CAN WE MAKE IT? Kaimanawa to Cascade Hut Trip
Finally I got around to editing this trip to the Cascade Hut in the Kaimanawa Forest.
After 'investigating' the mysterious Kaimanawa Wall, JJ and I headed off into the ancient, damp and dark Kaimanawa forest.
Will we make it ALL the way? Or will one of us geriatrics blow a 'fufu valve' ?
Check out this latest chapter in my adventures to find out :)

Still 1 of the best hikes/hunts I've done. 8 hrs to the hut and felt every bit of it on arrival, that ridge gets ya. Well done guys its a massively rewarding walk. I'm watchn your vid because I'm planning another trip back in, if we ever get out of lockdown.

Thanks for the comment. I feel your pain. I can't wait to get outta lockdown. I feel like a caged Tiger. I have new tyres on my Africa Twin, and can't ride it. Lets hope we all get back to what we love soon :)
Inspiring :)

Turns out hes not just some boring old English teacher after all... :)
You’re welcome for the fun gear Cam! I love watching your videos but it makes me so homesick for NZ. I hope we can go tramping in NZ someday soon, dear one.

Am I to conclude that breakfast in a leisurely fashion was only semi enjoyable?

You are to conclude that it was revolting - apart from the Noodles, which were delicious, as always :)

@@MVDBR If you're interested in seeing how that AKASO performed check out this vid - kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4GBo8-YYrqeds4.html&ab_channel=campbellrousselle (Maybe I'm being too critical) - exposure jumps around a bit, but it was set to 'spot exposure' instead of 'average exposure', so maybe that was an issue.

@@actstuntcam already saw that 😎 I just watched your long ass comparo with the other camera too, the colour grading helped a lot. Have you played with the white balance? I always set the white balance manually but I've never seen that particular purple kinda tint before 🤔

@@MVDBR Have fiddled with a couple of settings in the photo mode, in case they also affect the picture in video. Checked white balance, it only has auto, outdoors and indoors - it was set to outdoors, so should have worked. - there could be something wrong with it I guess.
Nice editing 👍 and looks like an awesome adventure

How long from campsite to the 1240 high point mate?

I can't really remember now. It really depends on your fitness. That first climb is tough, but goes straight up to that highest point. Maybe 1hr - 1.5hrs max?

Yep, definitely dry up there - I have no recollection of seeing any water till you hit the bottom at the other side. If it is hot, I'd want about 2L at least. @@user-zs3du8hi6q
