies too, some can be so troublesome to deal with.
Actually There is an easily overseen moment explaining the Luca Fiends. When you're at Endgame & can visit Guadosalam + Macalania Woods, in an out of the way hole type of spot where you can talk to some still living Guado, with one admitting it was their fault
This is awesome, finally someone playing a cool expert sphere grid run
I loooooove this game so much - brilliant editing I laughed out loud 😂
This challenge is something I always wanted to do! Thank you for doing this
You should have started the game with a 1 Teleport Sphere (with cheats or so) per character to actually swap their starting positions from the very beginning. But seeing it done in a clean vanilla run is also really neat to see. Great video.

you could still do it with teleport grids, you just need to either not level, or just level a little as possible until you get access to the tps.
actively in the middle of my second run doing just this. It's very rewarding and Yuna into Auron makes CRAZY aeons.
I actually did something similar naturally on my first run. When I was a teenager I had a bad habit of skipping all tutorials so I didn’t even know the sphere grid existed, so I was at base level until the battle where Seymour fights alongside you😂 Took me at least 20 minutes to level everyone after looking up why all my characters suck so bad lol
Really cool run. You have earned yourself a sub my friend. I am looking forward to seeing more of this.
If anything it makes the game easier, pumping Yuna's strength makes the aeons ridiculously overpowered. She's always the first one I statmax because the stat boosts to the aeons are just so good! Edit: typed this before rule 2 lol, in that case with no summons, a bit harder but not much, the game is already pretty easy.

The first time I grinded everyone to get celestial and turn my party into damage dealing monsters Yuna was the first to be ahead. Early Celestial and her path being so easy to clear made it so much easier. I cleared her path by the time I made it to Mt. Gagazet and then turned her down Auron's path for her strength and HP. I also used a few spheres so she obtained Flare, Ultima, and doublecast early on. Both her and Lulu were my main magic monsters while at the same time my Tidus became the main melee damage build. Wakka followed after since his attack reel is just OP with enough strength. Lol

I guess this means if they make another FFX game with Yuna, they should allow her the powers of the Sage Job from Bravely Default? Context: It was a Job that allowed you to channel the Summons you unlocked as Stat Buffs for your characters depending on which Summon you used.
honestly braver than the troops, I would've been grinding way more to achieve some sort of balance (or at least to get them into the starting positions early on)
I am so in the mood to play FFX now....I agree with Anima, even her name....she is terrifying with the blood, the chains, the hands....like, in FFIX, Atomos scared me as he is just a massive gaping maw that eats everything! Even Ark kinds creeped me out. Man, the summoners in the games are scary!
The Blitzball Fish are a PR Stunt pulled by said villian, as their tribe is one that can mess with monsters. Also Anima is based around Sacrifice of the mother. (Mary, as tag around the neck has a picture.) It fits with Aeon Origin too, the chains. (Still demonic enough for an antagonist.)
Love to see this type of content, subbed. GL in the future brother
Nice! Can't wait for part 2!
Not to spoil the fun, but FF10 is kinda famous for having this progression system where at the end every character can have all stats maxed out at 255 and know every technique and magic spell. Everyone can have it 255 attack, magic, defense, magic defense, agility, evasion,.... You get the point. And everyone can learn everything on the grid from steal and use to zombie strike to holy to ultima. Meaning, the late game won't be a surprise and the early game will be whatever, because you don't have a lot of ability points for the grid yet. Or rather, can't farm a lot. The mid game would also be rather self-explanatory. Instead of Yuna doing white magic, it's going to be someone else. Instead of Tidus being the quick character, it's going to be someone else etc. Still, excited how you're going to go about it and who you're going to choose for what. Breaking through those level 2 and higher sphere locks is going to be interesting to see (when you do it and who you will prioritise and why).
i got so excited about this! I've been working on a playthrough where just yuna and tidus are swapped (they are on each other's sphere grids, everyone else is on their own). I'm at seymour natus right now and tidus' magic stat has only just passed yuna's :') this video was great, and the editing was hilarious! can't wait for the rest
Nice challenge bro! Good work.
Interesting spell ability for Rikku @ 6:46 mark
can we just take a moment to talk about how khimari is really the only well rounded character on the team. like yeah they all got their stories and all are justified in their way of being, but he is the only one who despite all of his shortcomings doesnt let his emotions control him
Your commentary on the cutscenes is hilarious Yuna running away at 12:51 had me dead 💀
I've done an all magic run of FFX. That was pretty fun 😅
this is such a cool idea! also, I am just impressed with how much patience it takes
Aeons stats are directly tied to Yuna's so making her a fighter is actually not that silly even in a normal playthrough. Ran that build in one of my playthrough and just made Kimarhi my Healer.
Really interesting idea! Subscribed! Though it would be harder to set up and do, the only changes I would have made would be to not activate any spheres on the sphere grid until each character gets to their “starting point” on another’s grid. Also, not using any abilities they start out with (no Cure on Yuna or black magic on Lulu for example) to set each character more rigidly in their roles. I get why you didn’t do this (the grinding would have been nuts to set up), but might make for a “Hard Mode” version of this same challenge!

I was thinking the same thing so that it is actually like the classes are completely swapped, instead of a little bit of a merge. Just like you said though, it would make it very very difficult unless you leveled a bit more at the beginning to get people a bit closer to where they need to be

Maybe he could hack in some teleport spheres to set everyone in their asssumed routes right at the start? I'm assuming he's playing on PC do doing modding the game isnt too hard
I love to see artists’ renditions of the characters in their different roles
So my brain doesn't explode from explanation overdose: Yuna takes Auron's role (is going to be a beefy, ideally armor piercing fiend) Lulu takes Wakka's role (is going to be a strong, high acc status dealer) Wakka takes Lulu's role (is going to be a powerful black mage) Tidus takes Yuna's role (is going to be the white mage/healer) Kimahri takes Tidus's role (is going to be a quick hitting time warrior) Auron takes Rikku's role (is going to be a speedy thief with a lot of starting health) Rikku takes Kimahri's/floater role (as he states, red mage)
I love the image of Yuna wielding her staff like a greatsword like Auron and just sending monsters flying like a homerun.
This editing is fantastic
Kimahri going into Tidus's spheregrid was my usual go to lol. Haste yourself for the Ronso battle, and drain all the overdrive abilities easily.
This is how I play every time. Love building the weirdest party that goes against their original type.
I think, for a future attempt, you could start a save around Besaid, and just Fast Forward grind out spheres until everyone in the party at the moment is at their place, and then do the same thing for Auron and Rikku when they pop up. At a certain point you might have to ignore a lot of the level spheres you gain just to let Auron and Rikku play catch-up, but overall I think you should be fine. I'm not sure what the earliest times you can gain Teleport and Friend spheres, so those might be extremely helpful in getting those two where they need to go as fast as possible. At any rate, I really enjoyed this. :) Always fun to watch someone's attempts at something fresh in an old game.

@@ItsRayful i think the point is to play as legitimately as possible. Starting at besaid and farming spheres to swap out would probably be the safest way, but it leaves Auron and Rikku still in a bind. This challenge reminds of when I got bored on my max sphere grid save file and decided to max out Lulu as well, 255 strength Lulu is kind of hilarious and sadly is probably also stronger then mage Lulu because of how weak magic becomes late game in FFX.
I had a glitch some time back where Yuna became equipped with the Masamune at one point and I'm not sure how, but she proceeded to be my primary physical damage dealer after that. I am definitely going to have to watch this.
Amazingly well made video!

My favorite way to play is have everyone do rikkus sphere grid along with kimahri so everyone can steal and lancet
Swapping classes. First fight: Yuna casts esuna.
20:40 the monsters were released on behalf of seymour by guado servants. after the music video you can speak to one or two guado who confess to the player.
I remember my run where I sent Tidus to Lulu's grid, Yuna to Auran's grid, and Rikku to Waka's grid. I dont have many regrets in life, but why did I choose to do that? No clue. the grinding to make them viable was pain.
@33:52 Initiative also has the effect of never being able to be ambushed, unless the enemy has First Strike. So very good Thief ability in my opinion!
Well, since the kid became a blitzball like he wanted...I'm subbing that's hilarious 🤣
Actually, there is a part in machalania where some guados explain where the fiends in the stadium came from. They were summoned by the Guado for Seymour to summon Anima.
21:40 Anima is heavily inspired by Roman Catholicism's Anima Sola, a depiction of a soul shackled and trapped in purgatory. Kind of an interesting contrast to the rest of Spira, which is an "East Punk" fusion of Southeast Asia and Nepal.
Great idea for a run!
I tried this once, but ended up unable to beat the Seymour fight in Bevelle. I needed Reflect, and Kimahri (my white mage) didn't have it yet, so Seymour just nuked me into oblivion... My changes were these: Tidus > Auron Yuna > Lulu Lulu > Wakka Wakka > Rikku Kimahri > Yuna Rikku > Tidus Auron > Kimahri (all-around, rotating between all the others)
It looks like FFXED could be used to fix everyone's initial grid locations and unlocks (so you don't need the initial travel time across Khimarhi's zone)
Seymour releases the fiends at the Blitzball tournament so that he could look good in front of the whole nation when he fixed the problem. A true politician.
The Anima cutscene hits harder when you play a second time and know it's actually his mom
The joke with the kid being a blitzball is so stupid, but it made me laugh xDDD Why is that so funny?
I really had to double take that “anal x” label to make sure I wasn’t loosing it 🤣
@7:23 Freaking Hilarious. I laughed very hard and spilled chef boyardee all over my keyboard. Thats golden.
I came for the idea and stayed for the memes 🤣
When you showed the expert grid instead of the standard, my brain short circuited temporarily.
Enjoyed this, thanks 👍
The fiends where summoned by the Guado to make Seymour look like a hero.
Putting strength on Yuna is the optimum way to break the game due to it making Bahamut god-like.

I like when you talk about Teedus and Yuner’s heych P
Considering the aeons' stats are determined by Yuna's stats, it would be interesting to see how making Yuna take another character's path affects the aeon stats. They should hit harder and have more HP but less magic with Yuna on Auron's path. I'm surprised you didn't prioritize getting Auron steal and use. You can make the game pretty easy with an early steal by getting silence grenades in mushroom rock before the sinspawn. Of course you've got a nice opportunity to get a bunch of petrify grenades before crossing the moonflow.
@EldenRingBuildsArchive

I always do this with the expert sphere grid, basically you get Bahamut able to break the 9,999 damage limit by the time you acquire him, and his normal attack/instinct inflict more damage than the overdrive, given the latter is special.
6:47 I had to rewind cuz I caught that last second and thought that I read it wrong 🤣
To tell the difference, I name Tidus different things, but at least mine make sense. Like Tidal for example. And you should’ve done a newer save to avoid having started off then going back
I'm on the floor laughing at 13:12. Sick roast. Thank you
I thought I was a genius when I allowed Yuna to go into Lulu's and vice versa. God I miss playing.
He wants to be a blitz ball when he grows up
I've done it at least twice. Yuna with a melee job makes Bahamut's impulse break the whole game, so good call on banning summons :P
I tried this challenge too a long while ago on the steam version of FFX. what I did in order to make the opening "easier" was giving me teleport spheres and learn the throw gil command. so once I figured out who to send where, I used the teleport spheres, sold everything else Im not supposed to have (thank you steam version cheats) and then yeet all the Gil Im not supposed to have at the piranhas at the beginning :'D and then I went on my merry way. seeing Tidus heal like 150 HP was... disheartening XD
Kimahri, just keep doing your thing man
