    @@YourBoyBlinn my couch. XD Ah, but no seriously, I am horrible at Dark and Darker. I Love the game, but it does not love me. I think it's because I'm too impatient to play it. When I get in, I have trouble killing the mobs. I just can't be bothered. Hit, back away, hit, back away. I try being a caster, but the casters suck without gear. Even with staff mastery and ignite I am just impatient. I don't really have a main class. I find that I have the most fun by being an annoying little gremlin for as long as possible. I'm that guy that you just HATE. I run at you, then run away when you start walking towards me. You'll never be able to pay full attention because I will be lurking just to give you anxiety. If you do happen to engage on me, my entire kit is ALWAYS dedicated to being as annoying as possible. I will always corner hug, run around terrain until you kill me or give up, and spam voice chat with commentary screeches of fear and taunting laughs en mass like a goblin. In a word- I main being the toxic timmy. I will que up naked and be "The Annoying Little Shit", because I can, and because my amusement is directly proportional to the amount of distress I cause every other player by merely existing.

    Yo quick tip on how to use shield slam a bit more effectively is to shield slam after a riposte. So block, attack shield slam. Shield slam can be used as way to extend an attack opportunity this way if you catch their attack with the slam. You definitely want to be "touching" the target whenever you use it. Best to imagine it as a body slam. It's kind of a similar issue to how you reimagined blocking from the third perspective. You think you're in range to shield slam, but realistically your reach is way shorter than your weapons.

    Great vid, valid points. I used to run shield bash myself but the damage isn't worth it, and the slow on the enemy is practically useless because of how long it takes for your character to attack after using it.. 8:30 Here's a tip if you wanna test stuff better: open your inventory ingame, look at the bottom left under health "open details" and that'll show you every stat on your character. useful if you want to compare movement speeds :^)

    I enjoyed the video, brotha. I'd presume that if you built a kit correctly around the buckler, like maybe just high movespeed and damage or something like that, where you get on the opponent quickly and end them quickly, the buckler can be a viable option. You have to find the classes niches for sure, i solo wizard mostly and certain ways i was trying to play it were just not complementary enough to work, if that makes sense.

    The buckler is really good once you you get how big the hitbox is and how to use it correctly also the only shield who can stagger the minibosses. But one big problem i have here. is that even when you use a heater shield or some sort of shield they can still somhow hit you through the shield ( i dont mean like top of head or somthing else i mean direct hit) like the rapier,daggers also the flanged mace, it can happend that the shield blocks the hit but it will still hit you witch i think must be a bugg becous this should not happen. also thx for the video really happy to see a new guid. yeah I wonder if the "magic hit" is something due to block timing and server sync/ping.. like, if you try to block just before contact, the client/server both register a block/hit, so the result is mixed? IronShield doesn't have the best track record with server sync, which a lot of the longsword players have talked about in the past. not setup for streaming just yet, but that's definitely a goal. will post more details the closer I get to going live! appreciate you :)

  • @YourBoyBlinn

    @YourBoyBlinn

    4 ай бұрын

    thanks for the feedback! agree that norms is super fun -- you never know who you'll bump into! I've been been totally outmatched by some really skilled players more often than not. the fights are indeed much more trackable and I'm generally more confident since there's no 'gear fear' in the back of my head. pure fun! would be great to play in teams, but I have precious little experience. only one way to remedy that, I suppose haha. as for streaming, it's definitely a goal, but want to have things a bit more set up first. not sure how I'd fair with a second screen and viewers to engage with while also playing.. one step at a time!!

Even when it gives u an edge vs warlocks as they lose their blow of corruption when it gets blocked Shield bash looks more like a cc option to peel for your teammates than something to duel people with even when it may lead to funny moments of u pushing people of ledges and stuff 🤔 Oh and lately i had seen some people using the buckler with a rapier as it counts as a sword for the mastery perk countering the weapons master lose of damage and if u manage to block that counter attack is one of the fastest on top of the rapier's range

But I feel you failed to address the skill ceiling of the bucker in general, if you are familiar in melee combat you can stuff the attack of a ton of classes especially with high dex class as bard allowing for quick block/counter attacks. I think bucklers are elite due to the small hit box and high impact, in nature they’re risk for reward which all great players love the idea of in any game IMO

    maybe shield slam buckler is for dagger/survival bow fighter

    it's not a bad idea, although since the dagger is short range, and shield slam literally throws your opponents across the map, might not be a great strategy to create that space and then have to close the gap again!? food for thought!

    I wonder how much of a difference it would make if they replaced shield slams pushback with a blinding effect similar to holy strike as a kind of concussion effect

  • @JonYugen

    That would be pretty cool. I feel like the pushback effect could also make your follow-up attack a little less easier to reach.

    Great content but overall video sound wasn't high enough for me. When I switched to another video, I lost some hearing. Maybe work on that. Otherwise, awesome content.

    you lose some speed when holding a shield up, then get some back with the 10% from shield mastery... you can see your speed in the tab menu, just check it with shield down, hit tab, hold shield up, hit tab, shield will stay up and show you the new value... for me it was like 00.4% slower with shield up, which is negligable imo, but certainly not faster. it basically means you can more freely move with shield up instead of worrying about being slowed with it up.

    How does Pavise Shield Slam looks like? 🤣 Technically you can perma-block in doors and kill your opp just by shield slamming 🤣 edit. omg it's so dumb hahaha just went down and checked it You can permamently hold the door and slowly kill people with it 🤣 So funny

    I FORGOT ABOUT PAVISE.. whoooops! I've seen it slam too, it's massive and wonky looking. I think SookieSpy has some great content using the pavise to slam & trap players, his content is amazing! > www.youtube.com/@SookieSpy

    If you know you're landing a shield slam and pushing them back, thats knowledge you have that they wont, It will throw them off while you know what will happen. You play a little too slow for this build I think

    totally agree about the knowledge gap being a real advantage. also agree my playstyle is a bit too slow/timid to follow up the slam effectively!

    when i block with a shield for example with that shield perk i go from 236 to 200.....so how are you gaining speed?

  • @YourBoyBlinn

    depends on which shield you are using? with the heater shield, my character slows a bit when blocking -- but with the buckler my character actually walks a bit faster

  • @uglyheadass1459
    @uglyheadass14594 ай бұрын

    It’d probably be a pain for them but the devs should think about adjusting where the camera is in relation to your shield and push the camera upwards when you’re blocking so you can see more when blacking and then track where the opponent is planning to hit you.
