I have to say I liked yours more then this because you locked yourself to only using the trance abilities for damage

That was brilliant. I've just finished my first full playthrough of ff9 since i first played it to completion when it was released. Im completely shocked that I didn't remember the whole your not alone section and had no recollection of the music! It's by far one of the best FF tracks. So proud of myself for beating Ozma for the first time, what a noob. X

Your runs are insane!! Just started watching but can't wait to watch the whole run!

If I remember correctly Spirit ties into how many turns you can use in trance.

Your a mad man. I’m definitely liking and supporting

"Jump Rope does not exist." Gawd, I wish. I'd gladly platinum this game if it wasn't for that damn jump rope trophy requiring you to do 1000 jumps. That's 10x worse than the 100-jump rope moon in Metro Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey! At least that you can cheat by moving a letter in the jump rope path and sitting on it as the game doesn't realize you aren't jumping, but not here. (I know there is a trick but it requires a turbo controller and I don't have one. X( I know I can put a separate save for later but I just hate grinds like this. X()

Another great challenge completed. Holy cow - that looked rough, from the rules! To answer the question about why you got 3 turns of Trance, in one battle, instead of 2, I think that's also Spirit. I remember reading a list of everything Spirit does once (and wow, it's basically everything) and it included both how quickly Trance fills and how long it lasts. So if you had something equipped that boosted spirit, that's probably what did it.

You would be correct. Spirit affects the speed of trance gain and trance turn count on top of affecting the speed of regen. So trance heavy runs like this always aim for spirit growth (and high tide to fix trance gain in your favor) to maximize trance activity

Great video! What a crazy challenge not being able to use any abilities outside of trance. I've seen another run that the only damage allowed was trance, but this is on a whole different level.

I think you may have underutilized Dagger for this, since her trance summons are basically infinite. Unless you forbid using her, since that's broken.

Love your content! Only thing is I sometimes wish that the commentary was more closely commentating what is actually on the screen. It makes it a little hard to follow if you're not super familiar with the game! But otherwise it's all perfection

Yeah. Ozma is always a LUCK fight even when you know the tricks. Only insert commands during Ozma's action animations, balance your shadow/holy absorption and immunity (all absorbs actually removes that move from Ozma's move pool and you want as wide of a move pool on him to limit curse/meteor use)

Amazing run! And I can say I was the 1,000th like in this video!!

There’s only a few games where I don’t mind grinding and somehow this one falls into it

One thing I never see in videos is that you can use the summon gems to heal in battle, and they heal more the more of that particular gem you have in your inventory. They can be really effective, much better than Hi Potions late game!

You are absolutely insane. No run and no Steal? Kudos for this!

I'm glad the speed booster doesn't interact with the game's regular clock or timers...makes hot&cold so much quicker since its so much easier getting those quick item chains for max point gain

my biggest critique for thje vid was the mismatch of the audio at the end. Audio is saying whats going on almost a minute before we see it. Other than that, great job Primal, all hail the grind king. now give yourself a pat on the back and go spend some time with Dolly

i know, its the difficulty of the animations being so long, explanations being short and my terrible editing skills :( i tried to sync it up but it just wasnt having any of it, in other challenges it can be ok but this one sort ruins it with the length of the fights and makes it much harder

I say he would have to record every explanation individually so then alll audio syncs up it would be time consuming but more enjoyable for the viewer. or just cut to the winning fight with explanation

This almost felt like a podcast talking about the actual performance, with some almost related footage going on in the background. It's still good! It would've been _chef's kiss_ had the audio and video synced up right, but it's still enjoyable.

the rule differences alone mean things need to be taken differently but once you look into the playstyles of individuals aswell then it really opens things up for how to tackle these challenges, you could have 10 people run the same challenge but do it 10 different ways

if were just looking at the game clock then total time was just under 170 hours but that was with the speedup booster being used so with out that would have been around 400

You got through Kuja's palace with only 1 random encounter?? That's crazy

These challenges are becoming so insane. I sit here like "Maybe a FF10 where I don't use items would be good", while you are on another level. Though I do have a challenge. It is the most hardcore FF challenge...complete FFXI (and all the add-ons) without Trusts or Community Support.

gc? and i've been feeling better for ages now dude, covid ant going to kick my ass

though not close at all, this was what the game felt like to me when 9 y.o. and trying to steal every item on every boss. just a waiting game healing yourself till things finally happen. i especially remember trying for over 6 hours to steal the robe of lords from quale. dont remember if i ever got it. (just googled it, 0.39%)

I could have sworn Primal had already done this challenge, must have been someone else

it's clear that you used the cheats in the evil forest against the boss to get the bonus trance for all characters - so that killed the run before it even stared @ 11:46 in the video

click your own time link, drop the video to 0.25 speed and check again, steiner and vivi are not in trance and still have a very noticable gap in there trance bar. nice try at coming at me though.

@@Primalliquid92 did so, betweedn 11:46 and 11:47, you see that the trance bar gets full on both vivi and steiner, and this is with .25x speed - if you want to say it's not accurate, fine, i'd like to know why if you cheated, so be it, you cheated, not a big deal, or even bumped the button on accident, no big deal but saying you did something that you didn't - why? hope it's not for views, because this is what you're known for and you don't want to grind these out? if so, pick something else to play/run, or hide it better in the future, man - just my 2 cents

update - i checked your ffx overpowered video as well and your numbers don't add up - you grind for 12 hours on sinspawn and the money compared to xp doesn't match to get you level 99 for each character - you should simply admit that you use cheats and don't do the actual work, dude

You can get three trances cause the amount decreased is mod 256, like a damage roll to your trance bar

If you would have ended up grinding to lv99 to kill Ozma, you probably would have let the clock overflow back again to get Excalibur II.

in order to get excal using the overflow the clock needs to reset iirc 13 times

on the world map you can stutter step to get no encounters its what the speedrunners do

in ff9 you can use tents in battle on party or enemies and theres a chance to be "bitten by a snake" which inflicts a bunch of status effects, its how speedruners do (or did) alot of bosses

This challenge seems absolutely brutal

How is Ultima Weapon annoying to get? It's just a dead pepper dive. Getting Gastro Fork is annoying.

you can but its VERY glitchy and can corrupt the save so easily
