Considering that the contact beam looks like a plasma thrower, I think we can technically calm it a flamethrower since plasma is a superheated gas that has the appearance of burning. It’s a futuristic flamethrower.

The one enemy didn't crash the game, he just wanted to praise the flamethrower forever. He loved it so much needed to stand in the fire like a hug.

Dang it sucks you have to blur out large portions of the amazing work they did in the gore in this game.

So fun fact, that first infector room gets easier if you stomp on that body pile you made, both in the remake and original. They can only transform full corpses, and its funny when it whips a u-turn and walks right back in the room when the AI realizes it cant do its job.

@@jacthing1 So interesting news. I had a friend test for me. For the remake, and at least for the morgue attack, the infector won't change any corpses that have ANY missing limbs. Arms, legs, head, apparently if any part is missing it'll ignore it.

If you're after more challenge run ideas, here's one I'd love to see: can you beat Dark Souls 2 left handed? Rules: you can only use weapons designed to be used in the left hand, including parrying daggers, the special sword with the improved left hand moveset, the torch, and shields. You can only use weapons in the left hand, with the exception of shields, which must be used in the right hand. Aside from that, the usual rules of "no exploits or cheats," "beat all bosses possible," etc.

​@@enot2140It has to be weapons with unique attacks in the left hand, such as the Artorias greatsword (I forgot the name).

technically, this run can have the Flamethrower accessed from the very first Store if you play on New Game+, and if you can make it to the beginning of NG+ without upgrading to a new suit or using any power nodes, you could actually have a significantly harder version of this Challenge thanks to the Phantom Necromorphs!

Also the special edition came with a bunch of weapons that act as NG+ accessibility to the other weapon types, effectively.

For the first regenerator, CarcinogenSDA did a run of this and just ran in a circle around the room not bothering to waste ammo. Apparently, the whole thing is time-based.

Which is good because my first playthrough, he immediately despawned when he broke out of the glass. I wasn't facing him when he broke out and honestly thought it was the developers mixing things up. Nope, it was just an odd bug lol

The one two punch at 8:55 of 'Lights? Life Support? You know, this should be an easy choice." to 'I should've chosen Life Support!" just hit in a way I didn't expect.

So far, my favourite flamethrower was in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, mainly because scoring sneak criticals with a flamethrower and oneshoting a deathclaw like that is very funny

I don't comment much but I want to say, I absolutely LOVE your content, not only because of the skill and time you put into the challenges but also your humor. You make not only myself laugh but my kids as well. Keep up the amazing work!

The contact beam looks like it's just a flamethrower if the flamethrower was a hose and you just put your thumb over the nozzle. I'd say you're in the clear

Yeah, being softlocked out of the ending because you brought the "wrong" weapon to the boss sucks, like, come on, it's a flamethrower, how can you NOT use it?

I remember saying almost the exact same thing on his demon souls firebomb run I genuinely do not understand why games will have weapons that just arbitrarily do not work That being said I do actually really appreciate that lemon uploads challenges that are impossible keeps the ultimate destination a surprise

@@zombieslayer2016 Yeah, immunities and straight breaking weapons is just bad design choice IMO. I can 100% agree with resistances, even really heavy resistances, but pure immunities to a damage or weapon type, that's just telling the player they aren't allowed to use the tools you gave them, and that's not kosher.

@@nssheepster That's nothing to do with the bosses or what the game intends, in this instance it's to do with how the flamethrower is coded. The flamethrower itself is not considered a weapon, but rather an output that just spawns fire in certain directions. The secondary attack was originally coded as a projectile, making the flamethrower a weapon and thus being able to trigger the hit registry, but in this game it's just another spawn point for fire. It's an oversight moreso, not so much a design choice, as this was able to be used through the entire game (from getting it at least) before the remake to my knowledge.

I can't agree with that, it limits desighn, imagine if in metal gear solid 5 when you are in a sniper battle with quite instead of using a sniper rifle, it was just as viable to take an LMG and spray at her, parts of a game being incomparable with part of your toolkit is necessary for those parts to stay interesting and not just be auto completes, having said that arbitrary immunities are also not fun, in most cases, the fire boss in mg5 is another good example, because he was outright immune to bullets, he basically was just a waiting puzzle with a ranged attack and you have to look for the spots to wait for him to get to, however if he just took damage he'd be a bullet sponge

I mean I for one would be interested in watching a ng+ contact beam only run lol, seems like it'd be a fun one

on a side note, I love how chen demise is both different and the same it was in the original they really managed to get the feeling of YEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHRGHHHHHHH intact, while adding on top of it!

If you're looking for more runs to do, I've been having a lot of fun playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous-- on my third run now and playing around in this game is really fun but also addicting and punishingly difficult. Though you it doesn't look like you've done any CRPG content on the channel yet (I could be wrong), I've been having a blast and the strategic elements have been scratching the itch for another XCOM game-- something you have sunk some time into. Regardless, thanks for the great content! Been around since the Pokemon vid you did way back

Your humor on this one was delightful. :3 Dead Space is one of my favorite games, and I was delighted by this remake with the sheer amount of lore and details crammed in. The run was also fun as hell, I didn't realize it was even doable- I've seen folks do it with the plasma cutter, but flamethrower is a fun challenge, even the game being uncooperative at the very end. I feel like Isaac would get along with Doom Guy.

Man I can’t wait to get home and finish this game. Played the original, but this first run is Pulse Rifle and Plasma cutter. NG+ is Pulse Rifle only, then Plasma Cutter, then on to the other weapons. Like I’m so excited man.

I had the pleasure of also playing this on outdated hardware, and was the game that made me finally sort out my GPU situation, my old Reliable 1060 6gb was finally retired, tho now the DS Remake is now also in my own backlog...

Is it just me or do the colors seem...off? Are you playing with colorblind accessibility? Or is this some way to get around KZread censorship to make the blood and gore a different color? Not that I have a _problem_ with either of those points, I just want to make sure I'm not crazy.

I really wanted to do a NG+ run with only the upgraded Stasis but they take the upgrade away from you sadly. Would have been fun to just load my inventory up with stasis packs and freeze everything.

This game looks pretty interesting with this colorblind filter. I prefer the original but this feels really grungy

I don't think it's a colorblind filter, I think it's RGB without the red. Presumably he did it to wash out any blood so this didn't get demonetized. Just a guess, based on all the talk about censorship for the KZread algo

@@user-tu4lf3vo2y I'm Not sure exactly what you mean, but most likely yes. Reshade could make the whole game completely green like an old Gameboy no problem. Or every color could be monochrome accept for green.

I do believe that the Hive Mind's 1st and 2nd phases can be done exclusively using TK, but the amount of precision you would need is absolutely absurd. You would need to bring the proper objects into the fight to be thrown, and get lucky enough to not only hit your targets, but also pick up the objects before they fall into the chasm below. I know this is possible because I tried fighting the Hive Mind with the Flamethrower before even attempting a Flamethrower only run, and you can actually destroy parts of the Hive Mind using TK only, though it is extremely difficult. The only thing that CANNOT be destroyed using TK is the 3rd and final phase, the grapple phase. You cannot pick up any objects with TK as there is nothing within your line of sight during this section. Your only option during phase three is to use the Flamethrower itself to damage the final node, which I did not think to test. I'm probably never going to attempt a full Flamethrower only run because of the Hive Mind, but maybe somebody will give it a shot some day...
