Olimar and Moss do technically count as the third and fourth story mode playable characters, so they do sorta continue that trend. But yea… wish you or player 2 could use them elsewhere. Or any of the other Rescue Team members just doing next to nothing all day

In theory you can complete Shipwreck tail without unlocking swallow... as long as you never got lv 3 super buff...

I wish the Extra Hand was earlier in the game, I’m one of those people that 100%d the ENTIRE GAME before I did the final boss, because it’s, y’know, the *final* boss, but even if you speedrun there there’s nowhere near enough stuff to make it feel worthwhile imo :(

Same with the pluckophone and purple/white onions. You get them way too late to make any use of them. It’s like they want me to only do the minimum amount of work required for each area even though I can complete them with the Pikmin types recommended, which is unlike the past 3 games where you could return to an area with a new type and get new things

@@DylBro101 Purple and White Onions can be obtained as soon as you rescue Olimar, the only requirement is finishing Shipwreck Tale, so you can actually get them before the Rock and Wing onions and use them in the final two areas.

I recommend copying files during Pikmin 4 challenge playthroughs to avoid irreversible mistakes. When I did a 30-day 100% run, I backed up my file after each area. The main story lacking a rewind feature is annoying-especially because the game constantly encourages Dandori.

One thing that could be really helpful about the extra hand (haven't tested it but I believe this is how it works) is that if the player grabs on first and then oatchi does, you can let go and oatchi will not swallow it, which is helpful in situations where you want to speed up carrying

This does not work, as a leader carrying with Extra Hand does not speed up Oatchi's or any Pikmin's carrying.

What I did was no grow run. I didn't grow any pikmin (outside the first 7 reds) and never collected any beasts in the overworld as well so the only pikmin i ever got were wild pikmin. I Also enetered every single cave with 0 pikmin to see if i could beat it using only the wild pikmin that showed up in the cave. Came close! There were a few cave areas that were impossible to do because they didn't give you any wild pikmin at all or not enough so whenever that happened i just used glow pikmin but never turned them into any other color and left them behind. Was Fun! Gonna now try to bum rush white and purple onion then use only whites and purples for as much of the game as i can (Along with oatchi)

I've found that you need at most 15 Pikmin in Olimar's shipwreck tale, because one of the gears is in an area that Moss can't reach(the top of the sand castle where a blue onion is in the main game)

It's funny how with buffs the captain is one of the fastest item carriers, but with no other upgrades they're slower than a purple, as well as somehow not being able to carry at least 10 since they can carry purples.

Finally, the part 2 we didn’t know would happen. 😎

Ive started an "extinction" run which ive seen other people do before for the previous games. killing every pikmin before the end of every day and starting only with the single pikmin of every type

fun fact, throwing a pikmin of the same time into the candy pop bud of that color, the candy pop bud won't count it as a pikmin.

You can actually get the golden vaulting table with only 1 trip to the cavern for a king. If you throw a pikmin into a candy pop bud that is the same color, the pikmin gets sprouted, but the bud doesn’t despawn. You can just throw all 100 purples into a purple candy pop bud and leave

Found out if you delete certain files in the save, you can make a pseudo ng+. Adding a copy of 4 to my hacked switch soon to mod it and may see if true pikmanless could be done. :)

You could use the Pikmin duplication glitch using the Candypopbuds to get all your needed Purple Pikmin and possibly other ones. Speaking of glitches, maybe new ones could ve found that would make this possibke using 0 Pikmin ever?

I did a 7 Pikmin challenge of this game myself. Take the 7 Pikmin needed to carry the Stone of Advancement and only use those for the entire game. (Like the 50 Pikmin Challenge of Pikmin 1, 37/101 Pikmin Challenge of Pikmin 2, and 42 Pikmin Challenge of 3.) Here are my notes: Unique Treasure Collected 233/239 Total Treasure Collected 400/410 Castaways Collected 41/43 1: Scaly Custard (Engulfed Castle Sublevel 3, Web, 10 weight) 2: Glinty Circular Disc (Engulfed Castle bag) 3: Noble Goo (Engulfed Castle bag) 4: Juicy Gaggle (Engulfed Castle bag) 5: Amiguous Hostel (Engulfed Castle bag) 6: Heroine's Tear (Engulfed Castle bag) 7: Lesser Mock Bottom (Engulfed Castle bag) 8: Telekenesis Detector (Need 10 Winged Pikmin) 9: King of Meats (300 weight) 10: Golden Vaulting Table (1000 weight) Six of these treasures and both missing castaways are unavailable because of the bag on Sublevel 5 of Engulfed Castle needing 100 weight to squash. (10 Purple Pikmin.) Big sad. Thank you for the tips from the last video. That helped me get the Mysterious Carraige in the Sun-Speckled Terrace by using the glowmob to get Glow Pikmin to lower the clipboard shown at 3:05 in this video during night mode. If anyone has ideas to get these last 10 treasures with 7 Pikmin or less let me know!

if youd like another challenge like this one maybe you can try and beat the game with the least % possible? it might be a little too grindy tho (as the main way of getting sparklium would prob be cave enemies)

I had no idea Louie had a series of side quests for you wtf I thought I was finally done with this massive game

Is there any tactical or strategic reason you would want to remove the gear for yourself or oatchi? I can't think of any scenario in normal story or a challenge where you wouldn't want to have as many as you can. Just seems like one of those fluff options they added because they could, but not because they should.

Personally I turned off the treasure detector sometimes because the noise it makes is annoying when you're right next to a treasure. But yeah every other gear idk why you'd turn them off except to add challenge for yourself.

As soon as I got the louder whistle I unequipped it. It's hard enough to select the pikmin you want with the regular whistle, no need to make it bigger.

Idk if this will ever be seen, but I challenge someone to do a challenge that I call the permanent switch challenge. What I have in mind for this challenge is you can only use one pikmin color at a time, and once you switch a color, you can’t switch back. So you use red pikmin for as long as you want, but once you switch from red pikmin to let’s say yellow pikmin, you can’t use reds for the rest of the run.

Idk how interesting that run would be considering you'd want to hold onto reds until Gaints Hearth for the pinecones

what I did for the finale boss bring 100 purples when he is about to flip over I use spicy spray then Oatchi rush after about 2 seconds of attacking use lighting for longer stun and be able to one cycle each phase. even with this method the boss took 6 minutes.

I did a no upgrades challenge where I couldn’t get any farlic, captain upgrades, and no oatchi upgrades. Items and Russ items were allowed. I managed to finish it but I’m not sure if you can 100% it or not. Also onions count as upgrades.

Currently We Can 100% The Game While Only Unlocking Red, Purple, Winged And Glow Pikmin (Excluding Onions Of Course). Wings Are Only Needed For The Telekinesis Detector, Purples Are Necessary For 2 Treasures And Waterwraiths, And Red/Glow Pikmin Are Forced Upon You. I Only See Potential To Avoid Winged Pikmin, But Haven't Found A Way Yet.

Alternative title: no, you cannot beat pikmin 4 without pikmin

The water wraith in the secret cave can be frozen with ice pikmin because he's water. Don't know if ice blasts work but using one ice pikmin and oatchis rush could work as well?

The heaviest treasure needs one thousand pikmin to carry it so you'll need to use one hundred purple pikmin to carry the heaviest treasure in this game so technically you can't get one hundred percent without using pikmin

Glow Pikmin annihilate the final boss, making it the easiest in the series… kind of like this entire game.

I hope you aren't completely done with this series yet, because I'm curious what treasures require what. Could you please make a third video explaining what treasures require no Pikmin, what treasures require glow Pikmin, and what treasures require specific Pikmin?

Y'know I bet the Primordial Thicket could be done if u have the auto pluck, but ofc that takes an insane amount of Raw Material so that's not exactly possible in this run

Insane difficult (non possible to 100% with) you can only use 2 Pikmin maximum and no upgrades and no oatchi, also no using items on enemy's plus the obvious thing no second player. Currently I'm doing 2 difficultlys before that witch is just no oatchi and no upgrades + no second player,
