Can we get these rare CLASSIC rigs back home?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Ben with @406garage3 was on his way home from a picking trip in Montana with a trailer full of classic International Scouts, when the fuel pump in his 379 Peterbilt went out. Luckily he was able to limp it to Western States Cat in Meridian Idaho to get repaired. Western States has a great old school Cat mechanic who both they and Ben want to be the one who does the repair, but he's going on a vacation and won't be able to do it for a week. Ben was more than ok with waiting to have that guy do it, but that meant his trailer needed to get home since one of the Scouts was already sold, and the others needed to get sold as well. So I headed out in my @SeriousTrucks to go get Ben and his car hauler trailer home. The only problem was that my Western Star is WAY taller than Ben's Peterbilt, and since the landing gear doesn't work, we weren't able to adjust the height on his trailer. After fighting it for awhile, we finally gave up and asked for help. The guys at @WesternStatesCat were awesome and brought their big forklift over to raise the trailer, and then we hit the road for home!

It didn't matter if I was right or wrong about the weight, it already happened, so the outcome was pre-determined. that's what I meant. I fully understand the significance of engagement, even trivial engagement. In fact I have a video that has been getting a lot of engagement suddenly and I don't really know why the winds of the YT algorithm have changed. It's like the great Adpocalypse, it was a bust for some and boon for others, my channel benefited from it.

Grandparents had a 40 acre alfalfa farm just NW of Ontario. Dad worked in Albany, OR and had 100 acres just south of Independence. I remember traveling through Lebanon, Bend, Burns, Vale a couple of times a year. Had my learners permit when Grandma died. So made that trip at the wheel of the car. Grandpa died almost a year later so almost had my driver's license. Made several trips with Dad to haul things home before the Ontario property was sold. I also remember that Dad forgot Mom near Sisters on one trip. Middle of the night so everybody was sleeping in the back of the wagon -- well, I was sleeping in the right passenger seat. Dad woke me up to find Mom. Couldn't. I think we were an hour out of Sisters. Right about then the highway patrol found us to confirm that Mom was back at the last gas station. I guess she felt the call and didn't tell anybody.

Torch and a Hammer! Glad you boys are home safe Casey. When I've had leg cranks get stiff or slow, I heat them up to cook off dried grease then pound the to get the flakes to drop out. Landing gear is expensive and replacing is outrageous! This simple 30 minutes a leg will save you more then regular greasing. Good Luck if you are having that problem. I've driven for great companies with new well maintained equipment and I've driven for the dirt bags that expect drivers to fix or deal with problems on the road, so glad to be retired now. Common folks do not realize the troubles truck drivers have daily and don't give a rap, but many of us out here still do. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

Euro trucks have had freely adjustable air suspension for atleast 10+ years by now, they are pretty convenient exactly in these kind of situations when a trailer is too high or low to hook up. Of course even that won't help if the trailer itself is that kind of design where your fifth wheel is gonna hit the connectors and the end of truck frame is ramped so you can't fit wood blocks securely. But oh well, Entertaining video as always Casey!

I am not a trucker, I just have a utility trailer. That said, I have two or three straps that I TRUST that will bend a tractor in half if I am not careful with them. I have bent parts of my trailer overtightening the straps. Then, I have a -bucket- of straps that I do not even care if they hold up or not, those straps are only me "cop deterrent." If they only see one strap, regardless of how strong it is, they will pull you over and make you add more. If they see 50 straps, made out of string cheese, looking like you went overboard, they leave you alone. Augusta Georgia.

I can not fathom that you guys still don't have an electronically adjustable air suspension. We've had this stock feature on our eurotrucks and trailers for over 25 years now.. Surely, it can't be too hard to retrofit since you already have airbags and a leveler. You also shouldn't worry about over extending your airbags like that. If that was harmful, our shops would be filled with trucks and trailers with blown bags. Since there's a lot of docks where we need to raise or lower the suspension to the max. Even when hooking up loaded trailers, we tend to max out the bags to make sure the landing gear is clear of the ground so you don't destroy it. Honestly, the only thing truly harmful for bags is dumping 52.000lb on it at once. You'd want to let all the air out before doing that. End of my little rant, haha. Great video, as always. You and Ben have some great chemistry for videos like this. always a pleasure to watch.

Our trailer was hitting back of our RV. Thankfully we were able to get stopped and didn't roll our trailer with our Jeep on it. We only damaged back of motorhome. If anyone has questions reach out to me. We tow lots of trailers and have for over 40 years without 1 issue. I have asked many friends have they checked hitch under tow rig. I will be moving a 79 IH Traveller, which has been sitting for 30 years, on my little 8.5x 16 trailer. And after that I will be driving the 77 F250 my father bought new to Idaho for my brother, who I helped move to Meridian last year. In March I drove over Santiam, through Bend and Burns to visit my brother, unfortunately missing Casey who had already left for the Wrecker Games. One of these times our paths will cross, I hope.

Don't let him trick you Casey. If you go on a trip together, let him drive the first half. Oh, by the way, who will tow you back? 🤣
