Can vinegar help upgrade your copper tubing from #2 to #1 copper price?

Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I do an experiment to see if soaking your copper tubing in vinegar can help upgrade it to the #1 copper price. I will tackle a few heavy discolored pieces to see how well the vinegar can clean the pipe.
Here is the link to cleaning copper wire:

If they tell you it is #2 - Tell them you'll hold on to it to take to a different yard! That should put an end to them games.

I’ve had scrap yards say that they are too tarnished as well. This is the scrap yard that I have come to for a year now and had a great relationship with. Recently I’ve been going to a different yard. (Stuff I normally bring in) Old yard prices #1 copper $2.20 #2 copper $2.00 #1 insulated $0.70 #2 insulated $0.20 Electric motors $0.12 NEW YARD PRICES #1 copper 3.17!!! #2 copper $3.07!! #1 ins. $1.87 #2 ins $0.80 Electric motors $0.22 Crazy the difference In prices . Check with different yards folks you may be missing out on lots of money

great video, if it works and is cheap to do, that is great, you could have another tub with a water and baking soda salutation in it for a rinse, if you are doing a lot of pipe

Another good idea is to soak copper in Coca Cola aka Coke... When i was a kid my grandparents would give me Australian pennies which are copper (I live in Australia) and they were very tarnished so they would drop them in a glass of coke (coca cola) and they would clean up VERY VERY well in a very short period of time. the results were simply astonishing, and i stand by this method to this day. Please note that I am not trying to diminish what Tin Man is saying, as his method of using vinegar is also a great way of cleaning copper, I am purely offering my own 2 cents as a possible alternative, if it is easier/cheaper/more readily available to buy Coca Cola instead. Great video by the way Mr. Tin Man, love your videos!!!

Yup. I always laugh at that one because if it does that to Pennie’s, imagine what it does to our bodies.

Hi Tinman, good idea. I am gonna use it also in the functioning pipes in my house that became black as well. Question: how do you apply the baking soda?

Hi again. Did you ever used these pipecutters with two rollers and a cutting wheel? They are actually very handy, don't make a mess and you don't need electricity.

Yea some yards... i think tell them off. If theres no tin on pipes then it should be number 1, if they dont have a seperate price for tubing. Bring them just your nasty number 2, tin-covered dripping solder-joint ones. Now dissolving the tin from elbows and joints, to get number 1. That would be useful. Cleanin a 5 gal bucket of them would be a nice boost in price.
