Can We Make $1000 OSTRICH Work Boots? | Handmade Exotic Leather Work Boots

Ostrich was a steep challenge, far from the thick durable work leathers we normally use. This leather is fickle, as most exotics are, but our craftsmen powered through completing the project and making a very very divisive boot. Opinions varied widely in production as to whether the boot was beautiful or an abomination, what do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Exotic leathers like crocodile, alligator, ostrich, shark etc are really weak, flimsy and not long lasting at all. They are just for being flashy and showing people you have some money to spare on fancy boots. Kinda like a gold plated diamond encrusted watch. I’m not a flashy guy either..

Love them. Ultra biased because I already have a pair of fashion boots in Ostrich [SS14 Maison Margiela Ostrich Side Zips in Teal - the runway version was actually in Big Bird yellow, but I ended up with the easier to style colorway]. I think they probably would've been less controversial in the shop if they were in black or, even better, if they had been Tankers, though I'm not certain of how feasible that would be.

Cowboys know the value and durability of "bird" skinned boots. Super durable with only one flaw.. shar edges will cut.. but sand, dirt, etc.. just keep going.. Never put oil product on them.. Condition often as you should any boot.. And you will have them for a very long time. If they did not pass muster then Cowboys would not wear them as they provide little function. Function is king when it comes to boots.. Fun to watch the process.. you can tell that he really did not want to make them.. lol.. Did you know Double H makes two colors of roper ice sole work boots.. full quil? Yep.. Searching and found this and them..

apart from aesthetics, does it have any benefits over the cows' leather? also, what's about pigs skin? i've heard it's stronger than the cows skin (of the same thickness). also- when you put the weight in ounces, is that per square foot of leather? any chance to put the g/m^2 as well (not instead of it, just with it)?

I've never owned ostrich but it looks better and has that distinct grain and also is very tough. Same with alligator, I wouldn't own a mess of it but one or two exotic pairs of boots would be fun. And Nick's offering bison made me not have to go with JK lol.
