The fact that YUNALESCA somehow wasnt a roadblock, just goes to show how nuts some challenge runs can be. Also great call grabbing the Sun Crest after beating her since if I remember right, returning for it later means having to deal with Dark Bahamut and well, that wont have gone down too well 🙃

As long as he was playing the remastered or international versions. Which I'd 100% guess he was and not the American PS2 version lol (dark aeons aren't in the original US version for whatever reason).

10:51 Yuna's line "I want my journey to be full of laughter" is one of the best in the game.

I think using Rikku's customization would have been fine. Yeah, she's doing the work, but with that logic then you shouldn't use shops either since they are getting their inventory.

​@@clubpenguin12109everyone in the party can toss the ball to help and in my mind you should try to get Wakka cause it makes the most sense as he is the only one other then Tidus who plays blitzball and its cool to think he's tossing his own ball at you to use as a weapon for an attack.

Never thought about the plot of this story being a convoluted trolley dilemma, i appreciated your pov on the plot even if that wasnt the main premise of the video. Great work on this one overall!

I still love the complete 180 change in character Tidus has after learning the truth about the pilgrimage. Full Jecht mode.

FFX is one of my top 5 games ever! I also love 7, mostly for the nostalgia, also 8 to a lesser extent, but X had the best gameplay and story IMO. Yuna's sending at Kilika and her kiss with Tidus in the forest are my two favourite and most emotional scenes in the franchise. Edit: my eldest daughter's name is Yuna Margaret Meadows.

I agree. FFX is amazing. Don't read the 2.5 novella though. Ruins everything.

I don't know if you know this but with the Sin Scales battle at the beginning of the game, you can farm them infinitely to get a head start on Tidus's grid. He should be able to get TWO overdrive modes from that battle alone. Also when you're on the boat with the larger Sin Fin, you can farm THOSE scales for even more AP. I did both of these farms for around 12 hours each and I was able to get my characters' main grid area maxed out pretty quickly.

Actually, there are 4 Overdrive modes you can get for Tidus in the very beginning area of the game, including Loner, which was mentioned in this video, there’s also Slayer, Warrior, and Ally, as slayer requires Tidus to kill a certain number of enemies (of which there’s an infinite amount) warrior requires doing a certain total number of damage (again can be infinite here) and ally just requires Tidus to have a certain number of turns (again, infinite)

As a person who did a Tidus only run once, I DID use customization and... it went from a challenge run to a casual stroll for the most part. Granted it wasn't very hard for me in the first place anyways because I also didn't restrict Tidus on the sphere grid so man had free reign to be anything I needed him to be... so I should probably do a run with these restrictions at some point for a little masochism in my life.

You are a joy to listen to - my favorite part was your Blitzball match and your knowledge about its rules. I never thought about any of that before

There's so much the game doesn't tell you. Cheer doesn't literally raise the party's strength and defense, how it actually works is more complicated than that.

I would say using the weapon customization is fine since it's something open to the entire party. Awesome playthrough and some creative ways to deal with enemies. Good stuff as always

God damn it THANK YOU! So many people just blatantly miss the point of the laugh scene and just think it's bad voice acting. No, it's exactly what it is: silly play between the two leading to them actually laughing at themselves for their childish ridiculousness. I'm always amazed at how people just don't see things below skin-deep.

This actually looks like a massive ball ache of a challenge. I've done Breath of Fire 3 solo runs, but with the amount of cutscenes in this you've seen on repeat: I'd say this is more tedious and stressful. Well done for sticking at it and getting a cool video about it!

I remember getting Slayer Overdrive mode with Tee-dus and overkilling Sin scales for a couple of hours during that Sin fin's fight. I got Blitz Ace and most of skills as I grinded some Ability Spheres from Piranha during Sunken ship part. That part where Seymour helps you didn't look as impressive as the first time, since Lu, and I think Yunie, already knew how to Thundaga, Firaga, Blizzaga and Waterga those Sin spawns. I remember grinding there for a while as well, overkilling its arms over and over. Youth and free time used to accompany me back then. Anyways, nice video!

The biggest take away I got from this with all the missed blitz ace overdrives is that it’s better to be smart than skilled 🤣 nice job on the run!

This is a lot of fun. A fun run through of my favorite game. Also the fact you killed yu yevon someone obsessed with the cycle of life and death and starting this whole mess with phoenix downs was stupid comical to me

"This challenge destroyed me" It took me quite a lot of time to get the joke. 10/10

Tidus should have a blitzball, especially because its the best weapon in the game. Patiently waiting for a mod to do that.

Okay so I've binged watched your FF vids and maaaan you made me want to play these games again. About a year or so ago I've started a "poison only" run in FFX but never finished it, same with the "Chicago Run" in FF12 where every single character is a Machinist. I'm super glad I've found your channel, its been quite a long time since I've ran into somebody who's content is this consistently amazing. Keep it up!

For whom it may concern: You can grind out Tidus a bit more in the intro tutorial, after you get overdrive mode loner, you get slayer. Then b4 you get on the boat leaving Besaid, you grind until you get cheer & haste. Then at the fight versus Sin's Fin, you can grind the enemies until Tidus gets Blitz Ace overdrive.

I actually love your commentary on the laughing scene. Yuna's character was really well written - and that's despite the fact that I typicall don't like the "I'm simply a good person" trope very much.

Let's take a moment to appreciate tidus's effort for letting his crew get some well needed rest

Really enjoyed the challenge, and i greatly enjoyed the bits and pieces of lore in between. That was a bit unexpected, but neat I don't enjoy people suffering in challlenge runs, but rather them being victorious on the end - so when some challenges really make players miserable I tend to dislike those Nice video, going to check out more if there are any :)

I have attempted this before but with less restriction like i can have tidus access to the entire sphere grid + be able to use rikku customize and called it Tidus Grand Adventure. Amazing vid btw.

me reacting to the title while you start describing the extra conditions like: "yeah, the early game will be slow but once you can open up the sphere grid to get magic and other abilities it should be fairly easy to... oh. Oh no."

There's only one real answer to the trolley problem, YOU DERAIL IT. Will it always work? No. But it is the only true solution. Anything else is apologetics.

In a gagworthy episode of the bevelle season, Rikku Coffee pulls up with a fast fashion dressphere from Yevon&M, a popular store in bevelle. In utter gag, michelle painesage remarks at the dress, yelling "I DONT WANT TO SEE NO YEVON ON MY RUNWAY".

Okay, the Meru bgm from LoD is a nice touch with Rikku, she really fits that motif for sure.

Also, with the confrontation with Yunalesca, i always viewed the glitching effect when everyone speaks their peace, which is basically them breaking away from the programming of Yevons' beliefs, thus the glitch

I like your video makes me want to try the challenge.

Well me why I'm been playing this game for like 20 years and NEVER knew you could zombify Yu Yevon wtf. That alone is worth a sub!

I actually recently considered trying a Yuna solo run. The rules I would have used are No blitzball, can only use grand summon to summon against bosses, expert sphere grid, and a lightly self enforced no excessive grinding rule.

I did some casual play few years ago. Grind the game a bit and got a bit drained and come up with a cheesy idea after I got yojimbo for yuna. The rest of the game become her solo run simply because of yojimbo skill: zanmato. There was some breakdown I found over the internet how much gil needed to almost guarantee zanmato. On top of that, in PC remastered version, there's a built in cheats to add gil. Adding those 2 together, I simply just beat the boss with my in game wallet. Just reset the battle if I don't get Zanmato for each boss fight for guaranteed kill. No need to farm too much sphere for late game boss fight.

*I always thought of his name as "Tide-us", you know, like a tide 🌊 because of all of his early involvement with being around water up until you finally get away from the early islands (Baaj, Besaid, & Kilika) and away from the water (the water that's around Dream Zanarkand, the Al Bhed ship, the water you have to go through as Tidus and Rikku scope out the underwater airship, the ship that Yuna and the companions rode twice, and Luca port) by starting the Mi'ihen Highroad. Heck, even Tidus is gifted Chappu's "water sword" from Wakka which is called The Brotherhood*

Well - Yes - But no! Tida (Tidus's Okinawan name) ACTUALLY means "Sun" and he is the counter part to Yuuna (name means "Sea Hibiscus" which is seen on her traditional dressing - Representative of the "Moon"). This is why he uses the Sun Crest and Sigil in game for his Celestial Weapon! Its also reflected in his yellow hair and clothing! She also uses the Moon Crest and Sigil for her Celestial Weapon. If you look at the Chinese promotional images - Tidus and Yuna are shown as "Yin" and "Yang" made by Tetsuya Nomura. Yin is the female and negative aspects which are taken from the Moon - While Yang is the male and positive aspects taken from the sun. Chappu's sword actually has nothing to do with Tidus at all - And is represtitive of Wakka - Which is Ainu for "Water". All FFX character names are Okinawan or Ainu (spoken on Hokkaido) that have a meaning! But it IS said "Tide-Us". The reason "Tee-dus" took off is actually a funny story! The person hired to do the English narration for the game's promotions in Japan said it in a trailer - And it stuck. This was covered by James Arnold Taylor (the American voice actor who did Tidus's voice in English) - Confirming its SUPPOSE to be "Tide-Us" - But that he personally likes "Tee-dus" himself.

This was supposed to be a challenge run video not you making me feel the feels with your commentary on the plot. Good job 😢

I learned two things in this video. Tentacles is gay and he wants you to know it, and no you can’t beat FFX with just Tidus.
