i agree. but that is a theme that is fairly common in USA. other examples would be grimm ...and any other attempt at german in pop culture i guess^^ can't judge the french though, way too rusty^^.

Structure and lots of words are similar! But a large chunk of English vocabulary comes from Latin, through French/Norman invasion so we are never quite as good at German as we expect 😄

When Chase is a grandfather, he's going to tell stories like "I was once payed to sit in a chair and have blush put on my nose while a girl spoke German" and his grandkids are gonna be like "Yeah, okay..."

I think being French made this episode ten times funnier for me. I actually paused to write this because I need to catch some breath. Rhett's reaction everytime he understand exactly is pure gold. And the turkey/bacon part xD

Kalyn's polyglot skills are really impressive, but I actually think this would have been much harder for Rhett and Link with a native French speaker, since the vowel pronunciation moves some of the cognates further from English.

Is this the longest episode? Even the 2000th episode was only 28 1/2 minutes.

The turkey splat followed by the next line with bacon was just perfection. Genuinly couldnt write something like that

Rhett unknowingly exclaiming 'Turkey!" in French will never cease to amuse me.

This episode was great!! As a native german speaker it was a little bit difficult to watch the german part because of the pronounciation, but she did her best and german isn't easy to pronounce if you aren't familiar with how to properly speak it.

This series is honestly the best one on KZread. Please do more Following directions in foreign langurs. They’re hilarious and relatable if you speak any of the languages or ever tried to learn them.

I connect very closely with Davin and the Indonesian segment. Not because I am from Indonesia, or even speak it, but because I am in Pittsburgh, with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I have that exact Penguin stuffed animal at home! We even call him Fleury at our house!

I think it was even harder in the German round because not every word was pronounced correctly. But she did a really good job, German is pretty difficult for non native Speaker.

@@Punyulada Ikr! GMM could do a few episodes like this just about SE Asian languages!

it would be awesome to use other languages too, like for example: American sign language, Russian, Latin, ancient Egyptian, Italian, Klingon (Star Trek), Elven and Hobbiton (Lord of the Rings) and

if stevie knows hebrew/yiddish i feel like that could be cool, its a very interesting language and i think it would be quite a good challenge

Oh man, I've been looking forward to another one of these episodes since the first one!

I wonder how would they fair Latin. Latin is an old language that few people speak, but yeah. I would love to see how would they react to someone speaking in latin.

Rhett and Link should invite my mom to read and speak it - she taught herself Latin and spent a week at "camp" where they were only allowed to speak Latin the whole time :-O

More people can speak Latin now than at the height of the Roman Empire. The lingua franca of the Roman Empire was Greek :)

Even if the German speaking lady was pronouncing words correctly, Rhett and Link would be just as stumped. It was hilarious 😂

I wish they would bring this back it is absolutely hilarious

When Chase started hamming it up for the camera with the blush on his nose, I lost it!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I really love these episodes! It is so fun to watch Rhett and Link work their way through the other languages to reach their answer, and I feel like I learn a little bit along the way too! 🥰

Too bad you did not had an actual German speaker, because I think with a more clear pronunciation you would have been able to understand it maybe better - still a great video 😊

I must let it be known that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that you decided to make more of this!!!! Hilarious and educational, I love this series.

This is my absolute favorite season of GMM so far!! All these episodes have been so great!

This was so much fun! I loved watching your logic as you worked in each language. Great job, and thank you for making this into a series! Looking forward to the next episode (feel free to do Thai, or another tonal language - or ASL!).

Yeah...the german wasn't really on par from the pronunciation side, but it is a really hard language to learn, so that's understandable^^

It really wasn´t. And while it's true German can be difficult to pronounce, it is phonetically consistent. So all you have to do is try to pronounce all of the letters in the correct order. Rosa, not rose. Zeigen, not ziegen. Unless you want him to look like a goat with erysipelas.
